Purple Kiss being slept on by most everybody is one of the worst crimes in KPop
@Slayologyy4 ай бұрын
A fun fact: The members kept seeing the word "Rilas", and "Rilas" backward is "salir", which means in Spanish "Leave" or "Get Out". This scene was probably inspired by the movie The shining". In the movie, Danny saw a word on the wall, the word is "Redrum" and when he looked in the mirror he realized that it means "Murder" but it's written backward.

this is one of my favorite songs by them. And I LOVE the choreography. I think this is the most epic dancing with vocals. I love there dance practice for this song.

I just had the opportunity to see them live in San Antonio this past weekend. They're so, so masterful singing live. I couldn't believe how great they sounded in person, and you could tell that it was truly live vocals. They did this song as well as 7heaven and their other title tracks, in addition to some amazing covers. Thank you so much for taking a look at this one!! PS. While I love it, I agree with you that the music video doesn't really live up to the standard of the song itself. It's one of their best songs, but the MV is only okay. Nerdy is probably a better music video despite being a much less popular song. (Though Nerdy will always be my favorite.)

I saw them that night too! They're really an incredible group to watch live, and seeing them perform this song was such a thrill.

This. I went with my sister, not a Kpop fan but who I also dragged to a Mamamoo concert, and she really thought Purple Kiss wasn't singing live. Like it was just their backing vocals, but they really just sound THAT good in person. It's straight criminal that they aren't getting the recognition they deserve
@octo448 Жыл бұрын
@@2ndKidd There are some songs where the backing vocals are a little stronger, but yeah PK are almost always actually singing. Kpop idols train while singing on treadmills, or they used to. It's intense!

Your criticisms of the video I think are fair. I almost didn’t like this comeback originally and it was a bit before I realized I loved the song but just felt like something was off between the pace of the song and the pace of the video. So I definitely agree with you there, it does feel a bit disjointed. But I also feel like to still tells the story they wanted- their intent with Sweet Juice (and the whole album really) was to reflect on this feeling of cabin fever that so many of us were feeling from the pandemic. We were all separated from the ones we love and felt alone and disconnected from the rest of the world, which they show by each member having their own experience into the hotel. They each were dealing with their own struggle in their isolation (each having scenes from popular horror films like the Shining, Poltergeist, etc). But at the end, even tho they were trapped in the hotel, they were together. They were basically saying, “the world is a scary uncertain place now, but you can join us and take comfort together.” So for that reason, I’m fine with them meeting at the end, rather than some point I’m the middle of the video. But I do feel like they could have found a way to edit the story in a way that better matched the pace of the song. They mentioned during recording that this was the first time they tried to essentially sound the same. They didn’t want to have any member sound strikingly different than the rest, the way they do in their other songs. So I’m curious is that may be the reason you felt all their vocals were so strong, cause no one member stood out, but also no member felt left out or sub par. It really suits the song.
@hyleore Жыл бұрын
Ohh the isolation makes sense in that way, because when they are on their own they get all those signs to "salir" (get out), and the phonecall with the invitation, and THEN they actually get together at the end, when Swan sings "We're through" (they're out of the forced isolation and together) - the story works pretty well especially linking it to confinement. I also see PD's point that it could have been edited differently, so that the ending with them getting together would be more clearly "climactic". But rewatching it, thinking about how they're stuck and locked separately and escaping to be able to party and enjoy the "sweet juice" together, really pulls everything together in my opinion.

I just saw them live in Phoenix. They're really good vocals carry over to live singing, and they have become confident stage performers. They are very much following in Mamamoo's footsteps. The MV does have an interesting story line that took me a number of views to fully understand. I'm sure I missed some subtleties even now. I care enough about the group to put in the effort and a casual listener probably wouldn't care.

Thank you for releasing the reaction. I love Sweet Juice so much. I just commented under another reaction that I liked a lot of music this year, but Sweet Juice was one of the select stand-outs for me. I love the sound, I love their vocal performances, I love their choreography, I even loved their outfits. The video was fine for me - I think I along with others got caught up in trying to figure out the story, picking out movie references, and figuring out the mystery word. That is interesting about the lighting. It helps to know what could make a video look better. The song Sweet Juice is beyond, though. If you have a few more minutes to spare, it is worth checking out their band live version. They gave it a slightly different treatment fitting for a spy film soundtrack.

The figure in black is the attacker. When she comes to Goeun in the bathtub (Psycho reference) she is defeated. We see the hat in the bathtub and Goeun walking away. At that point the attacks on the individual members cease. Rilas is Salir (Spanish for get out) backwards (one of the Shining references). Members have said the Sweet Juice stands for freedom.
