It's sad you feel the need to comment this. Some people are bigots, unfortunately. It is such a beautiful story. I didn't see it coming and was so pleasantly surprised when Frank made himself known and then I felt dread. Only because I played the game. Then everything happened in the show and I cried. Amazing writing. Amazing acting. This show, in general, should win all of the awards. My only complaint is that I wanted so much more Nick Offerman and wanted the Ellie and Bill interactions. That being said, I was more than satisfied with this episode. Enough to say, it's one of the greatest pieces of film I've ever seen. All time.

Thanks for the reaction video. Me and my husband have been together for over 22 years now and Bill and Frank are like us. Old, grumpy men, but love each other more and more for every day. Because, that we look and behaving like ordinary straight men, (with beards) people we meet have a hard time to see that we are gays. Not that we care, and have never cared about it. This episode talks directly to us, because it is a love-story that we, for once, can relate to. Not like "Titanic" or anything. Just to men who love each other until the end of the world. To see internet exploding with straight guys, crying their eyes out over a grumpy, gay couple is so comforting. Before this episode, it felt like we were the only 'normal' gays in the world and we never felt that we truly belong anywhere. Now, we know that we are more appreciated and welcome that we can imagen. I know that the story is a universal love-story that anyone can relate to, but this time the lovers are masculine men and gays. So thanks again for your reaction video. It made me happy. Cheers! 🍻

The episode is about the main theme of The Last of Us. Surviving vs Living. Bill taught Frank how to survive, and Frank taught Bill how to live. The difference between the game and the movie happens during that argument in the street. In the game Bill says absolutely not, Frank starts resenting him because he’s an extrovert. Eventually Frank leaves, gets bitten, hangs himself to not turn. And leaves an angry letter to Bill, to which Bill swallows his tears and feelings and goes, “Well then fuck you too”. Bill will die bitter and angry having never lived at all. In the show Bill compromised a bit, and let Frank love him how he wanted to love him. Let him make a friend, Tess and Joel. Spruce up the neighborhood. Frank in turn compromised and settled for just that. It’s still an apocalypse, he can’t invite too many people or do too much. So they both died satisfied, in each other’s arms, after a full life. In either case their plot purpose is to teach Joel that surviving isn’t enough. In the game Bill shows Joel how bad and purposeless his life can be if he doesn’t open up. In the show Bill shows Joel how good it can be if he opens up. Joel reads the letter and realizes that Frank died happy. And Tess died never having that chance. So he starts opening up a bit. Both Bill and Franks are sides of the same coin. The bad ending. And the good ending.

The day before I watched this episode, my daughter who is dying of metastatic cancer, called to tell me that when she can't endure any more pain she's going to New Mexico or Washington. That's the only states we have family and they allow euthanasia. I told her I needed time and hung up the phone. Watching this episode made me see that my daughter deserves the right to leave this world on her terms. The fuck of it all is that I'm in Canada and can't travel due to my own health, so the only way I can be with her is on Skype. She didn't want that, but I told her, "I WAS THERE THE FIRST TIME YOU OPENED YOUR EYES AND I WILL BE THERE WHEN YOU CLOSE THEM FOR THE LAST TIME!' On behalf of my gay son, thank you for being so open-minded. On behalf of my dying daughter, thank you for letting me vent. Wishing you and yours peace and love from Toronto. 🩶❤🩶❤🩶❤

Yes. And the fact that there are people who missed the complete point of the episode is mind boggling. Apart from the idiots who just hate on anything gay, people hated that an entire episode was devoted to Bill and Frank for "No reason". The whole point of this story is love and finding something to fight for when you think your life is over. Bill found Frank and Joel found Ellie after losing Sarah and Tess. THAT was the point.

The people complaining about this episode are doing it for a reason and we know why. They claimed it had nothing to do with the story and it was just a filler episode blah blah. Im like really? have you seen all 9 episodes? how can you make that claim without watching all 9 episodes? The writing on this show is remarkable. The set designs are perfect and beautiful. The acting is top-notch and omg the camera shots so far. There is something I haven't seen people catch and that is all the times Joel told Ellie to wait or stay here and her not listening at all but for that one time with the letter. That is intentional and gamers should know why. We should get the answer to why in an Ellie backstory episode.

But, remember, in the game, their relationship didn't exactly end well. It almost comes across like their relationship became toxic and Frank took off. The only real difference from the game, besides all the game play and the confrontations w/the walkers/infected, was that in this case, they were a happy gay couple that LIVED and LOVED and went on their own terms.

I can see everything in this episode being the same as the game up to the point Frank wants to fix up the neighborhood. I wish there could be an Emmy for best episode! Yes I understand they submit certain episodes for writing and directing awards but you know they still consider the show as a whole when voting. I've heard great things about Succession, and want to see it at some point. I fully believe it's probably a better show overall, especially for what seemed to be a very satisfying conclusion. The Last Of Us was very good as a whole, but not great. Yet this one episode... I wish it was able to get more award recognition as a stand alone. Even the very last episode of Succession didnt get talked about as much as this one, or did it evoke as much emotion in people.

