During the Second World War, there were many different people who objected to fight in the conflict after they were called up to military service. Inside of Nazi Germany Hitler believed this was a horrific crime to refuse to fight, and he would sentence a huge number of people to death for this. Many were executed inside execution chambers around Germany inside of prisons, and a number were killed on the guillotine. One of these victims was Franz Jagerstatter, a man who was incredibly religious by the time World War 2 came around.
In his early life, Franz had a run in with the law but after marrying his wife he became incredibly devoted to his faith. But he was called up to serve in the war and the German Wehrmacht, and he refused to fight for Hitler and the Nazis. Because of this he was a conscientious objector, and then the German military placed him under arrest and he was taken to trial. For his refusal to fight, he was sentenced to death and was executed. Inside of an execution chamber, Franz Jagerstatter was executed on the guillotine.
