@@oykuylmaz6105 Ok. Let me try to express it better: Equality means that everyone has value, every life is precious, and people are free to make choices and have agency. Equality does NOT mean that all people must actually be the same. Two people can be extremely different, from different backgrounds, and with different beliefs, and yet they can still be *equal* in worth and freedom. An effort to make men more like women and vice versa is horribly at odds with equality. Forcing everyone to be the same means taking *away* freedom.

Another point: my husband is a long bearded combat veteran, rides a Harley, and people never fail to make assumptions on his character based on appearance. I make no apologies for wanting a traditionally masculine man. I'm a very feminine woman. We have traditional roles, by choice. He respects me, cherishes me and I, in turn, respect him for all his contributions. There's nothing *toxic* about a man being traditionally masculine.

When I was 13-14 years old, my mother, who is a social worker, took me to a lecture at her job, which was about domestic violence. She felt that as a man I should attend such a seminar to learn how bad domestic violence is. I was happy to attend because I always considered it a bad thing. The first thing the woman who gave the lecture said was that she was a lesbian. Ok, no one asked her, but ok. The next thing she said was that she wouldn't start teaching as long as I was there. Everyone was shocked, and logically my mother mostly. I was the only man, and the other women rebelled and said it was discrimination, that I was a boy and that I should hear those things. My mother got into a heated argument with her and told her that if there was no room for me there she would not attend either. However this woman who taught said that either I am going or she will not start talking. Not wanting to put my mother in an awkward situation, because it was her job after all, I got up and left. I have never felt so humiliated in my life.

Since the first time I heard it, I have always been highly suspicious of the term “Toxic Masculinity.” To me, if a behavior is toxic, then it simply isn’t masculine, but a corruption away from it. Also, thank you for drawing attention to the seething hatred behind how so many men have been mistreated. Any victim of abuse deserves compassion and help. Accusing them of misogyny simply because they felt abused… that is so evil.

I am late responding to this, but I am so sick (as a woman) of society pushing the message that I need to be more assertive and man-like. I quite like domestic life, and am soon wanting to start a family. I am young, and in the peak time of my life to bring children into the world. Also, it is so toxic to make fun of women who are more "traditional," too. The women who love make-up, high heels, and everything. I only like some jewelry, and light make-up, but still. Women need to stop defining that being a woman in this modern day means having to act more manly. On another note, as a child of a single mother, my mom did the best she could raising me. But, I wish I had had a father; according to studies, children need fathers. Children growing up without them have a higher rate of depression, and mental disorders. Yes, I realize that in the modern day, it is important to have both parents working (especially with the economy the way it is). But, I am fine with living being a stay-at-home mom, because my job would be to raise my beloved children to become good, and responsible members of society. That is a very important duty.

I see that some people on here are viewing your opinion with skepticism. I guess they can't believe people with real life opinions are actually telling the truth. Because continuing down these diverging paths leads to a broken Society. It appears that the some of the younger crowd of women believe that you can sleep with an endless count of men and expected to remain valuable in a man's eyes. What this Behavior leads to his lack of self-control, which in turn promotes the lack of trust on our part , which also means she has a stronger chance of cheating to get her next fix so to speak and the same goes for men also. I really agree with the education part. At 16 I was a bit "out of control", more like not being myself and was very lazy. If it wasn't for a very good male teacher of mine (maths teacher), I don't know if my life would have been the same. He told me he was proud of my previous academic achievements, but had fallen extremely behind lately. He then asked me if everything was alright and if I needed help (he also "challenged" to do better the next semester and he would give me a better overall grade). As a "man", I did not really give him much feedback, but his desire to help and just him approaching me was a very important milestone in my life. I had countless female teachers, but none of them took their time with me. tldr: a man needs male (and masculine) role models.

Boys are falling behind. I tell my son to never be ashamed of his talents, intelligence and accomplishments. All too often he comes home and says he got the best grade on a test or something, but is admonished by the teacher when he feels excited in class by his performance. The dismantling of competition based on skill, intelligence or some other measure, robs boys of a sense of accomplishment.

I took my kids out of school. I have three boys. They really thrived once they were out. I gave them the choice of staying in or homeschooling and they all chose to learn from home. They are respectful, kind, helpful and they love volunteering in our community. I wish I could have done this, because school was terrible. Then again, back when I was in school starting from the early 80s, we could also be physically punished in school, so I’m sure that acted as a deterrent. Now it’s mental abuse they are dolling out.

That's this notion of "equity" that they are pushing so hard. It doesn't allow for success, it doesn't allow for people to thrive, to shine, to excel, it doesn't allow for greatness, it only allows for one thing: everybody being pushed down to the "equal" level of the lowest common denominator. Meaning all people will ultimately be forced down to illiteracy and abject poverty and serfdom. It's a process that has already long since began, and is progressing more and more every day. It may take a little while for us to get down to that rock bottom level, but we are on our way and accelerating toward it constantly, and we will get there soon enough if nothing is done to change it or to stop it.

