RIGHT!?! I just commented about that, as well!! That was creepy and disconcerting AF! So, so wrong in so many ways! I'm sorry, but that transition between (ostensible) distraught weeping to perky cheerfulness and then immediately back to crying? FAKE. That coldness totally gave me chills. Poor girl: that's such a shockingly unnatural, programmed way for a kid respond to supposedly JUST hearing that your mother hung herself...which is why that recording also told *me* everything I needed to know about JUST how twisted, coached and controlled by her dad she was. I must admit that I honestly do have tremendous sympathy for her, because I believe that once her dad's control wears off (and it most likely will) she'll be hit with the full emotional impact of knowing that she essentially aided and abetted in the murder of her own mother. When or if the full impact of all that hits her, I have little doubt she'll be utterly destroyed emotionally. In essence, this monster didn't just murder his wife...he also twisted and tampered with his own child's mind, heart & soul in the most cold, callous, calculating and evil ways imaginable. I can only hope that someday his daughter will find healing from his cruel & repulsive abuse of her mind.

My mother and found my sister, who had decided to do the same as Michelle. I still have nightmares. And I will never forget my mom's cries. It's... Unreal. You look, and think something, then look again and reality starts seeping in like black ice down your neck and back. I will say, the first responders were absolutely fantastic, including the cop my (4'11") mom was pounding her fists on, demanding to see her daughter. You never ever forget, even 20 years later.

This is the perfect example of child manipulation and it’s sickening. As a parent who has gone through a long drawn out custody battle with an emotionally abusive ex husband, which came out in the end it boiled down to not wanting to pay child support, I can see so many similarities in this case. But luckily I’m still here to tell my story. At the end of the day, children no matter their age shouldn’t be used as pawns to get what you want because the ones that are truly hurt in the end are the children and the lifelong damage it causes is sometimes irreparable 😢

I did the same thing and I still struggle not to use a “baby voice” in situations where I feel uncomfortable. It’s a defense mechanism, an effort to get your abuser to feel empathy for you or to keep them from becoming explosive. The same goes fir "love," "dear," " my love," " my lovely" or if you're in Devon, "my lover." "Sweetie" is derived from "sweeting." It only appears to be considered sexual by the younger generation but has literally been around for hundreds of years.

When I was in college (20 years ago) studying criminal law, that same narrative was being pushed about race and victimhood. I believed it and thought the justice system was racist. That is until I started to do actual research and case studies. The numbers do not match that narrative. There are some cases (mostly very old ones) that can be contributed to racism but the vast majority do not have anything to do with it. In fact, you often see the opposite where blacks get more breaks and more lenient sentences. Maybe you’ll read this far or maybe you won’t. But the truth is more important than any agenda. I cannot believe how far this BS has spun out of control. The truth is that POOR people are far more likely to be targeted or put in jail unfairly than anyone else. It’s not a race issue but a socioeconomic issue.

Later her dad asked her if she could produce some tears when she was getting interviewed by the detectives. Carrie had a talent for pulling off emotions that she wasn't feeling.

I'm not defending her but it's not that bizarre. When listening to war vets tell stories or anyone talking about past traumatic events they usually go through a whole range of emotion. Chuckling one second and then choking up and crying the next second then straight deadpan talking. Emotions come in unpredictable waves. She probably intended to speak normally but it's hard to fight that lump in the throat when it shows up mid-sentence
