Yeah For those who do not know, when Shuffle feature was first introduced, customers complained that it didn't feel random enough. Sometimes you would hear a couple songs from the same album in a row, some songs would play more often than others and so on. So apple made some changes, so that feature would feel more random. By making it less random.

While i dont know much about bonsai themselves, after getting recommended a youtube video that explain it well i dont think its a bad thing/hobby at all. What most people thought as "hurting" the plant is common occurence in the wild. Storm, wind, animals, soil movement (if they live in sand-ish or muddy soil) break and twist the trees. As for the dwarf size, theres research that shows these bonsais basically grow smaller cells and also less cells so its actually just a form of adaptation and they function normally. The seeds or whatever the plant use to have next generation will grow to normal size if planted in bigger space (like in their usual habitat) so its not damaging their generation down the line. Overall i think its pretty neat hobby that do have more benefits than harm, if there is any harm at all

I don't know bonsai. But as a very long time arborist, I can say not to put ANYthing on a pruning cut. It's not like bandaging a wound of your own. The sole thing you can do is to make proper cuts in the right kinds of places. The tree will callus over the pruning wound itself. Otherwise, you will encourage decay or disease. Not "healing"!
@grobonsai
@grobonsai Жыл бұрын
I'm completely aware of arboriculture best practices. The key difference is you are dealing with landscape trees in the ground. Bonsai have different growth characteristics, and different aesthetic goals. We also use different materials as we can monitor daily, whereas a tree in the landscape cannot be checked daily. To that end, I have never seen (or heard anyone that has), a bonsai wound that received paste to the detriment of the wound or tree. I have (in bonsai) seen detrimental results of leaving the wound uncovered.

why do people pronounce bonsai "banzai"?
@grobonsai
@grobonsai 2 жыл бұрын
It’s because I have a different accent than you. Unfortunately my mispronunciation sounds like a word with a different meaning. No matter how hard I try, a ‘t’ sound appears between Bon and sai. However, if I were to say ‘bonsai banzai’ you would be able to hear the difference despite my accent/mispronunciation 😊 I promise it’s not out of ignorance (in my case anyway)

Humans are complex creatures that wants to make complex things simple and simple things complex. Wanting to make things perfect things PERFECT and imperfect things more imperfect. And commenting in subjects I don't have any idea about. Haha. May I just say that's one critical eye you got there.

You'd ideally have to spend a great deal of time & effort learning the forms & growth patterns of various tree species, before you'd ever want to pick up a tool - let alone, going near a living tree... While replicating the entirely natural forms of natural locations may be the goal of the classical, Japanese Bonsai artist, it's never interested me sufficiently to pick up the art. That said, were I skilled enough, I'd love to create living dioramas with sculpted stone buildings & bonsai Strangler (or Morton Bay) Fig trees, based off the abandoned, fallen, temples from locations in Thailand, Myanmar & Indonesia.

This is like doing surgery on someone to "fix" having smaller hands than normal. Like the small hand were normal and natural, fucking around with the plant to make it look perfect is not "natural" it's artificial. It's a fine hobby, but Def need to find better wording thank isn't so contradicting.

I love how deep and cringe comments on KZbin can get. Some dude making the tree talk and scream for being injured in the process of tree cervical adjustment.. another explaining that trees dont expect to be in a pot, thats why they dont know how tu survive hahaha... we are very weird as species. We teach monkeys to drive.. we pet bears and lions.. man what a wild worlda haha I love dwarf trees.. cos im very tall... its like "this is my dog (shows a Chihuahua) and those over there are my trees (little bonsais). In my house no one is allowed to be taller than me.

I think it's not that weird, I think it's supposed to immitate an old tree that had 100+ years of experience, a young tree of the same kind just doesn't look like it's older counterpart. It's basically like you're taking a little kid and turn it into an 80year old with arthritis. Ok, it is kinda weird...

The footbinding equivalent of tree art. I may be wrong but I found out that a 1000 years old bonsai is still just as big as the next overpriced potted plant in a bonsai hobbyist's collection... It's deliberately dwarfed by that whole family or whoever got to own it over that entire millenia.

So many uneducated in the comments. Bonsai is not torture. Plants literally do not have a nervous system, they cannot think or feel anything. Now, if you want to believe that plants are sentient in some whimsical, spiritual way, then go ahead. But just know science does not agree with you, and your personal beliefs do not count as an argument against something. Anyway, thanks to the creator of this video for sharing a part of your hobby/life, it is fascinating

The irony is when done right the tree looks like it's ancient and shows no scars ( unless intentional ) and very natural and harmonious . But in order for that to happen it was anything but natural. It's supposed to look unmolested by humans , but in reality it has been cut , trimmed , wired , twisted , chopped and hacked , allowed to heal etc.. Pretty much anything but natural