Your words reminds me of that meme that says, “Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. Weak men create hard times.” One of the many issues is that we don’t allow men to have their own space. We don’t let them be creative in they way that men have been in the past. As you commented, strong male role models are needed for future men to succeed.A family man can teach boys how to treat women. I was luckily to have both of my grandfathers around me when I was growing up. They taught me several life lessons that have benefited me to this day. It seems most young men could benefit spending time with the older generation.

He doesn’t understand the man’s role as a husband, father, & provider. It’s so sad and makes my life so much harder because I am a woman & don’t know how to properly teach them to be real men! In my experience as a man, the single most defining aspect of masculinity is the ability to say "no" when necessary. Having an openly strong opinion with principles that you always consistently stick to is the epitome of manliness. It's the building block of a safe, strong foundation that family grows upon. Western culture divides feminine and masculine into two separate bodies, Eastern culture understands that each of us are both masculine and feminine, the balance isn’t in two separate beings aligning, it’s in ourselves. Many of us are realizing this and breaking free from the western concept, and men are embracing their long-suppressed feminine energy, women are also doing the same with their inherent masculine energy. We all share both. Balance is something personal that you can only achieve by yourself. No other person can bring that balance into your life but you.

I switch between wearing traditional male and female clothing, depending on my mood. I went through a period where I flirted with the idea of transitioning, male to female, and spent years on hormones. I stopped short of surgery, but discovered that breasts don't go away when the hormones stop. Oops. Now I'm in limbo. Like everything else in life, it has both drawbacks and advantages. It has made me appreciate what women have to go through. Dressing as a male, I can be ready to leave the house in a couple of minutes. Dressing as a woman takes at least an hour and the amount of accessories i have to wear and carry with me are truly daunting. One day I'm chopping firewood, the next my getting facial and having my nails done. I have one foot planted in each world, but don't i think i would feel totally comfortable embracing either one. I feel sufficiently balanced and i am happy where I am. My attitude wouldn't meet with the approval of the LGBTQIA + community, because I'm a little of each but refuse to identify with any of their classificatios. I would never expect or demand that anyone accept me as anything other than what I am..... an off beat but happy male. I live in my on world but I'm not crazy enough to think that wearing a dress and having breasts makes me a biological woman. Gender is assigned welll before birth and no matter how much i play with my hormones, my chrromosones remain the same. No amount of wishng or pretending can change that basic, biological fact. I had to talk to shrinks as part of the tranitioning process and they agreed that I'm sane and had the right to change my mind. But, for the country as a whole, I'm not sure it is sane anymore. Most people were nice and condescendingly called men dressing as women, women. Now these charmingly delusional transexuals are insisting that they are real women and will try to destroy the few sane people that refuse to play their little word games. Language is in freefall. I'm starting to feel like I may be the sanest one here, because I still have the ability to look at a tomato, know it is a tomato, can call it a tomato, feel confident that it was a tomato yesterday and have equal confidence that it will still be a tomato tomorrow. Honestly, this discussion is really simple: stop telling people what to do. Stop telling men to be less masculine. Stop telling men to be more masculine. Let people do whatever they want as long as it doesn’t harm anyone directly. It’s fine that women have preferences. It’s fine for a woman to say that she will not be attracted to a man who wears a dress, but it is not okay for anyone to tell them that they aren’t allowed to. Same thing goes with basically everything else. I’m not attracted to girls with blue hair, but I am not going to tell anyone that they shouldn’t dye their hair blue if that is what they want. Do your thing, as long as it is not harming anyone else. Thanks.

What is wrong with gender norms is that it's forcing plenty men and women to act in a different way than the one they feel comfortable. Like: A man will be shamed for wanting to be feminine. A woman will be shamed for wanting to be masculine.

That teacher part legit hit me hard. I was just talking to my mom about my middle school days. My female class teacher at the time used to make me sit with 'intelligent' students and told me it would help me since "they knew more than I did.". I legit carried the belief that this would always be true, that I would never be as good as those students.3 years later my maths teacher came along, and I started to attend his extra classes since I was a weak student. He told the class on my first day there," Beware of him! He has the potential to be the best here.". Those words of encouragement were boon to me. I realised how I was undervaluing myself. I studied hard, he encouraged me. Later on in high school (probably the best years of my life NGL), I carried it on with the same belief, that I was enough to get myself anywhere. Not to brag, but I became the vice-captain of my team, broke the districts record for marks in physics and chemistry. I would like to thank you, Mr. Arora, I wouldn't be in my dream college if you hadn't encouraged me.❤️

I agree that some of the examples could be anoying. But in many of those cases I couldn't see anything abusive - if someone said 'Hello, beautiful' I would respond 'Hello, thank you'. Some of those men said nothing more than a simple "hello" - when has it started being a crime?

