As 2023 draws to a close, what are you looking back on? How will you document your life in 2024? I am so grateful for many things but especially for the ❤ and support from all of you who have accompanied Vitaly & I as we walked through all of 2023 and all its joys and challenges. I have documented my life as my husband's care giver for the past 15 years, My husband died Jan. 3, 2024. Like you, we never choose to have children. Our parents are dead, and we had no brothers or sisters. Alone now, I am not sure I want to continue living in Europe or moving to another European country. I have never been to Asia. But I am not sure how I would manage alone there not speaking the language. I am also tired of coming from another culture with different values and living in the new culture where I do not really fit in. Like you, I am a lawyer, but an American one. I retired at age 33 and married my husband at age 39. I also do not want to return to USA. Difficult times for myself ahead.

I record and take pics of everything! I use snapchat for my personal videos. I can save them.and send them to my sisters. Ive been taking pics since i was 12yrs old! And whenever people need pics they always come to me.😄

Thanks Doug, the photobooks take a bit of work but are super worth the effort! Strangely enough, there's one big chunk of my life completely undocumented and thats the 7 years i was a corporate hamster - it's just... blank. Turns out i didn't take like a single photo at work capturing what happened there lol. But so happy that I documented the happy parts quite well. its nice to look back on especially at the end of the year! I suppose when you have a family those things may be important to you and them. No matter what the choices one makes they always affect others in certain manners, family or not. So its always good to make choices that wont affect others in a bad manner. And all we have to do is look at the consequences of our choices before making them.

Hii Jean, how do you store and mange your photos given the huge amount of memory it would require? Any tips ?

Hi! that's such a good question! To start with, digital photos means we tend to be so shutter happy so i do take time to go thru my pics and delete the excess and the unwanted. Then I stick them in an external hard drive with labels so i can find them after if needed! I use the Sandisk Extreme if that helps - its pretty indestructible i love it i feel my data is v safe there

Hi there, thank you for all the many sweet well wishes and thank you so much for your message in this note - it made me feel very happy - i hope he's felt that way in recent years, since during my early years after I quit my legal career he was SOOOOOO unhappy. He didn't speak to me for over 2 years actually back then. Did the whole Asian "My kid doesn't exist" thing to show disapproval lol. Ah well. But now he's so happy most days. It's nice to see. you certainly make a lot of sense but i always tell myself that i am the perfect photo mate. I make everyone else look better in the photos. makes me think, we used to keep diaries and later blog. Now it is electronic images, videos and albums
