@@aphexon. of course it makes sense....because the move ..in a chess game will work based only on what the opponent plays...so if i play bg6...but my opponent misses the correct reply...my defense has worked....the fact that i would lose with best play by my opponent is irrelevant,,,,until....he actually plays it...and we see this all the time...commentators.."he played great defense...but it came up short"..or "he played great defense to save the game...but if so and so had more time he might have found the winning move"

My favorite game of all time was between Ivanchuk and Kasparov in Linares in 91 I believe. Kasparov was in his prime and a young Ivanchuk made Kasparov look like a amateur. He had almost all of Kasparov’s pieces in one corner of the board. Kasparov didn’t get anxious about playing many people in those days but Chucky was one of them.

Really? I Thought that's a weird joke. With only 32 pieces on a 8x8 board and strict movement rules, surely all the meaningful positions have been discovered long ago? It's not like a deck of 36 cards where by shuffling you almost certainly always get a new unique never seen before deck order.

Yeah that was really sneaky but sporting at the same time. Since Ivanchuk has a special love for artistic check, I'm sure he appreciated that Giri pushed him until the end.

Cool!! #suggestion Could you show sth with the Keoni Hiva gambit. At least it is better than the Latvian. If unaccepted you can castle queenside. Or if you encounter double fianchetto not castle at all. Just sayin' if u want to try it out. It is a flower power opening. Peace!

When I play black against King's Gambit, I always accept that and I try to exchange pieces as much as possible and try to queenside castle as soon as possible.

Back at 6:18, what was wrong to counter ... h6 with Kxe6 g7xe6; Bxh6 g7xh6; Qxh6, whatever white plays Rg1 next move is crushing? You say "he might be interested but he's not", what do I miss?

I remember Kasparov playing the King's Gambit against Karjakin in his comeback at the St. Louis RnB 2017 to great astonishment.

King's Gambit may not be used often today, there's also the Caro-Kann being another.
