As far as welterweight breakdowns do, i know you have covington and gamebred on your list. I like to see the systems of chiesa, chimaev, and luque.

Chimaev is a bit tough because he only has 3 ufc fights and they were all really short so it’s hard to break him down till he gets a few more fights in

Great breakdown as always. No respect for Usman. Yeah he hasn’t been caught yet but I’d bet every dollar to my name he’s on the juice, not to mention the cheating against convington ... I feel like if anyone but Colby was calling Usman out for that stuff they’d really behind him. That being said doesn’t change the fact you broke him down great. Good stuff. Last night I was hitting the heavy bag and my Gf came down to do laundry and she said “what’s checking a kick? And why did that break Conor’s leg?” Lmao I was like you know technically I guess it just means blocking a strike, but really i always think of checking as negating the offense of your opponent and reflecting damage back on them. Like a parry or a shoulder roll, or shelling up is all blocking, but checking a kick inflicts damage as well, a check hook isn’t really a block but the idea of making your opponent pay is the same.... any thoughts haha

That's an interesting concept. Checking does seem to always imply a sort of countering effect to it.

@@DevilDogMartialArts- yeah. Never really thought it out, kind of implicit. When she asked me I was like you know I’m not sure if there’s an actual definition.

@@thanevakarian9762 So idk if check is universal in terminology. A leg check is a hard block with counter damage, but a check hook is just a pivoting hook, and a check hand in kali is just posting on the hand after blocking to sort of control their movement, similar to trapping.
