You know what’s empowering? My grandmother raising 4 children in a cabin out in a village in Alaska with no outside access besides a plane that only came every couple week. No running water, to electricity, and figuring out how to feed her children on a missionaries salary, back in the ‘50s when missionaries actually did something. She suffered the loss of her second child who died of a fever at 6 months old because it was breakup season and they couldn’t get a plane in. She washed and dried clothes in the middle of the winter. She shopped at second hand stores after her and Grandpa moved into town. She is the definition of a strong woman. She never complained about her life. When I say, “That must have been hard” she just shrugs and says “It’s just what you did back then.” A strong woman is my other grandma who followed her husband to Alaska with a toddler and a baby, driving through Canada in a pickup truck with a camper. She left her parents and sisters back on the farm and moved to a place where she knew no one. She stayed married for 55 years to a man that was not easy to live with. These are strong women. I look up to them and hope I can do as good as they did in their lives. I take their advice and treasure it. I value my grandmothers advice more then any of the so called “influencers” posing half naked on the internet.

As a black woman, this has especially affected us in a bad way. When people think about black women that are successful, they think about female rappers that are showing 90%+ of their skin. What kind of example and values does it gives to little black girls? I have nothing against these women and how they dress is none of my business but mainstream media and big platforms like tiktok need to stop their glorification. If I ever were to have a daughter, I wouldn't restrict the way she dress to a certain extent but I would make sure to make her understand that oversexualisation isn't equal to feminity or freedom. I have taught various styles of dance at a local event venue, and I have always been completely shocked at the behavior of the female attendees at the dance parties. The music tends to start with tunes from the 50s and 60s which we have taught them to actually dance to, and things usually go fairly well. However, as soon as anything from the 70s or later comes on, any attempt at actual dancing usually comes to an end and the sexual motions begin. It's a pretty quick progression from there to music of the 80s and later, where many of the lyrics are blatantly objectifying and... I mean, have you HEARD Get Low by Lil Jon? Or even the Wobble? I like getting an eye full as much as the next guy, but there is no possible way I can enjoy watching those proceedings because part is being attractive is confidence, belief in your own value, and a bit of subtle artistry. If you can improv a body roll smoothly into a well executed West Coast Swing whip and give me a saucy smile as you stride closer for a tuck turn or a head roll with a hair fling, well my God that's one of the sexiest damn things ever... but standing out in the floor trying desperately to find new and unique ways to hump the air... well... my lizard brain is interested for a little while, it takes very little time for me to start questioning why you're spending so much time doing something that must be so boring. I look back on the last 20 years of my life (I'm nearing 40) and wish I'd had someone in my life who had at least attempted to explain to me why rushing into sex was a horrible, horrible idea. Not even from a religious/purity/ect standpoint, just from the fact that sex will always release bonding hormones and inevitably you're going to end up in terrible relationships with incompatible people because you end up feeling a bond far too quickly. To this day I still haven't had a truly happy relationship with someone who's values and ideals are compatible because sex is just expected within the first handful of dates and I allowed myself to believe the lie that if I didn't have sex with the man I was trying to date I'd never find anything long term. Currently partnered and trying to work through issues I never would have accepted if I knew about them before going through the sexual bonding process. All I can do now is promise myself I'm never going to fall into that trap again. Probably too little too late but it's all I have.

I fell into this trap too and thank God, I opened up my eyes before losing control over myself. I still feel disgusted with myself by having three casual sex partners and dressing inappropriately for a party once... I got into an argument with a friend of mine who posted something on Facebook to the effect of, "Instead of calling young girls bossy, we should teach them they have leadership skills". It froze me in my tracks because of how subversive the notion is. She has told me that male bosses tend to take a more relaxed approach to organizing the work of their employees (basically "Don't fix if it isn't broken" as they don't care what employees do for as long as the work is done and deadlines are met) while one of her female bosses after about a week or so after being promoted to her position decreed that all workplace computers must be disconnected from the internet, and if someone needs to connect, they need to contact her and state the reason for it as well as for how long they expect to be connected.

