For rating this roaster 6.5-7/10, what roasters would be a 9-10/10 on the same scale?

Would be great to see an updated review with the Artisan software. Seems like that could address the SW UI complaints. Also interested to see what Kimhak thinks as a seasoned roaster.

Really interesting review. I’ve had one of these for the last few months and is my first attempt at roasting. Did take a few roasts before I could get it working and still learning which is mostly me, but it has been really great so far and had some amazing cups from it. Didn’t have some of the basic UI issues, I found it easy and I really like save and adding background curves to help iterate, but oh yes re the manuals - including how to clean well (had some very small beans which stuck in the drum spindles). Would add that having used a lot more it does need to be well preheated to get really consistent results

Any recommendations on how to pipe in exhaust if roasting indoors? Great review!
@tedbellWRV2 жыл бұрын
The heating element seitchnis not in the software as that eould likely require a relay switch (to handle the power that is switched). So they went to the cheaper and more expedient route (manual switch).

Nice info, and great that you brought in a professional roaster's perspective! As for good gas drum roasters that cost less than the Bullet, the Coromorant Roaster out of the UK has been a fantastic workhorse for our small café. We have both the Bullet and the Cormorant, but I end up preferring the Cormorant 90% of the time.

Seems like the only negative feedback is the UI/UX…. Seems like a harsh review if that’s the only negative feedback. Would love to see some engagement in the comments section to support your review.

I would like to check them out when I’m in Mesa. As far as a pure espresso shot from a coffee shop it’s hard to beat Press
They are my favorite place to get straight espresso. Small setup but all the baristas are super nice and downs to talk about what’s going on in the home espresso world

Was wondering if I should upgrade from my Hottop 2k+ to this, or the M10 or if I should just spring for the Ailio bullet that I really want. Would like to see how often they update this one first maybe.

Thinking the same, but M10 has overall better score and the allio is much pricier

Read the manual first. You have to clean the chaff from the corrector before start every batch. In depth look, It’s a small machine with excellent interrelation designing of perforated drum, chaff corrector, heating source all in harmonious function. Make it a high performance small machine with a full function of commercial machine on the market. This is the best small coffee roasting machine on the market that provides a clarity taste note too. IMHO

What's your take on Drum vs Fluid-bed based roasters?
@BensCoffeeRants Жыл бұрын
People say drum roasters give more of a traditional roasty coffee, where fluid bed/ air roasters enhance the fruity and cleanness of coffee, but I'm not 100% sure if that's really true. I think maybe it's down to the drum roasters ability to remove chaff and how much airflow it gets through the coffee which varies by different models I believe. I think Air Roasters/ fluid bed CAN change the heat level faster than a larger heavy drum roaster too, so you might be able to do different profiles that you can't do on some drum roasters. Curious what more experienced roasters might say about this though!

That's an interesting roaster. That chaff collector is scary. What sort of watt does it pull? Always what sort of roast times did you all get?Any airflow control?
@kaleidosnipercoffeeroaster2 жыл бұрын
Hi, 800 watt for M2 (50-400g). Exhaust , Fire , Drum speed can be controlled. Manual roast or load in the roastng curve do auto roast.

On the final roast the M2 was able to produce quite a tasty cup. Roast was nicely developed and I've been drinking it these past few days. M2 roasts also don't require much degassing and can be had a day after!

for the life of me I can't understand the appeal of these very expensive drum roasters when I doubt you could get a noticeably different result from a $209 Fresh Roast SR-540 which takes half the time and uses far less power because it's not wasting most of it to heat a huge thermal mass. the levers, doors, and graphs are cool, but just playing with a fidget toy while you fluid bed roast will accomplish the same thing for far less money.

I have fresh roast sr800 it's ok nothing more. If you like fruity,light coffee it doesn't work. It's only work for classic medium to dark coffee
@mexicanhalloween2 жыл бұрын
@@KhalidAl-Shammari My sr500 with extension tube has worked just fine for light roasts for years now. I have purchased several high end coffees from Onyx coffee labs to compare and I'm not missing out on anything. I use 160g, put it on max fan and low heat until it reaches ~200 degrees C in ~5 minutes on my candy thermometer, I then switch it to high heat for ~2 more minutes or until I hear first crack (~218C), then switch it to cooling cycle. I rarely do a dark roast, but it's only another minute or so to reach second crack Edit: This is a good guide for the SR800: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYKchKCHh7l-orM
