Imo Aero’s positive reputation is built off selling cheap lowers that everyone mates to a high quality upper like BCM or others. It’s pretty hard to mess up a chunk of aluminum and some springs. An upper that bears the pressure of firing and cycling on the other hand…
@GetLeVeLed4 ай бұрын
That brings up a question: what is it that actually matters? The lower itself won't really make a difference; neither will the stripped upper on its own. Barrels will have different accuracy and lifespans but won't make a gun more or less reliable. Ditto for most parts, I would think. BCG is pretty critical... what else actually matters for reliability?

The only real QC issue I've ever had was with Aero. The channel where the charging handle should slide in the upper was not milled. Like it had a rough-cut circular hole and the whole thing went on to the next steps and got finished and shipped that way. To Aero's credit they fixed it all up for me, shipped the upper back and sent me a replacement. Still just an interesting data point, never had a QC issue with any of my PSAs. Not that I would hold up PSA to be a pillar of quality. Don't be afraid to buy budget shit if that's gonna allow you to shoot the fuck out of it. Most everyone is limited by cash. You'll be a better shooter buying a PSA or Aero and shooting it until it shits the bed after 5000 rds vs blowing your whole load on the rifle and barely shooting it.

Built my own 14.5” out of all aero parts. I’ve put about 2500 rounds through it, about half with an RC2. Accuracy has been acceptable ~2-2.5 MOA with cheap 55 grain. At the time it was all I could afford. Looking to upgrade to something better in the future. In my personal experience it has been better than the PSA rifles I have shot, but not as good as the BCM, Noveske, geissele, etc. No malfunctions suppressed or unsuppressed. Would not be surprised if issues begin to come up around 5k rounds. TLDR my Aero rifle has been fine so far, but that is at a relatively low round count.

As a primarily rifle shooter, heck even shoot PCC in USPSA, I can say that if you are buying a rifle that is a complete build from AERO, then they are complete trash. Just like Ben I wanted to see how a completed rifle build from AERO's would do, well lets just say that after like about 3,000 rounds the barrel so warped, I saw some small cracking near the bolt lugs, etc. So yes AERO is now in the same class as Anderson's which is in the bad tier. One good thing is that my AERO lower itself was in spec so I was able to put a hiper fire ecl trigger, battle arms 45 degree safety, and the roll pins for the hiper fire has not walked out yet. I put a centurion 14.5 barrel along with a smoke composite handguard, switched out the BCG with a unrivaled lightweight competition BCG. Basically the only thing AERO on my PCC is the lower. I basically replaced everything cause they were garbage. Now the crazy thing is, my BCM KMR 16 which I bought back in 2016 has nearly 60,000 rounds mostly just training and rifling is still great, BCG is still great, now the extractor spring in the BCG was replaced simple due to being worn out, but the bolt and BCG are still in top notch shape. BCM makes work horse rifles.

All my guns are colt or geissele, with geissele being my preference with the super duties, and the colts being the old colt before colt vanished. I don't think I have a rifle that isn't under $4k in it, that's quite a bit for a casual shooter. For $1.5k I can build out a decent rifle, I can pick up a DDM4 upper for under $1k, geissele lower kit for $50, geissele trigger $180, bcm buffer kit $150, I have a ton of take off stocks and grips so free, $60 lower. All in $1,440 and you have a great rifle. Add a holosun (I don't like holosun but that's because I'm a hateful CCP loser) for $300 and you have an even better rifle. I also shoot suppressed most of the time on 11.5 because I really care about my health so my rifles see quite a bit of abuse with the back pressure etc. My larger caliber LR stuff uses flow through suppressors (Smoke in the face looking through glass doesn't help), but I use RC2s for the carbines. I appreciate the feedback because there is no way I am able to put that many rounds down range through my ar. 🤔with all the ar's in this country I wonder how many have actually been zeroed -and these would be the people saying they have never had a problem. Just for the record, I bought a BCM even though I will never put enough rounds through it to find the limits. I leave that task to guys like you and Lucas 👍