Same. We are separatist Christians so we homeschool and our kids do not have free reign access to internet. I’m basically raising my children as though it is the early 80s. They do not have cell phones and they also watch all the older cartoons none none of the New Age children’s shows which promote this type of garbage. The best thing we’ve done is basically gone back in time to raise our children and keep them away from other children to families who do not have similar values. Granted our children are learning to type they do know how to use a Google search etc. they are educated and they’re gonna be more than able to navigate technology. But their experience in navigating it so far has been very well controlled. I also strongly recommend teaching them traditions and values of their own culture through example and activities. So yes I am encouraging you whatever your heritage is to teach them a strong positive picture of it and how it should be. Ignore liberal leftist ideologies. Teach them some pride. If you don’t they will not have the self-confidence they need to be adults and take on the real world when that challenge does come.

Take time to raise your kids. Sacrifice what you need to sacrifice to be with them and be an example for them. Read with them play with them. Do not allow your kids to be raised by strangers of questionable state of mind eight hours a day everyday. School in this form is the most bullshit thing in this world. Also work with farm animals. Thanks to my dad I started working at local farm taking care of animals when I was twelve. Animals and hard work teach you everything you need to know and you don't even have time for other things really so no stupid friends to indoctrinate you into stupid shit. Also my dad gave me lots of books when I was younger. Being surrounded by mostly conservative society helps a lot too. I'm from Poland. When I was fourteen I found people like Roger Scruton and Douglas Murray later Jordan Peterson and Thomas Sowell on my own. Wish my dad knew English so that he could listen to them too. If you set an example for your kids and introduce them to this world already with personality and beliefs there is more chance for them to go through it and walk away unscathed.

There's no way to 100% shield a child from these things, but you can try. #1 Don't give anyone a smart phone if they are under 15 years old. They don't need one. If you feel they need a phone, get them one that doesn't let them download apps or one that is just for making phone calls. #2 Parent your child. Don't just pick them up from school and plop them down in front of the TV while you go about doing what you want. Letting TV parent your child is one of the biggest problems these days. Help them with homework (if that still exists) and then have them go outside to play for at least an hour. Play board games or do other activities WITH them. Instead of TV, have them read books.

One of the biggest questions I've always had is, why do we women need to show skin but men can roam around fully covered, and no one says anything, instead it's the norm for them to do so. That itself just says so much to me. I'm a 17 years old Muslim female, and people get weirded out by me dressing modestly, and I just don't understand, why? They tell me that I'm sexualising myself indirectly. I felt so weird, like these people will do anything to gaslight me and make me feel like I'm stupid and oppressed for dressing modestly. I always wondered, how is dressing in very revealing clothes NOT sexualising and objectifying. Instead it's seen as empowering. I just can't believe that I live in a world where dressing modestly is considered wrong. If anything, dressing modestly has done me so much good. Most people upon seeing me, respect me because they immediately think of me as a woman who is close to God, and number two, they view me as someone who's more than just a body. It does the complete opposite of whatever you just talked about in the video, yet I'm still made to feel bad about it. I also always say this: I know that seeing someone as just a body is not right in certain circumstances, but we also need to realize that we as humans usually see other people as objects. When you go out and look around, most people actually just appear as objects to you. You don't feel some very deep emotional connection to them or something unless you're close to someone, you know what I'm saying? So viewing strangers as just bodies or ‘objects’ is actually pretty much a natural thing, and what women who dress in very revealing clothes, example cardi b in wap, are doing is basically making themselves look even more like objects or just mere bodies. Then people get mad at others for viewing them that way I mean c'mon now. So this is something i am having trouble understand for a while now. Why were we taught a discipline before we were given the explanation? In many case of growing up, i have been told continue doing this, you will learn to to appreciate it later. And glad to say it's true 90% times. But the whole argument is that women do need to be empowered because they feel they lack power. Here's an analogy: Choosing a contraceptive, as a young bloke you get exactly the condom to "choose" from while women get so many methods that are 10 times safer. If you're in a relationship and aren't using condoms and she forgets to take the pill it's now your problem too. That can make a man feel powerless. This is akin to how lots of feminists feel towards their issues. Though most might not care much about the problems you face as a man, some of theirs are real and worth listening to, you might even get them to warm up to you and we could use some unity in the world right now tbh.

