Debbie and Gene were the best dancers in the show. They were amazing. I loved Danny. He was my first crush 😍. I love Carlo. He is my platonic love since the '80s. Danny, Doris Bruno and Leroy were my favorite characters. I LOVE FAME ❤️❤️❤️

We all need rolemodels to follow and mentors to learn from in life. They teach us how to be creative and acheive our own goals in our own way. I learned how to love being in front of people and not be afraid to speak. Thankyou for your inspiration to explore my own talents.

Gene Anthony Ray was amazing. Shame he couldn’t beat his demons. Hope he is at peace now. Move over Debbie, give someone else a go.

He passed away from Neumonia

He had a stroke and was HIV. He was put into a medical coma as he had a massive swelling in the brain. Not just the pneumonia which was because his immune system could fight because of HIV. Which he got when he shared a needle when he was doing heroin. He couldn't cope with the fame and family troubles. I still miss him more than I can say. 😢

This should have been called the Debbie Allan show with the kids from fame. She has a takeover spirit.
@PaulTaylor1 Жыл бұрын
I know what you mean, and I remember we felt that way a bit at the time. But to be fair to her, she really powered the whole Fame thing so well with her huge energy and enthusiasm, it's hard to be too critical. She obviously loved every minute of it! 🙂
@Rob-em-Cristo Жыл бұрын
@@PaulTaylor1 I really agree with you. It seems like she put her best on the show. Ir was meant to be like that. I guess they all “learned by doing” and the kids gave all their best. Debbie said in an interview she had no days off that time, she put her life on Fame. I’m sure they had great fun back then.

Gosh, Lori Singer definitely couldn't.
@princessmissy50 Жыл бұрын
Lori Singer, back then, would be the first to admit she was no singer or dancer. She was hired for her shy personality and ability to play the cello, in fitting with her "Fame" character.
@EastSide-qc5oy Жыл бұрын
@@princessmissy50 Yeah they all were cast for specific talent strengths and the shows were written and staged to highlight those and make other relatively passable talents occur in the background or infrequently. Erica Gimpel was hired mostly for her strong acting abilities (her focus at the actual school was drama), though she did also have a really good and interesting singing voice. She certainly could “move” as a performer but she wasnt really a dancer per se, so her dancing as Coco was generally featured strategically to not highlight it, even though Coco as a character was meant to be one of the strongest dancers in the school. Julie wasn’t supposed to be a singer and so on the show as I recall, only rarely sang by herself.

Debbie Allen and Eric’s Gambol are the only ones who could sing
@EastSide-qc5oy Жыл бұрын
@@pennyboulton9676 you mean Erica Gimpel? She definitely could and still can sing. Don’t overlook Valerie Landsburg. I had forgotten how strong her voice was until I went back and watched some old and newer videos.

Had they turned Lori Singers mic off during Life is a Celebration?

It was a good concert but it shouldn't have been called the kids from fame it should he called debbie Allen's ahow
@EastSide-qc5oy Жыл бұрын
I can’t remember, did Valerie Landsburg not participate in this concert? I’m only a few minutes in so maybe the answer is further ahead. Because if she did participate, then I don’t get why Debbie Allen led Hi Fidelity. Debbie’s a great talent, and she does have front-woman energy, but it was originally Valerie’s (and Lee’s) song, and frankly Valerie had a much better voice than Debbie.
@kidsfromfamemedia7917 Жыл бұрын
These concerts took place during the shows Christmas vacation in 1982. Valerie decided not to come to the U.K. and wanted to spend the Holiday's with her partner's family. As Hi Fidelity had been such a big U.K. hit it needed to be included in the shows.
