I AM, I feel, is like an older Alan Walker song, especially with how the pre-chorus and chorus develops with almost a sentimental melody. My goodness I love it. Kitsch feels iconic. It feels like IVE's version of HYLT or Next Level, with the exuberance and confidence I got from them. Overall, it's an incredible album.

You know, I wasn’t super feeling I Am as the title track until this reaction when I started paying attention to the lyrics. The lyrics are hopeful while also feeling nostalgic, and I think the lyrics are the centerpiece of this song more than the composition. Kim Eana was the lyricist and that explains SO much. I think Liz’s line “strange view of somewhere I want to stay” is translated a little off but it’s a direct continuation of the previous lines. “You are someone’s dream come true, a deja vu of the most perfect day you can think of. I see an unfamiliar view of a place I want to go.” So she sees in her head a deja vu of a place she has dreamed of, and it’s a strange unfamiliar view bc she hasn’t actually gotten there yet. Genius

Not only does this song sound like a love letter to some of the best sounds from the 2nd gen of KPOP, at least with the girl groups, it just feels so empowering, like they're not only trying to encourage themselves, but also their fans as well. I honestly think 'I AM' is them looking to their future. They are still a newer group, within their first year, and this song is them once dreaming about them things they'd accomplish as a group, and them now living it our being On Their Way to it. [kitsch] because pd mentioned it in the reaction: kitsch might sound a bit more aggressive and fast forward because its german. maybe thats also the reason a lot of people are unfamiliar with this term; it was simply included in the english language because theres no good translation for it in english. kitsch does not always mean poorly done art (no matter what form of art); its a whole vibe youre getting once you laid your eyes on the person or the object you refer to as "kitsch". you call tons of decorative figures in your grandmas home kitsch, but also many details on someones outfit or make up, when they use a lot of adjectives to describe something, the list goes on. as soon as its not straight forward anymore, a bit unneccessary if you will - but for the person who owns the stuff or the kitschy vibe it means a lot. the majority of stuff germans call kitsch can be already old or outdated (90s, 80s etc.), because its often a thing a certain generation has or does which makes no sense to the mostly younger generations. the lyrics says "ninteens kitsch" - which is odd compared to what i just tried to describe; and thats why it is so perfect. they used this lyrics to refer to them "setting new standards" by the way they do music, they do dances etc., because they know that there are people that dislike the stuff they do because they do it a certain way. their "kitsch" is their career, their music style, their singing style, their oufits, looks, the whole vibe ive gives off. for them its perfect, almost essential to them - but for haters or people who just dont get it its art that is less useful, less practical or less cohesive and important as the art/music they prefer. for a german it does make way more sense and i hope that without that knowledge of the meaning behind kitsch, everyone else still can get it - and i hope that this comment helped understanding it a bit more :) ps: the sound at the very beginning sounds so much like a cuckoo clock which is also such a typical german kitschy thing, i dunno if thats intentional but it just makes it a bit more perfect for me ^^

I love how with this comeback you have on one side people saying how Kitsch is IVE’s best song ever and fighting everyone to hold their controversial opinion and on the other side people being relived that the main title is I AM and that IVE is continuing their streak of perfectly created title tracks. LMAO It’s such a weird but fun atmosphere. Also, I love how so many non dives became fans of the group because of one of these 2 songs. I feel like IVE hit the jackpot because they won either way, they got everybody. I think the MV does such a good job of showcasing this dream that the lyrics talk about. They talk about being someone’s “dream come true” and then immediately talk about how in the future they’ll be “far away” in “somewhere they want to stay” and they definitely showcase that by cutting between multiple shots of each member. I love how this song is both uplifting to the listener but also talks about IVE’s journey too! Also, so nice to see you appreciating Wonyoung😭 it feels like a lot of reactors just brush her aside as something expected since we all know what she’s capable of.

The word "Kitsch" is German. They definitely included the Kitsch elements in the song and mv. The recorder in the beginning is most likely to be the noise of a kukusclock. Like these old big clocks with a bird coming out every hour. The set with Wonyoungs face, the signs in the background, the lasers, the flowers, the chunky boods, sunglasses and college jackets are all some type of kitsch.

Kitsch mv is very reminiscent of the MVs of late 90s and early 2000s. It was all about runway style walks across the camera, fabulous outfits, and hard stares into the camera. Yujin’s timbre is beautiful. She was highly underused in IZone so I love IVE. She gets the lines she deserves. Her voice always stands out. I think she’ll come out as one of the greatest vocalists of the 4th generation.

I AM is a 12/10 comeback🔥 All the tracks on IVE's 1st Album were really well produced and 'Blue Blood' and 'Hypnosis' were standouts for me🌟 And also for the lyrics... the LYRICS! While there are so many songs with nonsense lyrics or only concept-centric lyrics or overly ambiguous lyrics where none of it makes sense... AHH i’m so excited theyre reacting to this! The fact that this video is an hour long makes me even more excited. I know Kitsch had a lot of negative reviews but I loved it ALOT. The drop didn’t take very long for me to get used to and it grew on me very quickly…It’s kinda funny how the chorus was the part everybody was excited for when the teaser dropped and now it’s people’s least favorite part 😔😪 Regardless I definitely love Kitsch from start to finish. You listen to Kitsch, and I thought it was great, very different than what I'm used to from IVE, but it's so catchy, especially that pre-chorus. But then you listen to I AM, and wow that song is on another level, where it feels like I should be listening to this song in Las Vegas at a festival with the lights shining everywhere, and just the energy it brings. That song is probably their best title track for me personally, and it's their most grandiose song I'd say.

Kitsch is a positive word nowadays amongst young generations, it basically means having your own style and not just following trends like sheep - but yes it does also mean that the style is usually quite 'out there' and unique, and it may include throwbacks to retro styles or things people generally find garish & a bit much 💖 The lyrics and the odd drop in the chorus reflect this, as well as the banner in the video that say 'You're so weird, don't change' 🥰 It's an homage to people in a lane of their own, unbothered about what others are doing

I think what always work and what starship sees is the golden trio of Liz Wony Yujin vocal they compliment each other perfectly. While Rei, Gaeul, and Leeseo completes IVE with each of their specialty and its just ended up as the perfect group that can do ANY genre and you wouldn't bat an eye, you can even see it in their full album.

IVE was already my new favorite girl group but I think this comeback is on a different level that I haven't seen even from the biggest groups. This is in my humble opinion the greatest comeback of all time from any group, the level of detail is just above and beyond and beyonder like you said, it's expensive not just in a way that exudes richness but it also exudes self love and confidence in a pure way, some people will see it as narcissism which is what the concept is talking about, saying this isn't a bad thing, this is pure and unapologetic self love and the culmination of IVE's hard work to promote themselves as a new group in an industry that is already over saturated, highly competitive and has many great giants established. But IVE came and took their spot by storm with self belief and self love, and going all out regardless of the nay sayers

Fun fact kitsch had very mixed reaction by the public for several reasons Liz only had five seconds the song is very polarizing to a lot of people so kitsch was the perfect pre release it brought a lot of attention and reactions (bad publicity is still publicity) it then started to grow on people then I am realeased a more commercial loud bombastic and objective more cohesive song and everyone loves it

Just thought I should point out that I fell in love with kitsch before I even watched the MV because it came up repeatedly on my release radar. And soon enough I was just going around singing KITSCH KITSCH KITSCH HAHA. But with I AM I didn’t know how much I loved this song before I saw them live and they opened with this - it was EPIC AF. I AM is one of my new top 5 songs of all time. Apple and MAGO are in 1st and 2nd respectively with First Sight being in 3rd.
