People play Explorer's because of you James . V's are cool, but James is synonymous with the Explorer
@beatlemania8945Ай бұрын
Ironically, I wanted to get some kind of V at first because of Albert King, Judas Priest, and James Hetfield. Ultimately, I went with a rough-around-the-edges Epiphone Gothic Explorer (for a pretty good deal) because it was in a pawn shop close to me and modded it into a more Classic Rock-looking guitar.

Hetfield is still one of my favorite guitar players. Wish he'd play more lead than he does. He is a riff master but the few leads he does play are killer.

This was such a great lens into the friendship between Mercyful Fate and Metallica. So few videos from the RTL recording and these experiences shaped Metallica as down to earth musicians.

Jaymz and his band saved me growing up. Now at 55 I decided to start playing guitar. I have a white Gibson V and a Camo ESP Ltd Explorer. Thank you Mr. Hetfield.

Great video! James Hetfield is the soul reason I ever picked up a guitar. The best riff lord of all and I also love his leads. I make my own songs now and if it wasn't for seeing Metallica playing live in Binge and Purge, I would never have played guitar. What a brilliant man who carries himself so well. No arrogance and appreciates all of his mentors. James Hetfield is the GOAT!!!

Funny thing. I'm just working on a flying V project. I call it the silver surfer cause it's gonna be champagne colored with 3D glittering And classic vibrola bridge. Basically a silver sky copy but very lightly glittered.

I'm thinking this guy doesn't need to play an odd shaped guitar to fill seats. E.S.P. is the preferred brand of guitar by the band.

James Hetfield you are incredibly talented but don't stay so stubborn. take Dave Mustaines offer to work on a new album together. Dave with all his creativity knows you are the other piece that will polish his ideas. True fans will help spark the flames for the greatest hits yet to come to reach the masses around us.

@4:44- Lars wearing 98.5 KOME shirt, a rock station in San Jose, Ca. Funny, i don't think KOME ever played a Metallica song. That station didn't play anything "heavy" & definitely not anything "metal". It was a station that played 60's & 70's "hard" rock & adult contemporary. KOME played the same songs, by the same bands, off the same play list, until they died off in the late 90's. When heavy metal blew up in the early 80's, none of the bay area stations played metal. The only way to get on air heavy metal in the bay area was late night on college radio stations or mtv. Quite Riot got a little air play in the early 80's. Motley crue's home sweet home & only home sweet home, in the mid 80's. Scorpions in the late 80's. Judas Priest? Nope. Iron Maiden? Nope. Sabbath? Nope. There really never was a good radio station in the bay area. They all had the same format as KOME, they just played different songs from the same bands.

It's weird when you think back. But the first Metallica album I heard was Kill'em all. Got it at the local library and I hated it. A stream of incoherent noise. I was into Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. Kill'em all was not those at all. Later when you realize that Kill'em all was kinda a Dave Mustaine project. It's uptempo bluesy/boogie. Which is fine. But then the Cliff Burton effect kicked in on Ride and Metallica, in my world, became the gods. That continued on Master and to some extent on Justice. But then it became the Hetfield/Ulrich project and I sadly never became a fan of that. They were very obviously still 100% amazing and I don't give a F about the black album hatred. It was a very, very good album by any standards and maybe even amazing. Just not my thing. But that is okay. I discovered new bands that I liked. But to me Metallica did it for me. I actually can play kill' em all note for note now. The incoherent noise album :) I kinda don't think it's a great album at all. But it's fun to play along with and doesn't require very much. Still metal though. I also learned the Master album. Skipped the Ride album because I play from tabs and there is something off tuning wise on that album. It's not standard A and I gave up on that pretty quickly. This was before Transcribe and stuff like that. I used the A-B button to learn riffs back then. On the Mustaine thing. What I meant by that was the chromatic stuff. It's great for an example on Holy Wars. But he played that solo on every single album. Be it Metallica or Megadeth. Doesn't mean that he isn't the absolute riff meister. But those solos are annoyingly the same. Kirk replicated them just fine though so I guess that counts as a 'great'. Still though.. My King Diamond experience began with Abigail and Them. Then later came Mercyful Fate. So I didn't know about them until later and by then I was in the King Diamond camp. When I finally heard Melissa it instantly became my favorite "King Diamond" album. Like the 'Don't break the oath' too. But Melissa was magical to me.

I saw Metallica 3 times and it was great, but the last time a strange story happened, I always buy a ticket for the first row, it was the same last time, but we didn't know that there was another VIP row in front of the very center of the stage, on that day it was it's terribly hot, so they gave us water to drink and to cool down, you simply pour water on yourself, it helps but not for long because you're quickly dry again, 5 minutes before the concert starts, 5-6 young handsome models pass by us half a meter away , they were all very tall and when they passed us, a tall, very beautiful black girl turned around and walked back 6-7 meters and went straight towards me and gave me a ticket bracelet for that VIP zone, a little confused as to what I was saying to the friends I came with, no, I won't go, I'm staying with you and here we are in the first row, but all of them and others started cheering for me to go and the security guard said the same thing, come on, cross the fence, come and of course I jumped over and looked right in front, of course it was great as always
