HFY is a story/series that takes a “human element” in either humanity or an “other” (race/species or object) that exists in a “setting” (future or other world/universe) with varying levels of culture, technology, society and history that help show in some shape or form the potential good or bad for humanity’s race/culture. In These stories Humans are often referred to as Human, Humanity, Deathworlder, Hellwolder in reference to the human planet of origin , Earth. This planet is seen by most of the universe as a place where only death and chaos can survive.

Humans Are Space Orcs (HASO) or Humans Are (Fantasy Race) Are used as a guide when writing.
In these Stories we normally View humans like the other races view orcs in a Fantasy Novel. We (Humans) share the same characteristics and personalities as orcs. Humans are normally treated as the outsiders and barbarians. Humans tend to be underestimated as well in these stories. Unlike Humanity Feck Yea , these don't always put a positive spin on humans\humanity sometimes looking at the darker side of human and humanity from the perspective of aliens.

Love that first comment about lawyers becoming a D&D class. I knew that second story wasn’t going to go how the xeno admiral thought it was going to when he noted that the human ships were mostly ammunition storage. He should have suspected that he would get the opportunity to see a lot of that ammo close up real soon.

24 inch gatling guns. for comparison. the US built IOWA class battleships carry 9 16 inch x .50 caliber guns. we hit those aliens with MILLIONS. we unloaded enough firepower to literally erase a large planetoid possibly an earth like world with pure kinetics... just DAUM. we brought the crust crackers.

i can see the scene in the second story: after the 3 ship fire, an impossible number of metal pole flew to the flotilla, their shield held with difficulty against the first few but failed micro second later under the sheer number, mass and velocity of the 'arrow' X3

not only would the recoil, or equal and opposite reaction (according to wrinkle brain Newton dude), propel them out of the path of the incoming rounds, I don't think plasma shots could stop or even slow any incoming rounds kinetic, just superheat them, which could also be a problem... it affects the impact by making it more of a splash instead of a sudden hard thud, but that has its own ramifications, I would surmise. Kinda silly, but fun little story.

Assuming 9000 years/2000 ships = 4 1/2 years of production, isn't too terrible but who knows how long their ships stay commissioned or how much of the fleet(s) have to protect against other species/Pirates that could still be a good chunk of "deployable ships". And the humans didn't even lose one ship.
