And this is the thing, too many reviews seem to miss out on what a car is actually for - you need to buy something predictable, it needs a perceived quality badge (because you have to try to show off), you are a racing driver and, presumably, spend your time racing around so need something with the best handling etc. etc. and you won't need to consider the needs of kids/dogs/family life. But in reality when you've spent 4 hours commuting home following a crash on the M25 you appreciate something comfortable - for family life the bigger (the boot) the better, with kids you don't want a darty ride.... I agree that Citroen can't 'do' intuitive screens but now we've got CarPlay so who cares, and you can turn the annoying bongs off. Great Review - as usual. And if people can look at what they actually need, instead of what they've been told they need this is a car that they'll be very happy with. And remember that Citroen will always discount heavily from RRP!

did you have the base feel model? I just bought a 1.5 diesel 8 speed auto flare model and it drives really well, 2 hours on the motorways doing a hundred miles at 70 mph it sipped fuel very slowly and considering the heavy rain it gripped the road very well, I never had tatoos simply because i was warned off them by a surgeon as I have blood clotting issues. I also haver hernias that cant be operated on from lifting heavy snooker table slates in the 1980s. and I know a good comfortable car when I drive it, the C5 Aircross is a big bulky SUV with some interesting styling issues and many wont like the heater controls being on screen only but it is so simple and responsive to operate even when driving that any worries over saftey melt away there, the shat naff is very easy to use as well and most people wont need a manual to work it out ,the road speed signs displayed on the instrument binnacle are very handy to especially if your not quite sure what the limit is or sign posting has not be done well on the roadside. 800 newton mitres is very good especially in the mid power range for a 1.5 litre diesel, and no the engine is not loud at all its very quiet indeed. there is a little road noise from the large 18 inch alloy wheels and tyres but thats about it and mine is missing its rear parcel shelf. I owened a 24 year old citroen xantia with a 2 litre diesel engine and sound proofing has come a very long way since those days. I happy with it so far No aches or pains when getting out of the half nappa leather seats after a 2 hour journey, just a shame its not cool enough for the reviewer and in the flare model the drivers seat does go down to the floor almost this feature must have been missing in the reviewers model it also has lumbar support and a nice little touch where the head rests slide forward to meet the back of your head unlike in most cars where your head hardly ever meets the headrest.

10:35 wasn't 3008 a great example of this ergonomic failure that you mentioned earlier (with A4 comparison)? If I remember correctly they placed two very shallow cup holders between armrest and gearbox. So you couldn't use the armrest while driving and everything was very annoying when you had to manoeuvre in tight city parking.

Got your render box on overnight for Economy 7 goodness? :) If Citroen was to market this as the driving equivalent of relaxing in your living room, I think it might make sense, and you always get a lot of kit. I was about to say that selling a 5-seat medium-sized crossover alongside the 5-seat C4 SpaceTourer was a bit strange, but they've since cancelled the latter (our neighbours bought one, presumably at a HUGE discount), and if you want a 7-seat "SUV", Citroen will simply point you to the Grand C4 SpaceTourer instead, so at least they're not competing with themselves (though some people hate this SUV obsession - if Citroen was a bigger selling marque, perhaps they could've kept the smaller C4 and even introduced a 7-seat SUV based on the 5008?).

My dad bought one, I was like no what you doing get the Peugeot it's brilliant, but he liked this so ordered it, gotta be honest with you I can see where he was going with it, even though I would have gone for the Peugeot 3008 in this class, my dad is 72 and he has a bad back and needs the additional comfort of this car. To him it's not about the looks or the driving experience it's about getting from A to B in comfort, and that's what this car does. The infotainment centre is annoying but like with anything you can get used to it, and the looks are marmite some people hate it others like, it my dad's a fan and considering it's his car that's all that counts. One thing you can say, for good or bad it doesn't look like anything else on the road, many SUVs of the same class are almost interchangeable looks wise while this if nothing else is unique. It's like citroen looked at their sister companies product (Peugeot 3008) and thought were not going to beat that as a piece of hard sweet candy so let's make a marshmallow instead.

