No Wipe top coats are my favourite, don't have to fuss around with removing the tacky layer. I have found that some if them "shrink" up over certain brands of coloured gels. My current favourite is the Colour Club One and Done. It's quite thick and dried super shiny so is great for finishing a manicure (especially over nail art). The other one I really enjoy is Gel II No Wipe top coat. It's much thinner and great for chrome nails.

How do I get my gel polish to not look dull after a week? I use Model ones I use dnd no wipe. I notice when my sister gets her gel manicure her nails are still glossy after two week grow out. I do my own nails for 3 years now and I want to improve even more however I cannot keep buying top coat. Please help!! What Ami I not doing or using

I have a question you might be able to answer. No one else has been able to so far, it's a true puzzle. Assuming that application error is not the problem, what would cause gel polish to go soft on the natural nail after a couple days but wear just fine and hard over another type of enhancement? If I wear gel polish (multiple brands have done this) it will cure fine originally, but then go soft, like I can dent it, after a day or two and then it will start to peel away from the free edge. Until I went to nail school, I didn't realize that gel polish was supposed to be a hard coating. It cures and wears just fine if I put it over builder in a bottle, acrylic, Japanese soft gel or hard gel.

Well there are two different kinds of gel hard gel which does not soak in acetone and soft gel also known as soak off gel. If you are curing your gel polish in the light and after a couple days it starts getting bubbly and squishy it’s because it did not cure properly it could be because the coat is being applied to thick order light is not strong enough and after a couple of days or almost immediately after exposing your hands to water especially if it’s hot you’ll notice a little bump start appearing in the gel. And lights do go bad so if you I’ve been using the same one for a while it might be time to replace it I hope that answers your question if not please let me know

@@TheNaturalNailGuru It's not the curing. Like I said, it's not application error. It's not only when I apply it myself, it's when I get it done by others in salons. ANYTIME I wear gel polish as my only enhancement, it goes soft, but only gel polish. Other hard and soft gels are fine on my nails. I know what under curing looks like and this isn't it.

@@thebitchycrafter339 Tbh if application isn’t a problem (especially prep) I’d think it’s bc oil is seeping into ur nail plates causing the gel to bubble/soften up under? I’m assuming so because if the gel is softening and ur able to “dent” the gel and eventually even peel it off it is because it’s not properly adhered onto the nail plate anymore somehow.

@@jessicanguyen1623 correct!!! when applying gel polish it’s just like any other enhancement when it comes to prep… gotta dehydrate and remove any oil or shine… if you made sure to prep well you need to make sure you’re not using a soft gel… also use an oil free soap as much as possible. a lot of times people don’t know that your soap may contain oils/substances that can interfere with the wear of your gel enhancement. (gel polish, hybrid gel, etc) as i’m told it can also happen with acrylic

Curious if when using a gelish brand color polish do you have to wipe off the sticky layer if you are changing to a beetles no whip glossy top coat before applying the topcoat of the beetles brand? Hopefully my wording makes sense. 🙃

Totally made sense! L O L regardless of the brand you really should never “have” to wipe the tacky layer off. The only time I ever really do that is because I’m doing arts and want to bury defined lines. However, if you noticed that you’re getting a little separation when applying the topcoat, you can either saturate it a little bit more with the topcoat so that it does not separate or yes, you can wipe off the tacky layer and apply the topcoat. Now I hope my wording made sense lol.

Funny when I use the beetles base, it’s sticky. Is the base supposed to be sticky? But after color and top coat, it’s a wonderful hard gloss finish.

I'm not a nail tech, and this is just my experience but I use regular nail polish then use a tacky top coat after 24 hours. Perfect manicure and good for 7 days. However if I use a non tacky topcoat I get cracking in about a day. Same thing with dip powders. I think it's because the nail polish/resin has not dried or cured. Still, trying to figure this one out as I have two bottles of non tacky topcoat that I want to use up. 😩

@@MadTracker 01:53, the regular, top coat is more fluid, less viscous than the non-wipe variant. So if you desire a consistency that you can apply thinly and build gradually, then a wipe finished top coat would be the better choice. If you favour a top coat that can easily fill gaps and offers you the convenience of not having to finish wipe, the non-wipe top coat option is perhaps the better choice.

