The movie shows the situation not as tragic as it actually was. I get why they made it like this, to be more emotional being able to see and talk to his family but what really happened is horrifying. John started searching for the birth canal, a very tight passage in the cave. He went in head first into what he thought was the birth canal but he was actually at a different hole in the cave which was an unexplored section. It was actually a dead end but he didn't know. John realised after a bit that he was stuck in that spot and couldn't turn around to get out of the hole he was in. Rescuers could have been able to get him out of there but his next move was his biggest mistake that lead to his tragic death. He exhaled all of his breath to make his chest smaller so he could go further. When he breathed out and his chest extended he got permanently stuck head first in there, so it was pretty much impossible to pull him out. He couldn't see his family for 27 hours, just hear their voices praying for him. He couldn't move a muscle and couldn't breath properly and being is so much pain. Only darkness. His family and rescuers could only see his black shoes. No-one deserves that crap. After 27 painful hours, he finally took his last breath and died in there. The entrance was sealed with cement and his remains still exist in that hole. What a horrible way to die, I'm really sorry that he had to go through all that just to die. He made a mistake that costed him his life. Sad thing is he had a family too his wife, one child alive and one on the way. Rest In Peace John Jones. May he finally relax and we hope he is in a better place.

It's not just doing something dangerous it's doing something dangerous without knowing what you are doing. Having been crawling in tight passages myself, I can imagine what ordeal he must have been through, physically and mentally, it's really tragic. But where I went, I went with people who perfectly knew the site, I never went anywhere just because I "thought" it was the right direction. I worry about my husband every day because of this, i would never want to see my husband in this type of situation but it is possible every time he goes in that mine every day. To the family what a wonderful son, dad, brother, and husband they have, his life will be honored and cherished by many, and I want to say i hope you all the blessings in life that one can get. Real John Jones was twice the size of this actor at the only age of 26. I feel sad for how it all ended but he's cause of his death. Exploring unmapped deep tunnels knowing that you will barely fin into and not knowing where it ends, if it is a dead end (which most of the times it was) and if you're able to turn around. All this at 8PM (in the movie it's daytime). I wish he had stayed home with his family and pregnant wife enjoying Thanksgiving. If I'll ever have the chance to grow a family (I doubt it), I would never risk my life just for selfish adventure. I'd rather stay with her the whole time, especially during pregnancy. Rip.

I don't expect you or anyone who does not have a deep passion inside of them to understand why people go caving, or rock climbing, or surf big waves or do anything that the rest of you would call 'dangerous'. The drive, the passion, the want to explore and push further, see more. All the greatest moments in history were made by people who had that drive in them. And for that matter, none of you, or even myself would exist if everyone thought like you and decided not to go anywhere or do anything that is "dangerous". All of humanity would still be living in Africa with no boats or planes or cars, or any modern technology. So, instead of hating on people, just accept that it's not your thing and let it be. People like myself will go ahead and take the risks for you so that in the future your lives will be enhanced by our drive and passion...

I heard of this story. How sad for that man, they couldn't get him free.
@seekeroftruth698 жыл бұрын
I've been there in that same cave. where he was stuck was called "the birth canal". The entrance was a hole in the wall about 100 yards into the cave, the sides were literally only shoulder width wide and it was only about 11 inches from floor to ceiling. so you had to enter with your arms stretched in front of you. it went for about 12 feet then hairpin turned up and went up and back the other direction for about 8 feet then curved to the left, after another 15 feet it opened into a large cavern. on the back, at the point where it made the left turn there was enough room to turn around and slide yourself backwards facing up, so you could curve you legs into the drop and worm your way to exit feet first. that's where he got stuck. I'm assuming he tried to go head first and wedged his back from attempting to force his body to bend that way. ....it's actually a sad story

it wasn't the birth canal, it was an uncharted part of the cave, below eds push IIRC read it from one of the rescuers who was there.

John Jones was not the first to die, he was the last! I had a neighbor 18yrs old, Ariel Singer with three of her friends that died in I believe 2005, drowned in one of the tunnels,"Cave of Death". They took a wrong turn that was a dead end, literally. All the deaths are very sad! The Nutty Putty caves were remarkable, fun adventure, BUT ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING, NOT to be taken lightly, it was SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS. May EVERYONE that DID NOT make it out of the Nutty Putty caves alive, rest in peace & ALL those that DID be grateful for everyday above ground, literally. ❤️💔❤️

And to my knowledge, John is the only one who's never been recovered.

They left them there because it was to impossible to pull him up god if I was there I wouldn’t be ready to die It’s sad cuz he basically killed himself as the sign should’ve said “Go at your own risk” (Falls , inadequate air, Hazardous, are involved) Since 2009-2017 😥 8 years left In that cave who knows ...he’s still stuck living with bones. And I’ve just barely found this out yesterday.

I was very moved by this film. I'm not hiding it. Especially since there were many similar accidents involving cavers. Man is a land creature. It doesn't fly. He doesn't live underground. To live, it needs open space and dry hard land, clean air and sun. in Jones' case, many of these conditions were broken. He went deep underground. Without a rope belay with his brother, who, if they had been connected in time, would have reacted, stopping his brother's descent. the moment Jones began to have difficulty crawling in these tunnels, he should have immediately retreated and come to the surface. And he would still live. But knowing about his risky passion, the question is how long. NO. He acted very recklessly. first of all, he was very young and his wife was also very young and pregnant. Something like the exploitation of caves and caves should be ended once and for all at this point. A tragedy at your own request. because why didn't he stop on this tunnel ramp and wait for his brother's help and just kept sticking his head and the rest of his body into another narrow hole 🤦. You can see that he was still a thrill seeker without imagination. This whole damn tunnel should have been filled with concrete much earlier. but in the USA only 💵💵💵 rules. And safety will always come second. Such a country. I feel very sorry for the boy, because what he felt while dying deep down there and in such a terrible position cannot be conveyed in any way in a feature film or in the studies on YT. he was in a deep narrow crevice almost vertically and his height was 183 cm. He fell into it so much that his leg couldn't be bent to pull him out. If the knees were in the opposite direction. His brother would have been able to slowly pull him out himself. Jones left his young, pregnant wife, and his tortured body was forever subjected to rapid decomposition in the humidity and heat in that cursed cave. What could his wife be thinking? That he's still there. And she can't hug him. See. Only God knows our fate and its ending. we can only passively wait for our end Everyone has their own end written and I think that Jones' tragedy is a lesson in humility for others. I know from my own experience that if a tragedy happens somewhere, and this happened to me 12 years ago, good must come out of it, and that was the case with me. I was a bad person and someone close to me suddenly died changed my soul as a sinner. Let us respect everything that has been given to us. Even the smallest things are truly beautiful. We are here on earth only for love. Only it comes from God as we ourselves..

It was hideously bad, I give it 2 out of 10. It was all about his life and marriage, and hardly anything about the rescue attempt. I'm struggling to think of a worse film.
@musicaltheatergeek792 жыл бұрын
@@colinjava8447 That doesn't necessarily make it bad; it just wasn't your cup of tea. This movie wanted to focus on his family and marriage, because they were very important to John and the main things he was contemplating about as he was trapped. This film was more of a tribute to John and his loved ones than a play-by-play account of the 24+ hour rescue attempt. For what it's worth, I too enjoyed it and agree that the acting was good, too.
@colinjava84472 жыл бұрын
@@musicaltheatergeek79 Yeah but there was nothing special about his marriage or homelife that was worth watching, you might as well have been watching a film about your next door neighbor and his boring life. Even "downsizing" was a better film than this, and that was bloody awful.
