I stress out about bikes losing value. My brain I think has just been brainwashed by the consumer world where we're told if we put to many ks it's worth nothing, if it's a couple years old it's obsolete because the next model has 3% extra power that you dont even notice. How do you guys maintain your "nah I'll die with this bike" I long for that one and done mentality.

It's all about what you're experienced with, you learn what to look for on the roads you ride. But it's also why you should find reviewers who ride on similar roads to you, I know I find a lot of American reviews confusing when they talk about gearing being a bit low for freeway speeds, feeling like 600 or even 800's are a little small and so on when i live in New Zealand, very similar roads to the UK, and going over 120hp slowly gives a worse ride as you're not going fast enough for the bike to be happy. Crazy the way they behave on such different roads

It seems the entire issue of "feel" with Yamaha sportsbike brakes relates to the extra plumbing used for ABS. Then except for the "feel" part it seems like they do actually work acceptably well....but I have never heard it explained how other brands/models manage to have both ABS and reportedly stellar brake feel and performance? More on the brakes I am fascinated to learn that the much cheaper R9 is getting Brembo stylema with steel lines! and full on 31mm rotors rather than the MT09s little 29s. Not only that but apparently R9 gets an updated version of the R1/R6 43 mil KYB forks!... which at first glance look rather identical until you realize the right cap has only "tension" damping adjuster so apparently KYB is copying the other high end forks that have rebound on one side and compression on the other....except I think I recall seeing TWO damping screws on the R9's left leg's cap? Does that make sense to have both rebound and compression on left side but only rebound aka "tension" on the right? Makes me wonder will the 2025 UK track only R1 get these same upgrades? More importantly to me Will tus Yanks get it for 2025 street R1? I love the CP3 motor but it is so weak compared to the mighty YZFR1 CP4 engine! Now I am debating put a deposit down for an R9? or wait for a hopefully upgraded (to Brembos and new forks) R1? And no I am not paying for the M....Honestly I KNOW an R9 would be ample power I know but I so love this CP4! even in my lowly MT-10 with "only" 165 horses! That btw makes my CP3 powered Tracer 9 gt feel rather anemic.....and then if I buy either the R1 or the new R9 one of my current bikes (23 MT-10 or "22 T9gt) will have to go if I want to stay married....which hmmmm? ya know?

There's just something about these bikes. They are animals that also tickle you!

@@Englishbikerdan I've owned a number of these type of bikes long before the phrase "litre bike" had even been coined. My first was when I traded in my 1974 CB450 for a 1984 FJ1100. The power & torque were just something you couldn't explain. I let a bunch of people ride that bike just to see the expression on their faces. When I had a chance to ride my brother in law's RSV4 recently, the giggle factor went up an order of magnitude.

I had no idea the R1 was an inline 4.

Yamaha, Kawasaki and Suzuki run inline 4s, same as with their racing bikes …

I love any bike that represents unnecessary lunacy. Bye bye R1
