Took London 0 Hull 4 into work in the early 80s. I worked in a factory and everybody loved it. We had a big ghetto blaster in the corner and definetly made us all work harder and happier. Toe tapping tremendous times. WB Alloys: Coatbridge was the factory. A wee shout out for my ex workmates.

Literally wore out 'London 0 Hull 4' back in the day. The cassette sounded like a deaf dog begging to a mushy beat by the time I replaced it. And I was still listening to it! 'Johannesburg' from 'The People Who Grinned' still gives me chills every time I listen to it. Man, sometimes, this whole Internet thing really pays off. Came across this randomly and now I'm going to be smiling all day. Thanks, fellas, once again.

Saw them at the International in 86 support from the Proclaimers… bunked in, there were fisticuffs as the crowd was gobbing on Heaton, he was having none of it and lashed ale on the offenders then it got a bit handbags, lighting stands and mic stands were pulled over and threats issued… peace broke out and it was a stellar show. Heaton left the stage with… Thank you Manchester, Liverpool last night were a far better crowd…

As a six year old the vthis music used get me hyper. My mom loved the housemartins and was always in the cassette player.

At first listen I thought they were just a Smiths copy but the lyrics were far more interesting -- Morrissey charmed pimply teenagers hiding in their rooms, Heaton made them all want to go out and fight the system.
