A few months ago, a Twitter account became popular for turning people into different ethnicities using AI technology. With the way these facial recognition filters are evolving so fast, we'll have some insane technology pretty soon where we can do our own DNA tests during breakfast. There seems to be a rising trend of being mixed or having mixed facial features. I've talked about the RCTA community on Tiktok, and people that get plastic surgery to look like K-pop idols or fit a certain beauty standard. Seems like the Internet’s Obsessed with Changing Races #edvasian

8:40 Actually, that just happened, just not with the CIA. A man was arrested based on some technology that predicted the person's appearance from security footage of a robbery. The people who did the crime were supposed to be charged with armed robbery, but this poor guy got charged instead. They didn't even clear anything up (like he was no where near the scene of the crime!) before putting him in jail where he was graped at knifepoint. He's suing Macy's (the robbery happened at their plaza at a sunglasses hut, I think) now for $10mil. I don' think that's enough. Poor man is permanently scarred, they should hurt and so should the sheriff's dept.

@@Franniiv3 um, no. Many places, police included, are using new technology. Sometimes that technology is wrong. For example people used to think polygraphs where 100% accurate. Turns out, they aren't, that is why they're considered inadmissible in court. Police do still use them though to aid in investigations. Finger prints used to be considered 100% unique to an individual, now there is debate surrounding that. This isn't about "wokism" this is about them utilizing new tech known to be inaccurate at times to help them identify a suspect and then not doing their own work because they failed to realize facial recognition technology is not 100% accurate. Can it be used to try to find suspects? Sure, but then they can do good old fashioned police work to confirm that the technology was accurate.

Being mixed race is not glamorous lol, there are struggles that people who are not wouldn't ever experience. For example I was exposed to a LOT more racist commentary, especially by one side as they judge me on my looks, but because I understood the language I became the go to person to complain about my other half. I have also had a colleague tell me how they regret having mixed race children because of the difficulty of acceptance from cultures and if they had a choice to redo they wouldn't, which was fun listening as a mixed race person. Some countries don't accept dual nationality, so the pressure I feel to be one or the other when I am both is immense and triggers identity crises at times. Sure visually there might be things others are jealous about, but that's one of the few "good" things about being mixed race. There are other good things of course, for example I am fluent in both languages which helps with landing a job, but I do wish people would care less about "race" and just be more accepting and mindful of others as individuals rather than looking on the surface level.

I do wonder if all this stupid race craze is just a continuation of identity crisis that we're all sorta experiencing due to the capitalism-on-steroids hellscape that we live in today. I know that my future kids will be mixed, too, but I'm going to do my best to give them the confidence and security to identify with all their races and nationalities. I absolutely hate it when people claim that I'm not what I am and I don't want my kids to go through the same identity crisis I go through at least once a month.

As Asian, just seeing this title, I know this probably has to do with RCTA Asians. I find it devastating that people would want to become Asian, nothing against Asians or any other race, but your race is something you’re born with. You can’t change it. You shouldn’t feel the need to hate yourself over it, either. You have to embrace the way you are because there’s nothing you can do about it. Oli London being a prime example of this. He went from British to “Korean”. Does anyone take him seriously? No! Most definitely not! But I guess this is something I would never understand.

"Being mixed race is trendy nowadays" feels so damning because growing up mixed was fucking awful. I wasn't raised with the cultural values and experiences that my cousins got, nor did peers of the same races accept me because I "wasn't enough." I didn't fit in with the attractive standards those races had because I was mixed. Now whatever the hell I am is some sort of "aesthetic" to wear, I guess.

So many celebrity women are generic looking from plastic surgery I have a hard time recognizing them. Beauty comes in all different forms, look at Farrah Fawcett's square jaw for example. No one would dream of telling her to change it. Now days they might, and it would ruin her face. Jennifer Grey got a nose job and it killed her career. It's fine to want to change what you don't like about yourself, but please be careful or you could lose what makes you unique. Who knows, next month your "flaw" might be the next beauty standard, like big butts. Small butts were the rage before.

The only reason different races excist is because humans have adapted to their surroundings. Wide nose and short nose bridge are meant to help you breath in warm clinates and big lips have more surface area so you can cool down. Narrow nose and long nose bridge are better for colder clinates, because the air has more time to get warm before 8t gets to your lungs. Thin lips have small surface area so you dont lose so much energy and wamth in cold air.

I don't think people understand how harmful it is to claim to 'change your race' like its not just culture its also life experiences of just being that race, for example Oli London got plastic surgery to 'look' Koren whilst still benefiting from the privileges of being white, same with Rachel Dozel, she full on claimed to be black when she wasn't and still benefited from privilege of coming from a white family and before people try and say white privilege isn't real it is because of racial bias in a work place, health care and basic interactions, you see it all the time whether its obvious or subtle, and a black or Asian person wont be able to do same by claiming to be a different race and benefit from those privileges, everyone loves and wants the culture or aesthetic of a different race but dont want to experience or acknowledge the hardships of being black, asian or latina etc. in a western society

Your logic does not make any sense. So Koreans apparently do not benefit but.. a white person who changes their race to look Korean would still benefit from being white? How? How does that work when at that they LOOK Korean and not white anymore?? Would you say the same if a white person changed their race to look black? Dark skin, afro hair, and all other traits? Would they still be fit from “being white”? Sorry but this does not give credit to anything that you are saying.

It’s a wild that the general consensus seems to have gone from being high-key racist and lowkey fetishizing other races. To being lowkey racist and highkey fetishzing. What I mean is fetishizing another race is more acceptable than it was a looong time ago when being racist was socially acceptable. Like being in interracial relationships or being mixed was taboo.

i’m an asian woman and when i was young, maybe about 9 or 10 years old, i wanted to be a blonde-haired, blue-eyed, white girl so badly. i even begged my parents to buy me a blonde wig and wore it everywhere except school. i was influenced by american movies and that was my idea of beauty back then. growing up made me thankful to be what and who i am, to appreciate my skin hair and eye colour. now there are white people wanting to “race swap” to asians. it’s just too funny.
