The chess24 Legends of Chess is the 4th stage of the $1 million Magnus Carlsen Chess Tour and features Magnus Carlsen and his predecessors as World Champion Vishy Anand and Vladimir Kramnik. It consists of two stages, a 10-player preliminary, where each player plays each other once, followed by a knockout among the top 4. Prelim ties are played as 4-game rapid matches, while knockout ties are the best of 3 such matches. The prize fund is $150,000, with $45,000 for first place, while the winner also qualifies for the $300,000 Grand Final.
The time control is 15 minutes for all moves with a 10-second increment from move 1. The winner of a preliminary tie decided in rapid games gets 3 points. If the score is 2:2 an Armageddon game is played, where White has 5 minutes to Black's 4 but a draw counts as a win for Black. A winner in Armageddon gets 2 match points, while the loser gets 1. The knockout format is the same except before Armageddon there are two 5+3 blitz games. No draw offers are allowed before move 40. Official website: chess24.com/tour

Ivanchuk has been my favorite player for a very long time now. I've always said that when he brings his A game, no one can beat him. The best they can hope for is to draw without too much embarrassment, the worst is he plays like a chess engine and dismantles you like a children's rod puzzle. I also think he's the most exciting player because you truly never know which Ivanchuk you're going to get, so you can't really prepare too well.

Ryan Flanagan i have a question, I am a muslim and yes we do believe in Jesus as a prophet, so, as I do pray to the almighty and believe in the wisdom of his prophet,according to you will I go to haven too, since I have never had a drop of alcohol, never committed most sins, only minor ones or according to you I will be punished only due to calling myself another group while having same or higher standards for most matters. For the record, I am no saint but the core beliefs are never disobeyed by me. Also don’t preach to random people who have little to no interest. Let everyone live by their own rules and never look down upon them, just do what you believe is correct as long as others aren’t adversely affected.

Rf8 wasn't the move, you can trade queen with rook, yes it's winning in material but white won't be able to checkmate with just queen alone, besides black still have 3 strong pawns and a rook! Rf7 is probably the checkmate move, although a bit long and tricky (I think there's one alternative move to prevent checkmate if white plays Rf7, which I haven't calculated lol)...

How simple are you? All Agadmator does is have stockfish analyze whatever game he feels like uploading to KZbin and then he just takes on the human persona of Stockfish and rambles about the game. Listen to how he talks. He constantly mixes up which side is to move and doesn't even know what a good move is unless the engine suggested it to him. How he got so many subs to his channel is beyond me. He's not even IM level. I watched a game where he played against one of Magnus's friends and Magnus moved the pieces while his student told him what to move. Magnus's student destroyed Agadmator so simply it wasn't even worth watching the game. I've played Antonio on Lichess a few times and he knows simple openings but that's it. No middle game strats whatsoever and his endgame is terrible because he doesn't know how to play the middle game. That's cool though you can be a fanboy if you like I won't judge

I've been obsessing over the last phase of this match all night and morning. I'm not a master and I could be wrong, but not playing white rook to F8 does not look like a blunder. Black king to H7 strongly defends against that attack. In every scenario I played there if Magnus continued the attack I could not find a combo where he wouldn't loose the rook and possibly trade queens with no checkmate. The only winning attack I could see with the time left is rook to F7 and queen to anywhere on row 7 to its left. It feels like such an obvious play that I am suspicious there was a black move that I do not see yet. The only mistake I saw at the end was leaving D7 undefended. I'm not sure if he didn't see it or gambled for the win since they were getting low on time. Either way it was a very beautiful game. Thank you for the channel and commentary.

I don't completly understand what you're saying after your Rf8-Kh7 Idea but after that White can simply play Rf7, pinning the Queen to the King with the Rook
@lukasemilandersen898
@lukasemilandersen898 2 жыл бұрын
I'm also a bit confused... in the case Rf7 is played, cant black just play Re4 to eyeing the white queen, forcing Qd7, going into a draw? And if Rf8 is played it is pretty much the same, black will lose the queen, but white cannot checkmate. Used an engine to double check, and sees it as a draw. Maybe magnus thought he had a winning chance and already saw that the Rf7/8 line was a draw?
