The Lamenters are for me, one of the most humanized chapters amongst all the other chapters combined. They may not be as celebrated and feared as the Carcharodons, not as ferocious as the Minotaurs, or held in high regard as the former Astral Claws, but they were never failures. They are the epitome of what it means to be a Space Marine - a beacon of hope when all seems lost, never wavering in their duty to their oath.

In Ritual of the Damned codex there is also a very interesting yet brief line about what's going on at an Imperial Prison crawling with new psykers. "We'd been putting the ones going strange into solitary confinement. Only fed them every three day-even the strongest guards couldn't bear to go near them. Then the Space Marines arrived in yellow armour, bleeding hearts on their shoulders. They took them all, the other inmates too. We didn't argue."

The unlucky sadbois. They are often compared to the Salamanders for their love of humanity, but I argue that the Lamenters are even greater. The Salamanders are widely respected and appreciated by the Imperium, whereas the Lamenters are universally despised, no matter how noble their actions and intentions. That makes their choice to stay loyal and kind even more powerful.

Lamenters are my favorite chapter! I have a modest little collection of Firstborn Blood Angel models and Primaris painted as Lamenters. They aren't nearly enough for an actual army, but I am able to play Kill Team with my roommate and that's good enough for me.

my favourite thing is sure they are unlucky, but these boys are competent. imagine holding of a black crusade for 6 weeks without reinforcements. the minotaurs only fight at full strength. yes they beat the lamenters in the end. the lamenters who were battle weary barely at 400 strong wiped out over half of the minotaurs chapter until they surrendered because their wounded were in danger.

It's unreal to me that the lamenters refused to aid the blood angels in their darkest hour. Even if they only had 10 marines they should have gone to their aid. Even if it meant their extinction as a chapter, defending their progenitor chapter should have taken priority. Just my personal opinion

The reason for their terrible luck is that they have a gene seed modified to NOT include the black rage (later they still get it lol) and the dark rider of the 2 abstract concepts who's avatar is sanguinius, got really fucking angry at this and rewrote reality in such a *specific way* that regardless of how unlikely it is, bad luck will befall the lamenters BECAUSE they had the audacity to try and deny a part of the abstraction they literally become the adopted children to. Sangy still loves em obviously but his true abstract form is a concept and will still do it's shit as that is the natural working and interactions of such abstracta in such situations, even if both the admech modifying it and the lamenters accepting it didn't want to insult sanguinius, by not accepting a part of his very being conceptually, they didn't accept the full, *real him* and the rage EVENTUALLY did come on slaughterhouse 3 because abstract concepts don't give af u mess with them and they'll rewrite all they need to for you to feel their salt lmao. TLDR: the darkness as a concept is not to be insulted, even on accident and even if it's merged with the light.

@@ellis7622 it's called abstracta science which when working with string theory and higher dimensions and adding lore bits like the emperor being the antithesis to the chaos spectrum abstracts and therefore is the literal concept of order, explaining how he gets outerversal true form omnipotent omniscient and omnipresent abstract concepts to become avatars to help him with their non corrupted avatars that aren't fucked from the war in heaven to help as a normal avatar or any for that matter can't talk with true form abstracts due to them being beyond everything and it just so happens sangy not only has his concepts felt via the black rage which is psychically felt by his marines like an ACTUAL real life concept is with it just BEING a thing that doesn't need any physical avatar to have happen, actively had the abstraction of the darkness that makes up his proverbial ying yang stick with the light and dark rider, get REALLY fucking angry when that part of him is basically rejected in physical reality in a place where he SHOULD have his abstract energies present in the DNA constructs and so rewrites fucking anything and everything....if it means one fucking space marine chapter of the thousand or so has awful luck.
