He faces forward, Trading in his blindness for the glow of love, And time is raging, may it rage in vain, And you always had it, but you never knew, So boots and saddles, get on your feet, There's no surrender, 'cause there's no retreat, The bells are sobbing, in this monster land, We are the descendants of giant men.

Every single lyric to this song is so relatable at this stage in my life. I am in the middle of trying to leave a mentally and emotionally ab*sive relationship which has become physical on 1 occasion. I am having to do it very strategically though. What I’m doing takes strength and courage. Right now I’m at a very painful stage in the process where everything is almost set up for me to leave but I still have to continue to act normal around him. This song is so powerful. It reminds me that there is a goal, there is freedom on the other side of this. I am battle born and I always have been. No one can ever take that away from me. Now I have to power through the rest of this. My ex husband has been an incredible support system for me mentally and emotionally. He has been talking me through this every step of the way. I don’t think he realizes how much he has helped me while I have felt alone, dealing with this awful boyfriend. This song is everything to me right now. When I first heard it I thought it was catchy and fun to listen to. Now, after going through everything I’ve gone through, it actually has significant meaning.

This is such a profound yet underrated song both in sound and meaning. It really strikes me to ponder all the questions of mortality of this short life on Earth in these bodies we have been blessed to inhabit for this "testing time".."What are you made of.. flesh and bone" but we are so much more than that. "A dark horse running in a fantasy " I love that line and description although I'd call myself more of a caged bird "flying in fantasy" as we all have these "dreams" and sometimes the fantasy of our imaginations is what "gets us through" and sometimes can even become somewhat of our reality or a new invention or creation.. fantasy is inherent of creators..."anointed by the blood..cut from a cloth of a flag that bears the name 'battle born'" I feel that pain too, I believe those that truly are "Anointed" and true followers of Christ -we usually have quite a bit of opposition through life.. Thus being "Battle Born"-not only a spiritual battle but often trials of life in general-we are tested , tried and refined .So "White knuckled in the moments that left me behind " It just makes me think of all the times I've had to defend myself from those people that were meant to care for and protect and love me the most. Being a good person doesn't always mean you are surrounded by the best people and for myself it even meant having to defend myself from a spouse.. The darkest moments , the confusing times where suddenly what should have been love was terror and fear and me hiding alone in tears and desperation - those were the times where I could not rely on "flesh and bone" Those dark times I cried and prayed unto the Lord for comfort and miracles and it took some time to "get out" of those harmful situations that should have been loving.. but in my aloneness and alienation and isolation from others in thinking I was just "protecting " a spouse.. I was just enabling him to be abusive to me and immoral and allowing him to use idle threats to harm himself or me so I'd stay and "put up with it"-that was terrifying but it allowed me to "rely upon God" and not man. I became very close to the Lord through the dark times and I couldn't have developed this relationship with the Lord without the darkness first..after the "staggering blow" then finally .."Defenses are down" "Stakes are high..scouting the crowd for a face of compassion " I love that! After being exposed to people that were actually incapable of empathy-who couldn't and wouldn't take accountability for pain they caused and projected the guilt back onto me.. I can't understand people like that nor do I want to try..They are addicts to the "high" of the Power or control of others and the "thrill" of getting away with whatever they can..but after you leave that.. when the defense is down and you find there is actually a heart or soul of compassion out there.. those are the most treasured moments and those compassionate souls are far and few between in "these last days" so hold onto the ones you find.. they are treasures."And what are you made of? We're running out of time ". That reminds me that time is so precious & not to delay important things."Trading In his world of blindness for a world of love" that is just exquisite and beautiful to open your heart to love after battles and trials. For myself the love runs deeper because of the trials..💙"we are the descendants of giants " We are children of God! Remember that ! I personally am proud of my ancestors as well .. yea Brigham Young has thousands of us "descendants " running around but I'm proud the west was settled because of religious persecution .. It's interesting how most people don't know that but I'm still here in the Wild West of Las Vegas proud to say the Mormons were some of the initial settlers here and Vegas is a "small town " for those of us who have lasted more than a few years here but "Mormon Vegas" is even a smaller town and there's a good strong group of us here.. same with the Jews.. there's such a strong group of covenant people in this town , people who have faced such opposition because of their faith and we have all settled here in "Sin City".. quite interesting if you think about it! Anyway, "You always had it.. but you never knew..there's no surrender because there's no retreat" It reminds me of a test of faith that if you have it in you there's no turning back and the love of Christ brings a whole new world of love compassion and empathy and that is so much more easier to "win" your battles with that ..with Him on your side 😇💕🙏🏼Thank you for your talents and your example of empathy and compassion! Keep it up! God bless you with love, energy , courage, motivation , inspiration and insight!!🌌🎶

That genius mind has reached perfection showing the powerful of the classic 80's on today's rock. That part, 2.40 is a mix of Roy Orbison's Pretty woman and, then, that shout... is the same Cock Robin's shout in "when your heart is weak". I'm so proud of being a fan of The Killers, because Brandon's talent is fucking infinite. We're the perfect victims.

ve gone through life white-knuckled In the moments that left me behind Refusing to heed the yield I penetrate the force fields in the blind They say I'll adjust God knows I must But I'm not sure how This natural selection picked me out to be A dark horse running in a fantasy Flesh and bone And I'm running out of time Flesh and bone Somewhere outside that finish line I square up and break through the chains And I hit like a raging bull Anointed by the blood, I take the reins Cut from the cloth of the flag That bears the name "Battle born" They'll call me the contender They'll listen for the bell With my face flashing crimson from the fires of hell What are you afraid of? And what are you made of? Flesh and bone And I'm running out of time Flesh and bone And what are you made of? Flesh and bone Man I'm turning on a dime Flesh and bone This could decay Like the valley below Defenses are down Stakes are high (Let's get out the crowd for a face of compassion) The fairytale end (To face out the journey to force us no more) The staggering blow (You'll find the truth in the roots of desire) You lead with your chin (Sitting in your corner, just a compass and the sun) This could be real Simple And what are you made of? Flesh and bone And I'm running out of time Flesh and bone What are you made of? He places forward Trading his blindness For the glow of love And time is raging Need to raise your game And ya always had it But you never knew So boots and saddles Get on your feet There's no surrender Because there's no retreat The bells absolve him And there's more starting and We are the descendants Of giant men