Hi! To do chrome powders I have only had success using a topcoat meant for chrome powders. It was always super tricky when I use any other kind of topcoat no matter what I did with the curing time but it really should be a no white topcoat and you do not want to over curate if anything under curate by a few seconds so if it’s supposed to be 3second here do it for like 20 or 25 seconds then take it out and rub the chrome powder over it. Right now I use OPI chrome Effects And for me the only one that can consistently give me the chrome affect I’m looking for

I came to this video because I have an issue with a glossy topcoat. It is specially with one gel colour I use, that it seems the color polish ends up really glossy already. What happens is, I apply the top coat over the last cured colour layer, and eventually it peels off, like if it had no adhesive to the previous coat. It was cured a few moments earlier, I didn't touch it, I never greased it, I hadn't removed the sticky layer off the color coat. I cannot find what I did wrong. The only thing that I can think of is it might have been "too cured" like so dry it wouldnt have anything to cling from. Do you know?

Hi! Well even removing the sticky layer of the color coat you really should not have an issue with adhesion the only thing I would recommend is making sure that you are polishing all the way to the tip of the nail. I do a lot of nail art and it requires me to wipe the sticky part of the gel all the time so I’m constantly applying the topcoat over a totally dry surface even when I use chrome powders I apply the topcoat over that surface and it’s completely dry. The only thing I can think is that it’s not getting polished all the way to the tip and sealing it 🤔 definitely watch my video on polishing to perfection so you can see my process and maybe you see some thing that can help. I’ll definitely be revisiting this soon that video was done quite some months ago.

It could be something do to with the curing, some polishes have a tiny because of the UV in the curing. Something I’m just learning about now I don’t know too much but I have found out that a blue or yellow tint can appear (especially with whites and pinks) due to the tv in the top coat and the type of light that’s curing it. I’ll post something when I fully understand the issue and how to avoid. Make sure to follow on my IG I’ll prob post on there .

I remember getting gel nails and being able to soak of with cotton and acetone covered with foil, but it doesn’t seem to work with no wipe gel?? Or am I wrong? how can I remove no wipe gel at home? I don’t want to go to the salon because all they do is drill it off and thin out my nails so much. Please help?

You will most likely need to file some of the polish off to allow the acetone to penetrate the polish.

No there is definitely no situation where a wipe off topcoat would be ideal. The only time I would say a wipe off Topcoat is worth it is because it is extraordinarily durable shiny long lasting stain resistant pretty much hits all the marks except that it’s not a no wipe 😉

There really is no specific advantage to a wipe off top coat. Gel products always had the inhibition layer and a no wipe topcoat is just an evolution of the product. At the end of the day what has the advantage in my personal opinion is whatever has a longer lasting shine more durable and flexible and that has nothing to do with whether or not it is a wipe off and everything to do with the quality of the product.

There aren’t really any specific benefits over the no wipe topcoat it was just the original topcoat for gel and they advanced it and made it Little more convenient with one less step. The advantage would really come in the comparison of how shiny it is whether or not it cracks or scratches easy if it maintains the shine throughout the manicure and if it’s a good durable long lasting topcoat, those specifics are really dependent on the brand not necessarily - no wipe vs wipe off topcoat. every brand varies And sometimes you will find a wipe off topcoat that just performs better than a no wipe topcoat and vice versa.

The only benefit would be is if the regular wipe off topcoat is more durable flexible and a longer lasting shine. A no wipe topcoat is just an evolution of gel and it does have its benefits, one less step in the manicure process because you don’t have to wipe it a thicker consistency so really good for encapsulating or using raw glitter etc.

You definitely want to make sure you are wiping it off with alcohol 70% or higher. Or a gel cleanser. If you are using acetone it will definitely dull the shine. You also want to make sure that you were not using the same part of the white to clean all of the nails because you will already have gel residue buildup on the pad as you are wiping it on the other nails so try to move the pad around to use different parts of it or grab a new pad. Once all the sticky residue is off I sometimes buff my nails on my shirt or something soft to bring the shine back to its best

Hi thanks for your comment! In reality there really isn’t a benefit to a regular topcoat that you need to wipe off. There’s nothing additional that you could do with it there is no added benefit to the inhibition layer it’s just a process of the gel curing. The only other benefits between topcoats in general are if it is stain resistant and how shiny the topcoat is not just on day one but after a couple of weeks of wear but that really isn’t specific to a wipe off or a no wipe topcoat those attributes would really be dependent on the brand of topcoat that you’re using.