I think it's also destroying the way people relate to eachother. How can you meet a life partner when everything is about being sexy, not about connection. How can you have a sustainable group of friends when they're all making porn and your boyfriend or husband may be watching it, and they're telling you to get over it and that you're insecure? The only reason porn has been able to co-exist with monogamous relationships for so long is because of the illusion your partner or you aren't getting off to another "real" person. With the normalization of anyone making porn and soliciting it on their regular social media that "illusion" is gone. I think it's really destroying any emotional bonds we used to have through sex. My first kiss was in the woods with my childhood best friend. We liked eachother for who we were so we kissed eachother. It wasn't because we thought one another was sexy. I don't think people have that anymore.

I think you’re spot on. I’ve always been very uncomfortable with how normalized porn and getting off to others is in modern monogamous relationships (doesn’t feel very monogamous if you’re always thinking of others sexually imo) but it’s hitting a different level now. It feels intrusive. Porn is getting closer and closer to home in the form of onlyfans and everyone sexualizing themselves on social media. It’s easier to have porn be a “out of sight, out of mind” thing when it doesn’t feel real. Your SO isn’t gonna meet Riley Reid but if he’s jerking it to pics off your friend’s onlyfans account, it’s a lot more real. You are gonna have to interact with that person while knowing your SO is actively extremely sexually interested in them. It’s not jealous or controlling to be uncomfortable with that. Even if you’re okay with your SO going to strip clubs, for example, it’s a whole lot different if the strippers are strangers he won’t see again versus Sally and Judy from down the road or your BFFs, you know?

I watch porn. I have issues with my community right now, and given how little positive/healthy social interactions I had as a child, combined with how insecure I see other people I typically have contact with on a daily basis are...I just feel it's best to avoid a likely half-assed, illusory "relationship". Me and the other people willing to eye me right now have personal issues we need to work out. But I agree that it is unhealthy despite being my chosen stop-gap measure. Right now...the worlds population is in a pretty fucked state. Opportunities of every kind are being stripped from the middle class and the already poor. This leads to further and further entrenched insecurity, tribalism, hyper-sexuality, drug use, etc. I think the most mission critical step right now is to start building opportunities for people. That helps provide a sense of hope, alleviates debilitating depression/demotivation, helps people relax...and ideally begin to listen to reason. Mysogyny and other social issues are born from insecurity. We also need to revamp the education system to provide people with psychology training that their parents are potentially not equipped to teach them, while also teaching them to love learning. People don't understand their own motives or how to retool themselves, nor do they have the confidence to even begin trying. If we don't fix that...well...we may be screwed.

The most empowering things in my life was having the courage to escape a domestic violent relationship, holding down a good job, going back to college, becoming a mother, attaining a 4.0 GPA, developing a renewed spiritual mindset, valuing my education and nurturing my love for reading and learning. My most depraved and depressing time was when I was drinking every weekend, hook ups, obsessing and valuing my looks over my talents and aspirations, and doing this all in the name of “I’m a free woman, I’m empowered, I do what I want when I want, I don’t need a man and I won’t be hurt by one again!” The last two are true in a sense but the mindset I had that framed and fueled those beliefs were wrong.

The first issue of Ms was fine, about reaching your full potential. The second issue was about porn, lesbianism, sexual "liberation" and marxism.