I'm a man who has quite a lot of feminine qualities. Like I'm drawn towards caring jobs that are mostly done by women, I'm better at talking about emotions than putting up a shelf and so on. And I enjoy being this way. But in recent years I've noticed that any time I express masculine qualities, I get shot down and accused of being egotistical. I've also dated a few women who hated masculinity, yet were attracted by it, so basically the relationships were confusing AF. I've noticed that the more manly of my male friends are having a hard time, made to feel bad about themselves for being who they are. I'm cool with people not being super constricted by their gender roles... but society has already made this possible. What's happening now with the demonisation of masculinity is to me part of a wider pattern of human disempowerment, basically it makes us easier to control.
@fum4491
@fum4491 3 жыл бұрын
I think that most people forgot what masculinity actually means. It's not agressive Rambo-like violent, or Han Solo opressive flirt - charisma. It's being compassionete, thoughtful, brave (being brave means winning the fight with your fears). Being masculine is also something to be proud of, just like women should be proud of their unique traits (not acting like ,,toxic masculinity" they have commonly issues with, to prove they are ,,not weak"...). That said, man needs to be a bit like a women (for example - caring), and women a bit like man (for example - brave). I don't know it that makes any sense, but I am sure that it's great to have femine qualities, as long as they are positive traits (it's hard to deny, that both of us are born with flaws). We are born men and women, to learn from each other and live in peace, not compete...

sexism is unfortunately a two-way street, men can be sexist towards women, and women sexist towards men, along with other gender varieties. I also have some feminine traits, like empathy and intellectual strength. The thing is man and woman aren't genders, they're sexes, biologically speaking. genders such as masculine and feminine are cultural, but there are many different cultures. I was wondering if feminism was more of a western trait, as the west seems to focus more on individuality and autonomy, while the east tends more towards communalism and submission to some degree, in a very generalised way of course.

@@peterstrom9618 From that link Jesus apparently also said: -"Those who have found themselves, of them the world is not worthy" - "If you do not fast from the world, you will not find the (Father's) kingdom." - "If your leaders say to you, 'Look, the (Father's) kingdom is in the sky,' then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, 'It is in the sea,' then the fish will precede you. Rather, the (Father's) kingdom is within you and it is outside you. When you know yourselves, then you will be known, and you will understand that you are children of the living Father. But if you do not know yourselves, then you live in poverty, and you are the poverty." And he continually describes the kingdom as something small or hidden or something that needs to be discovered: - "The Father's kingdom is like a merchant who had a supply of merchandise and found a pearl. That merchant was prudent; he sold the merchandise and bought the single pearl for himself. So also with you, seek his treasure that is unfailing, that is enduring, where no moth comes to eat and no worm destroys." - "The Father's kingdom is like [a] woman. She took a little leaven, [hid] it in dough, and made it into large loaves of bread. Anyone here with two ears had better listen!" - "The (Father's) kingdom is like a shepherd who had a hundred sheep. One of them, the largest, went astray. He left the ninety-nine and looked for the one until he found it. After he had toiled, he said to the sheep, 'I love you more than the ninety-nine.'" - "The (Father's) kingdom is like a person who had a treasure hidden in his field but did not know it. And [when] he died he left it to his [son]. The son [did] not know about it either. He took over the field and sold it. The buyer went plowing, [discovered] the treasure, and began to lend money at interest to whomever he wished." - "The person is like a wise fisherman who cast his net into the sea and drew it up from the sea full of little fish. Among them the wise fisherman discovered a fine large fish. He threw all the little fish back into the sea, and easily chose the large fish. Anyone here with two good ears had better listen!" So maybe the kingdom is within us. Deep in the subconscious. It is small and difficult to find but is so valuable that it may as well be the meaning and purpose of life itself. Carl Jung talks about this in his book Aion, and if he is to be believed before one can even attempt to reach the kingdom, or the tiny white fish symbolizing both it and Jesus throughout time, one first has to integrate their shadow. Confront your dark side and bring it under control. Then one has to do the same with their anima / animus. That is where your quote comes into play. To integrate your anima / animus is to incorporate your sexually opposite subconscious element into your being, bring under control it's negative aspects and allow the positive ones to thrive. For a man, for example, that would mean to allow some of your positive feminine qualities, like nurturing or emotional intuition, freedom to function in harmony with the rest of your being. By the way I think the idea of complete replacement of your primary category with the secondary one (for example the common leftist insistence that everyone should completely adopt their opposite sexual element and discard the primary) is misguided and is based on incorrect literal interpretation, as is their insistence on androgyny (assuming they are motivated by what I'm describing here). Once this second step is complete then one can attempt to find the divine spark within them and try to use what is best described as a sort of magnetic force to draw said spark out of hiding and into consciousness.

