When Meredith Emerson disappeared while hiking in Georgia, a massive search began. The news reports would then lead to the identification of Gary Michael Hilton, who had taken her. In his interviews with police Gary Hilton rambled on and on, however, it would turn out he had another name: The National Forest Serial Killer.

The ONLY thing I hear when he speaks: an experienced killer, armed with a dog, a knife and a police baton, surprise attacks a young woman. She fights him off twice, bare handed. And when she can't get away, she outwits him. She survives 72 agonizing hours by convincing him she can't recall her pin. She never does give him the correct number, never stops trying. And her delay tactics, though they couldn't save her, got him caught. Meredith Emerson must have been an extraordinary person. I dearly hope her family and friends take solace in that. She stopped him.

I was thinking the same thing. She was able to stall him and put him in the path of witnesses, which got him identified. She fought him off twice and managed to slow him down by feigning no memory of her pin number. It's just too bad she didn't have a weapon of her own to defend herself with. I hope women take note from this and carry a weapon if hiking in the woods alone. I would never go into any forest alone without a firearm. Animals attack people and so do human predators. Too many people go missing in our national forests. Safety first folks.

Props to the man who called in to nab the guy. The fact he was suggesting he could take the guy down for them to help prevent destroying evidence is an amazing person. I can see why the cops wouldn’t allow him to do it though, for the safety of him and also in case he was about to wrestle a potentially innocent person. Glad he was caught.

Yeah, I heard that years ago, and it always stuck with me. Your best chance for surviving an abduction is in the first minute or so of the attack. I don't remember the actual statistics, but if they manage to get you into a car/building/house, your chances of making it out alive drops exponentially. Believing them when they say, "Don't resist, and I'll let you go", is the absolute worst thing you can do in that moment....and personally, I'd rather they shoot me then, and there, because it might not be fatal, than let them do all manner of terrible things to me, before my inevitable death. I won't get into specifics, but I was in a situation like this, only I was in my house, so there was no taking me elsewhere, and needless to say, it was awful, so I'm really glad you posted this advice. Who knows, it could help save a life.

I feel the same way when I hear about someone who is forced to dig their own grave. Sorry, but that isn't happening. If you are going to kill me anyways, why should I make it easy for you? Do whatever you can. Hell, chuck the shovel at their face and attack with everything you have. You will likely still be killed; but at least you have some sort of chance. And your story of fighting to the very end will be respected.

He explained that state parks, campgrounds, & wilderness areas can be a refuge of last resort for those on the fringe of society. Before they found her, I remember taking my dog out for a walk one cold night here alone and thinking/praying for her. The gas station they captured her attacker at is right down the street from me and I’d been there countless times. I still think of her and wonder if Ella is still alive… my pup who was Ella’s age passed away in July 2019 at the age of 12.5. December 10th 2007. I was hiking alone and when I reached Preacher’s rock trailhead I stoped at the parking spot for a break and there was an old grandpa wearing a bright and old green sweater that stinked kinda bad. He was sitting on the back of his van with a golden retriever so I asked him if I could pet his dog ( as I have 2 golden retrievers and they’re the best dogs) he said yes and he started asking me where I was from and what do I do for a living? And if I was hiking alone or in a group? He also asked me if a have any guns or knifes because last week there was a mountain lion attack that almost killed a hiker. I told him not I don’t have a gun but I have a small pocket knife that I showed him. He said that’s not enough to kill a mountain lion. I was like well I hope I don’t encounter one. Then we chatted for a little bit and he started ranting about the federal government. And before I was leaving he told me If he could join me on the trail because he really wanted to hike up but he being an old man and suffering from heart conditions so if something happens to him at least I could tell police where he was. I felt something, a strange sensation in my gut by the way his eyes looked. He had some really penetrating gaze and he would always make direct eye contact that I couldn’t hold so I would look away for some seconds. After thinking what should I say this old grandpa I told him “I’m sorry but I’m in a hurry and I really want to walk fast to get to the top before sunset” he kinda looked mad and said aight I’ll just wait for someone else. I proceeded to hit the trail but I could never forget his gaze. Even tho he was an old man his gaze gave me a bad vibe and I was thinking about it the whole trail. 25 days later when I was at home I watched this same guy in a mugshot on the news channel so I turned the volume up because I was intrigued I thought he died on the trial (because he told me he had heart problems) to find out he kidnapped and killed a girl about 15 miles on another parking lot. The guy I interacted with was fcking serial killer Gary Michael Hilton. I think he asked the same questions and told the same story to Meredith Emerson and she was kind and good hearted so she agreed to hike with the “old grandpa with heart problems”. So now I don’t trust anyone even if they have good intentions and they greet me I just say hi and continue my hike without stopping and if they ask me to stop to ask me a questions I just say sorry I’m in a hurry and keep going. I also carry a 9mm Glock 43x. It’s small and concealable. Another crazy experience happend another year before when I was hiking and at the distance I saw a naked old guy just walking around. So I freaked out and stopped before he was gone. Stay safe guys. Never trust anyone

Last year I really has started unsubscribing allot of channels because of bad habits like desperate sponsor-pushing, comment, like and subscribe-begging. Still just complaining about KZbin's problems. It's obvious that the problems with KZbin is just another cash-grab-phrase by this point. Let's be real, the problems and changes has been a problem for about 5 years now. It's their fault in the long run for not properly adapting while also respecting their fanbase. And for not supporting unions like FairTube etc. in fair of getting blacklisted. Sorry if it seemed like I went off a bit here, but it really is the same KZbinrs that mostly complain without doing anything real or adapting, who also is the worst towards their fanbase. I respect anyone who respect me as a viewer. This guy does indeed seem rather respectful towards his fanbase that he doesn't beg in the beginning, he just tells you his story and end it on the promotional stuff, which is the only right way. Any sensible person will not like, subscribe, patreon or any other BS before they have watch the content delivered. Especially not if you get told to do that even before you know what the heck you are watching. And "five-minutes" of sponsor-advertisement bundled in with that in the beginning of the video will have me leaving in an instant. :)