You clearly have a preference for performance, bucket/sports seats and dynamic/sporty driving cars with constant comparison with Audi, coming from driving a Volvo and preferring the 'harder' ride of the 3008. So it was never likely to be the car for you. But all in all an entertaining review. It really hurt to say 'flying carpet effect' didn't it? lol. How about a 'comfy armchair for the road'? ...You also might want to do a bit more homework on your technical - "circuit boards or something"??? - the box inside the glove compartment is the fuse box which alongside the gear lever is not swapped on RHD cars to save on cost. It was the same in the early C4 Picasso (don't know about now)

I have the C5 aircross petrol flair plus , I can rest my arm all day long , but agree with alot of your video , the car is a motor way cruise car , I would not recommend it for short journeys on our roads has one day it's fine the next day it's not has the wheels are to big for our type or road, has for the lane assist that thing is fking dangerous , when it's on it pulls the car into the curb , but good points mine is full leather, comfortable , plenty of space for the kids and dog and for taking crap to the dump, would I change it yes" I should of gone for the ford focus X line instead in blue .

Seems this is remarkably similar to the C3 hire car I was "lucky" enough to "enjoy" a couple years ago. It was a brand new shape one with 40 odd miles on the clock. Driving position was one of the worst I've ever experienced. Felt like I was strapped to the roof rather than sat in the car. This feeling was vastly made worse by the insane amount of body roll on practically any corner at any speed. The steering was so light you could go from lock to lock using a single finger pushing into the rim of the wheel. Completely devoid of any communication as to what the front wheels were doing. Super. Fun. The gearbox. My oh my the gearbox. Considering this C3 had delivery mileage it was absolutely unacceptable. If I'd have been stupid enough to have bought this with my hard earned cash I would've returned the car. The throw from gear to gear felt as long as this rant I'm typing whilst having a poo. Notchy. Sloppy. Meh. The interior styling matched the exterior. I'm sure there are idiots out there who like it. Not me. Random coloured pustules everywhere and weird mixmatch of textures and finishes. Ghastly. Don't even get me started on the infotainment system. Absolute garbage to use. So to summarise if you fancy a really crap overstyled insult to a drivers car. Get one of these or the C3. It really won't disappoint.

I do think that it's quite obvious that ALL motoring journos have a rubber fetish. Once you've bought your new car, how often do you go around the dashboard prodding it? As long as regular touch points are good quality who cars if the the rest isn't? Perceived quality & actual build quality are two very different things.

The only fault with the 3008 is the hard ride on appalling potholed and bomb crater UK roads. Mind you, they are getting worse so sooner the uk will be back to horse and carts following austerity and brexit.
@madant77774 жыл бұрын
@@omegadeep1 Peugeot is notorious for being sharp/harsh and soft/wobbly at the same time. At work we have a 508 estate (one generation older than new ones), max equipment with the strongest diesel engine (so heftier front springs) - when coming to/climbing the speedbump it crashes, but coming down from it is soft like a Merc. All other Peugeots we have (308, 208, 5008, 3008) more or less do the same thing, very annoying. All that combined wouldn't make me say it drives good, let alone best, especially in the corners. Apart from the weird ride, they wear quickly from new and sometimes have strange faults. Since we had more than a few generations of those models, it is easy to see that most of the interior parts were reused but redesigned so you can't notice right away (shoddy boot plastic covers and connection points etc.). No wonder the whole group decided to change the brand - a few Golfs and mostly Skoda (Superb, Kodiaq, Fabia...).
@omegadeep14 жыл бұрын
@@madant7777 The unreliability certainly was an issue some years back, but three years ago I bought a 3008 GT Line and it's one of the best cars I've had in years . After three years there have been no faults and it's wearing fine at 30,000 miles. I'm due for a change and I'm currently looking at the 3008 , C5 Aircross or for a few pennies more the Volvo XC40. My real issue is with the poor and endlessly degrading roads in the UK . We have potholes in my area that actually put the car and driver at risk, but all the Council say is there are insufficient funds to fix and to sue them if there is damage to a vehicle.
