We would like an update when you have one. Good work South Coast.

I got ya covered. Once I get everything put back together I’ll do an update video!

There is no need to disconnect the batteries, charge them in place with a single charger. The RAM HD diesels come with two batteries wired in parallel. So charging one battery automatically charges the second battery, you only need one single channel charger. On my RAM Cummins, I use a single channel 4 amp Battery Tender wired to the passenger side battery and this keeps both batteries at full charge when I'm not using the truck. I wired into the passenger side battery, less busy on this side.

Thus is true, for general charging. If there is a suspected parasitic drain, or the need for a repair cycle on a batter it is better to have them disconnected and charging separately, in my opinion.

@@south_coast Is the parasitic drain constant or periodic. It is normal for a periodic use of power, for example, the RF-HUB will wake periodically to snif for its key FOB signal. If the drain is constant then you need to find out why. First, isolate one of the batteries and see if it looses power, then try the other battery, if they pass, this elimantes a defective cell in the battery. The next step would measure power across the fuses to see which circuit is using power. There are tons of KZbin videos detailing this process. A bad acting battery can take down a good battery since they are wired in parallel. I just installed new batteries a few month ago because one battery was a bad actor and it took time to find the cause. Even though I have a jump pack capable of starting a 6.7L, I found out a bad battery can pull the power from the jump pack and you have a no-crank. I hate being stranded. I did get 8 years out of the factory batteries in a Michigan climate.

That’s solid advice! Thank you for sharing g

When both of your "batteries" are connected, they are a single, 12v battery. No need to charge separate. You are making it harder than it needs to be. Leave both attached and just need to charge one, as they are connected.

I understand what you’re saying. I’ve had some slow start issues, so I wanted to charge them separately in case one of the two is damaged.
