i cried to this song too. unbelievably beautiful "and the decades disappear, like sinking ships we persevere, God gives us hope.. but we still fear what we don't know, your mind is poisoned"

My first girlfriend got me this cd as a gift because she knew it was my favorite band. This was her favorite song. I love that she opened the CD before she gave it to me. I miss her.

The day and age album came out when I was 9 years old, and this was one of my favorite tracks off of the whole album, hell even my favorite killers song-then again the whole album is amazing. I was far too young to understand the lyrics, but they were poetically beautiful. And then when I was around 14 or 15, I looked up the meaning behind the lyrics-that the young couple who meet and fall in love and age together are actually Brandon’s parents and that last verse is him begging his mom not to leave him, that everyone needs her, which makes the lyrics all the more relatable, but even then the interpretation of the lyrics can be interpreted in many different ways. And the mind is poison in this case is Brandon’s mom’s brain cancer-but it can also be interpreted as Alzeheimer’s or dementia in other cases. This song is amazing live, by the way.

I think the mind is poison goes with the sentence before. We still fear what, we don't know, the mind is poison. Fear of death, fear of losing people, fear of everything, it's all in the mind.

Went on a 5 day move as a kid and had limited songs on my moms I-tunes, I listened to this on repeat for who knows how long and it’s really does flick a switch in my brain lmao, even besides the weird nostalgia, and his is an awesome song and my music taste now is superb. Oui oui lol

This song tells the story of how Flowers' mother and father met when they were both aged 15 and living on the same trailer park." Given that his mother has cancer, the lyrics make pretty much sense. Now cinderella don't you go to sleep Its such a bitter form of refuge Ahh don't you know the kingdoms under siege And everybody needs you

@0Megaman0 Lately every time this song comes up in my play list and he gets to the lyrics "out here the good girls die..." I get the urge to cry, like that feeling in your stomach before the tears where someone's grabbed a vital organ and just pulled downwards. I believe he wrote this song for his mother who died from cancer, so I think that's why the song gets to me, hearing the lyrics and thinking of a son mourning his mother and just wanting her back "Now Cinderella don't you go to sleep".
Now that my grandma passed away this song hits way harder than before.

Definitely. New stuff is waaaay more mature (musically), and they realize the world is more than just women, unlike in hot fuss.
@flanplan59033 жыл бұрын
Well, hot fuss did deal with a guy murdering his girlfriend and getting interrogated for it, a man dealing from the fallout of an affair, and a critique on the shallow people of the upper class, so I wouldn’t exactly say that their old stuff wasn’t as mature as their new stuff.
@99sd376314 жыл бұрын
@Flash239 I dunno... Day and Age has nothing on Hot Fuss. But that's just my opinion. I guess I'm a Hot Fuss Era Killers fan, like this girl, and like most people I know too. Still good songs, just not the same awesomeness as the old stuff.