Yin and yang in the East. Order and Chaos in the West. Both represent, in part, the balance between the masculine and the feminine. Look at the little black dot in the white and the tiny white dot in the black. Every man has a feminine side and every woman has a masculine side. That complex aspect of the masculine-feminine balance has been corrupted by the minds of people without critical thinking skills. Ideological possession rejects the use of logic and evidence to come to conclusions. You think what you're told to think. Feel how you're told to feel. The ideas have you, you don't have ideas.

because gender is "fluid". men can have feminine interests and women can have masculine interests. yes there should be a balance, but every individual is unique and different. telling some one they have to behave in a certain way to fit in, is very wrong and dangerous. let people express their true selves, without harming or hurting others. if a man wants to wear a dress or put on make up whats the big deal. just because he's doing it doesn't mean everyones going to start copying him. that's the beauty of individual freedom. people can be themselves.

If I see him in magazines showing me the future trends for menswear, I say: "I will never wear this shit! I will never let force this on me!". - and I am triggered. Do you copy now?

What’s wrong with men and women being different. We can be different but still equal
@ChaoticButterfly
@ChaoticButterfly 3 жыл бұрын
Currently? In Western culture? Mostly the fact that femininity (being a woman) is seen as lesser. People, individually, might say they don't see it as lesser, however, using feminine traits/terms/etc. as insults, or as means of describing how you feel... "feminized" vs. "emasculated," even though, even in the definition of emasculate it associated femininity with cowardice ("make effeminate and cowardly"). Feminine traits are bad. Masculine traits are good. This is society's message. Predominantly feminine jobs aren't valued as much. Computer programming used to be female-dominated. The position got paid more when men took over the position, mostly. Hell, female work isn't valued as much. As more women become Biologists, the pay drops... same happened with Designers. I'm hardly a raging feminist. I look at facts, though, and facts are unfortunate, in many cases... for both sides. I'd like to think we can be different but equal, but we can see how that went in the Jim Crow South... it takes both sides being equally _valued,_ equally elevated. But, as long as there are "chick flicks," "chick lit," etc... I don't think equality is in the cards... unless we are gonna start calling some books "dick lit," or something... where the woman is not "the other."

@Scott90314
@Scott90314 3 жыл бұрын
@@ChaoticButterfly I think be feminine in some cases is bad and conversely masculine can be bad also it is the context that is important. I don't mean to be that guy, but biology has shaped us in ways that in the current year we still do not fully comprehend. I think it is silly to compare men and women as it is more of a apples to oranges comparison we are similar in some ways, but are different on more than just a skin deep level. The way we think, act, and carry ourselves is shaped some by our upbringing and environment for sure, but also by virtue of our sex in others. The jim crowe comparison is a bad comparison on a few levels, as those laws where made to sabotage and subvert the budding black middle class in the 50s, and secondly their is very little difference between a average black man and another average man. Where as the average man and woman compared the difference can be quite jarring in most cases. Shit the fact that there is no shortage of chick flicks or generic superhero/action flicks and people still gravitate to them is not that we are not equal by virtue of we are not the same, and to compare the two needlessly is just a attempt by some to push an agenda or be decisive for it's sale just my two cents anyway.

I don't hate Sydney at all. Instead, I'm saddened that GOPpers have such a shallow creed. When I consider a topic I dive deep. I generally learn something when I watch an intellectual's stuff. Not so with her. Sydney didn't make a single point that was more substantial that a coat of cheap paint. I get the impression that she's a decent person, but for whatever reason she doesn't dive into a subject. I suppose some folks like to float comfortably instead. Intellectuals don't float. We constantly seek refutation of our current conclusions. Now, I've only watched one of her videos (along with a bit of this one), so I can't place high confidence in my conclusion, but the odds of my learning anything new from her are low enough that I doubt I'll watch another

And of course women have nothing to do with the situation at all, right? Just disregard the agency of roughly half the worlds population and instead put everything on men. @@loki76 So continuing to disregard women's agency and impact on the world are we? It's hilarious you're saying _I'm_ just like feminists when one of the consistent behaviors of feminists is the complete refusal to view women as agents, what do you think patriarchy theory is? It's an assertion that only men have an effect on the world and women just exist in a void where they can only be acted upon. Equally it's hilarious that instead of trying to argue against my point you're attempting to shame me for not fitting your (rather small) mold of what masculinity is. That's what female feminists and women in general do to men who aren't doing what they want. For the record it's generally not women tearing things down, it's men desperate for approval doing it at the behest of women. So maybe if enough women stopped demanding everything be torn down and instead convinced men that they have value men would stop, how about that?
