Lady Hyegyeong of the Pungsan Hong Clan (1735-1816) was the wife of Crown Prince Sado, the second son of King Yeongjo, and the mother of the 22nd King of Joseon, King Jeongjo.
She was the Crown Princess of Joseon and later named Queen Heongyeong, and she was also the Korean Empire's posthumous empress.
Her family clan was from Pungsan and she was the descendant of Hong Juwon, Prince Consort Yeongan.
As Hong Juwon was husband to Princess Jeongmyeong, King Seonjo's daughter, her family already had close relations to the royal family.
Becoming the wife of Prince Sado through the three step selection process, young Lady Hyegyeong was doted upon in the palace.
Pulling along the polite and good natured princess in the palace was her de factor mother-in-law, Royal Consort Yeong, and her sister-in-laws, Princess Hwapyeong, Hwahyeop, and Hwawan.
However, her husband Prince Sado's continued conflicts with his father King Yeongjo, which started from a young age, made him go mad.
He ends up dying on his father's orders inside a wooden rice crate (Imu Incident).
Even through hardships, Lady Hyegyeong raised her son well into King Jeongjo. Although she couldn't be queen, she becomes the mother of a king.
Lady Hyegyeong ended up having 2 sons and 2 daughters. "Prince Uiso (died early) in 1750, King Jeongjo in 1752, Princess Cheongyeon in 1754, Princess Cheongseon in 1756"
