hello and congratulations for the video. I have a question. in the first example of pit strategy (2 hours at SPA) last you put 61L of fuel and 67% of VE. what would have changed if you put 100% of VE and 61L of fuel?
@alexkayracing
@alexkayracing 18 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching mate! If you put 100% VE instead of 67% then the pitstop would take longer. The rule with virtual energy is that the pit crew actually have to stand there and pretend to put it in the car (it’s the same in real life)
@testina89
@testina89 18 күн бұрын
@alexkayracing ok Alex! It's like having two separate tanks. One fake (VE) and one real (fuel) each with its own consumption and neither can remain empty. Thanks!
@alexkayracing
@alexkayracing 17 күн бұрын
@ yes correct! But what you do is make sure they are the same amount and that’s how you know you are doing it right. If you only get a maximum of 22 laps for example from your VE bar, then make sure you do not put more than 22 laps worth of fuel in the tank!

I wonder if LMU will have preset pit stops like rf2 but add in your VE in there

Oh could you mean like ACC where you can save pitstop strategies? Yeah that would be awesome

in the first long race example at the last stint for 15 laps you are telling to put lower virtual energ (67%) but i heard that this energy is just only virtual and doesnt slow down the car like if you have more fuel, so is it even worth it to take lower then 100% ? does it changes anything ?
@alexkayracing
@alexkayracing Ай бұрын
You have to fill that virtual energy up in the pitstop though (the pit crew basically have to stand there and pretend the fill the Virtual Energy like in real life). So in a pitstop to fill 67% virtual energy is much faster than filling 100% virtual energy

VE must be set to 100% in even a 5-10lap short race?
@alexkayracing
@alexkayracing Ай бұрын
Yes, it’s not adding any weight to your car. For example if it’s a 10 lap race you set VE to 100% and for your fuel just multiply your fuel per lap by 10 ( or 11 if you want to safe)
@Ked_gaming

I dont understand why people put 100% Virtual Energy for shorter sessions, makes no sense. If you have to pit you spend the same time in the pits than if you did a full replenishing stop because you have to stop for a certain time for a certain % of VE replenishing. Am I wrong ? I think it's what it does
@alexkayracing
@alexkayracing Ай бұрын
Because in a short session there’s no point starting with less than 100%, it adds no weight to the car. If you can have 100% of something at no cost to your performance, then why have less if that makes sense. If you are doing a short race like 20 or 40 minutes etc. and you have to go pit then it’s because you’ve ruined your race by crashing or doing something else wrong anyway. Same as with a long race. You should always start the race with 100% Virtual Energy.
@ShawnHinck
@ShawnHinck Ай бұрын
Because I don’t want to deal with the car running out of virtual energy. You lose nothing by doing it, but can get penalized for not doing it.
@ShawnHinck
@ShawnHinck Ай бұрын
I wish they would get rid of the fuel ratio, it’s redundant and not really how people calculate fuel, you’re thinking in something like gallons or liters. That way it’s much easier to deal with in the MFD
@alexkayracing
@alexkayracing Ай бұрын
That’s a fair point actually, you do see how much fuel will go into the tank to the right of the MFD when your adjusting the fuel ratio but something simplistic would be good
@ShawnHinck
@ShawnHinck Ай бұрын
@ yeah, I’d rather see the ratio gone, just tell me how much and how many laps just like virtual energy simply because it’s not a 1:1 thing. Although maybe we will get the Aston Martin next year and it’s not a hybrid so that will help simplify that car 😂
@alexkayracing
@alexkayracing Ай бұрын
@ we we should hopefully get it cos it’s on the WEC grid, thing will sound awesome

Why virtual energy to 100%?
@alexkayracing
@alexkayracing Ай бұрын
In a short race? Because it's more than enough for the race. Virtual energy does not put any weight on your car, because its not a physical thing. So just put it at 100% This was covered in episode 1 of the beginner series
@cal50x
@cal50x Ай бұрын
@@alexkayracing I agree, but then You have to click multiple times on fuel ratio to get what You need. For Virtual energy You have slider without going into setup, it's much faster that way. Thats why I have asked what is the purpose of this :D
@alexkayracing
@alexkayracing Ай бұрын
@@cal50x Do not trust that slider. There has been plenty of times where it has caused people to run out of fuel or virtual energy towards the end of the race, especially if you start to drive faster lap times towards the end of the race. Doing it this way only takes a couple of seconds and will always be accurate.

What happens when you have a race and the fuel multiplier is 3x?
@alexkayracing
@alexkayracing Ай бұрын
Your fuel and ve per lap would be 3 x more, which means a full bar of VE would last less laps; so it works out the same :) for example at spa if the fuel multiplier is x2 then a full bar of VE will only last 11 laps not 22. It just means you have to make more pitstops in the race is all
