Hello Father, Lila. Father. Thank you for sharing your conversion, also becoming a Priest. I am also from Ontario. In your charity could you pray for my nephew Richard, a lost soul. He has had a difficult life since 5 yrs old when my sister died. His life has been abnormal, much suffering, spending most of his life on the computer, much by himself. We tried, but it is complicated situation. I keep praying that Jesus will call him to be a Priest. He is a Baptized Catholic, a good young man, but such lacking in guidance for his soul. Lila! Yes & so, I am 63, I fast every day between 16 and 18 hours, I lift heavy weights, I also fast 24 hours once or twice a month & i'm OK, I am as strong as a bull. If one eats real food that God made, not fake food or things that appear to be food , but God sanctified as food, then you will be satiated. One wants to eat real food, because we want to be real ;). Like I have told my kids, it takes time to become a man or a woman of God, but you have to have a beginning somewhere. same thing in our dietary habits. Thank God he has taught us not to live on food alone, but by every word that comes out of his mouth. And with all that being said , let's not let our stomachs rule over us !

You said in your podcast that “you don’t eat meat on Fridays if you’re Catholic or Orthodox” implying that the Orthodox fast the same as Catholics. We Orthodox abstain from meat and all animal products for the complete 40 days of Lent, as well as every Wednesday and Friday.

There are different ways to fast, find what works for you.

I assume the drop in glucose had to do with you taking insulin. In that case, you would have to take less insulin to make sure you're at a good level. I am type 1 and I do find it beneficial to at least do 16 hour intermittent fastings, but always remember to break it with something sweet in case the sugars drop. Either way, diabetics are exempt from fasting, but we should do what we can. If we can't fast, we should try to compensate that by restricting the types of food we eat.

St Irenaus called her the New Eve before 200 AD. We don’t overemphasize her. Protestantism goes out of its way to denigrate her and her unique role in Salvation. Many sneer at her and hold her in contempt. One of the Commandments is honor your mother. Jesus was sinless there for He honored His mother. We are to follow His example. Ergo- we honor her. You know who else hates Mary? The devil so you’re not in good company. And save the stupid argument that she detracts from Jesus.
