I could listen to Annie Jacobsen all day. So glad she does her own narration on Audible. Great writer, a true non-fiction storyteller.

I picked up Annie’s Nuclear War in hardcover and Kindle and was halfway through when work travel brought me to Santa Fe and Los Alamos. Mind blowing, but also so edifying being able to to see the places she reviews in the earlier parts of the book in person. Thank you Annie for writing this book and to Jack for having this conversation

Jack, this book club is such an awesome idea. Thanks for doing this. Would you consider an interactive format for future books? That would be super fun. Like a live podcast format where we could ask questions etc

Loved this book even though “loved” is an interesting word to use. But well worth everyone’s time. Puts to death any romantic notions of the end of the world or a life after nuclear war. Read this book and watch the movie Threads. Horrifying that world leaders appear to be taking us in this direction. Another great interview Jack!

I purchased a book and it’s a really good read. This is the first time I heard or give credit to Trump about a nuclear scenario. Although she considered his rhetoric as inflammatory. It is what was needed at that time to facilitate a meeting between North Korea and United States. A face-to-face meeting that has never happened before and never has happened since. Easy Annie your political ideology is creeping through. By the way, I have all of Annie’s books. Thank you, Annie and Jack for this podcast.

Her other books look quite interesting, the Area 51 and phenomena in particular. Agreed I could do without the TDS, seems like she does quality writing though.

I'm enjoying the first episode of the Jack Carr book club. Her latest book describes the worst case scenario about nuclear weapons and Warfare is still a important issue with the Free World today. I'm might try to check it out.

Growing up I was not a big reader. Mostly biographies or autobiographies of people I looked up to. Slightly before the pandemic I had to get a grip on boredom. I then started reading books people I looked up to recommended. I love Jack Carr Book Club.

I've studied nuclear weapons and policy for many years (I'm just weird that way). I found this book absolutely fascinating and horrifying at the same time. It's funny that her bibliography is like an inventory list of my bookshelf.

Thank U for great interview. I really think of your work as something very interesting, valuable and cool at the same time. It really opens the head and creates more crystal clear image of nuclear disaster that absolutely needs to be avoided. Just the amazing jest scary begging of the book gives me feeling of a horror movie. Im sending positive energy and pray to God that not one nuke will ever be used. "Peace and beauty".

I truly enjoy Jack's enthusiasm for his podcast subject matter but wouldn't it be interesting to learn that nuclear weapons like this don't even exist? Jack may have inadvertantly gotten it right, this book is a novel.

TDS typically involves a frantic tone, doomsday predictions, and noxious adjectives. IMO calmly describing DJT's language as 'abberant' (which simply means not conforming to the norm) doesn't qualify under Trump Derangement Syndrome. In fact, you could argue nonconformity is DJT's biggest attribute. She doesn't feel that way, but atleast she offered her critique in a calm tone using moderate language about a specific issue. Btw, I don't think those in the throws of TDS, would close an interview with complimentary language about Gingrich and Reagan (she does). Judge for yourself at 13:37.
