The successful McStay family were living in California, but their disappearance was inexplicable. They are eventually traced to Mexico, when the trail went cold and they were never seen again. That is, until a surprise discovery was made in the desert.

I know, what a scumbag. Summer spent her last minutes alive trying to defend her little boys from a vicious murderer's hammer blows. Rick Baker then slandered her as a killer. It's a shame the dead can't sue, as he deserves to be bankrupted - he must have caused Summer's loved ones a lot of additional pain while they searched and prayed for her, Joseph and their babies. RIP Summer - she looked to me like a happy woman who loved her husband and kids and being a wife and mother to them. If I'm remembering correctly, it was Joseph's mom that first pointed the finger at Summer, claiming that she'd always suspected that Summer was a greedy gold digger because she was a couple years older than "joey" and because "living at the beach was very important to her." Meanwhile all of Summer's friends said that she was extremely patient, kind, and loving, and that her attachment to the ocean was based on the effects it had on her emotional wellbeing, nothing to do with a status symbol. They also pointed out that summer had willingly given up the house that she loved and moved away with Joseph in order to support his dreams, but his mom seemed to wave that off like it was meaningless. After it came out that joe's business partner had murdered the whole family, his mom did an immediate about face, and began acting as though she had always loved her daughter in law and had never publicly trashed her... I always thought it was kind of 💩 that she didn't publicly recant and apologize for the things that she and a few people from her side of the family said about the mother of her grandchildren. Several of the accusations that she made really crossed the line.

I agree with you, however when you are completely immersed in grief and wondering where your child and grandchildren are, you can start to think anything, I mean anything is possible. You'll search and think of every possible scenario you can because you desperately want answers and you want your loved ones back. Again I agree with you but I'd give her a pass because desperate people do things like this. In you heart you know they are dead yet you so very much need to find them and what actually happened. It's not closure. But it's an answer to desperation.

It actually infuriates me knowing some crackpot wrote a book demonising the mother, Summer, and blaming her for everything, and knowing that the families killer did a TV interview where he further demonised her absolutely infuriates me. It never ceases to amaze me the amount of cases in the USA where they have the killer doing a TV interview, it’s just nuts knowing how many of them seem to think doing an interview will make them look better, when it just incriminates them.

Excellent summary, Mike, thanks. I own a copy of that book "No Good-Byes" - even before the 4 bodies were discovered, I was stunned that the author could point the finger with such assurance - and be totally wrong.

However if it's the latter, then wow, I guess I just got "ratioed" by an incel. 😱 Now hurry along and wipe the Cheetos dust off of your gamer chair, you bitter disappointment.

I will say chase’s little speech of injustice after his conviction was impressive. Sounds like his family totally believed his BS as families often do in these cases. I suppose they don’t want to believe their loved one could bash two children to death with a hammer!

@@kricket8801 it takes a whole team of people behind the scenes to produce videos like this - writers, editors, researchers, videographers, etc. Most large channels employ production teams, and then they have a “face” who delivers the content, in this case Mike.

@@daisy8284 Probably, but he's never posted anything about them online. Most face of the channels would. I don't even know of any content creation companies based out of Dublin, Meath or Kildare that specialize in stuff like this but I'm sure they exist. Then again, everything can be done remotely too. So yeah, I'd say there's a team too. Mike puts out a lot of content frequently.

I remember this story from before the gravesite was found..thought about it often and the blurry cctv footage from the border. I always assumed it was work related and wish the “no-crime” laws could be updated in some way to allow them to have come to this conclusion sooner..but I am so glad the family finally has closure, and people like us have closure ❤️ sad ending but I’m so glad he was finally caught.