This was an interesting reaction to watch.. that audio, man. I hope you guys can spring for some mics soon. It was mostly wholesome fun.. but, one thing that bothered me watching the reaction-you guys wouldn’t allow the emotional moments of the show to really have the room they needed to be absorbed. And you kept calling each other pussies for crying or showing emotion.. and that’s the entire reason why I watch reactions. I like seeing people react and emote to the content I also love. So I hope you don’t continue to shy away from that in the future.

@michellestone6584

@@SPSol okay, well, I don’t love to nitpick but since you’re kind of making me, you said it and then the other two said “yep. Yeah he is.” “I am too.” “They grew up with women.” As if it’s a woman’s thing to be emotional. Emotions are accessible to every gender. Like, just be confident in displaying your emotional reactions because that’s the whole point, you know? Watching people feel uncomfortable to be sad is like watching tv with my grandfather. You guys are not that old. Being emotional is a sign of maturity to me. And the guy on the right was essentially a statue for the majority of the episode. His face told zero stories. And since I’m here, I’d also like to point out that I found it odd that you guys cut out most of the kissing or intimate moments between bill and frank. You left one or two but I felt like the ones you left out were the ones that really showed the tenderness of their relationship and again-can prompt the viewer to get emotional. It may have been a total accident- but it is something I noticed. I’m also writing all of this because I saw a comment on another video of someone praising the men for not crying and I hated that. That’s the opposite of what I want as a viewer. And I hope to stay a viewer of yours so please take all of this as constructive criticism and not just negativity.

Ok, WTF kept Joel and Tess in the QZ for so long? In episode 1, Joel was taking shit jobs like body disposable and sewer cleaning to get by. Tess was risking her life on shadey deals with untrustworthy people. They clearly can get in and out of the QZ undetected as easy as they please, can handle themselves against dangerous people and infected, and know their way around well enough that they dont need an army. I would have asked Bill and Frank to move into the town after the 3rd supply run once B&F trusted that we were legit trustworthy. If B&F said no, we find someplace else to live. Fuck the QZ. I wouldn't stand for it.
@SteveBonario
@SteveBonario Жыл бұрын
This is a really good observation and I wondered the same -- why did Tess and Joel stay in the QZ? Maybe things were OK/better in the QZ until the Fireflies started their activities and made FEDRA more twitchy/authoritarian? I'm not sure they can leave the QZ as "easy as they please" -- it was still dangerous to do it.
@UltimaTheSeraph
@UltimaTheSeraph Жыл бұрын
Here are some reasons why: 1. Joel's shitty jobs are just cover...his real job is smuggling, but FEDRA can't know that, otherwise he'd be executed, and FEDRA kept everyone in check in the QZ, hence why Joel and Tess needs cover jobs, just to show that they make ends meet that way, otherwise it would be too suspicious. 2. QZ has things Bill & Frank don't as stated by Joel during their garden lunch. This means that FEDRA do supply runs regularly and I assume their supply runs cover much bigger areas, cities and towns more than Bill & Frank can cover (I think Bill & Frank only has supplies from their own town). This makes trading between Joel and Bill important. 3. Trading is essential. If Joel and Tess left QZ and joined Bill & Frank, the trading line stops and they would run out of essentials eventually, and the crucial part is medicine. They cannot trade with QZ because FEDRA is dictatorship, they would just raid Bill's Town.
@michellestone6584
@michellestone6584 Жыл бұрын
I was about to comment the same but you pretty much covered everything. I genuinely think the main issue being the lack of essentials. But also, let’s not forget Tommy. Joel likely felt the need to stay connected to him.
@UltimaTheSeraph
@UltimaTheSeraph Жыл бұрын
@@michellestone6584 Hmmm... essentials is indeed the main issue, since QZ has a big population, that means they can also produce some of those essentials, that is crucial. Bill & Frank don't have the manpower to start production of for an example drugs and medicine (as stated from Ep 1 by FEDRA soldier that one of their QZ produces ammo and pills). As for staying connected to Tommy, I don't think this is the case. Tommy obviously cannot go to QZ without problems bca he's an ex Firefly and QZ has a strict entry rules, unless they sneak in the way Joel always does. And Joel can still contact Tommy, even more freely as B&F have their own radio, while in QZ he needs to contact Tommy through the radio center.

The way they did the episode was unnecessary woke. Which is a trend in american tv lately. Frank appeared from nowhere and happens to be gay too, how convenient. While Frank did committed suicide in the game because he was infected and he hated Bills guts, that's why he left Bill. In the series however the reason he wanted to kill himself is a nudge to euthanasia, where people who are sick can decide to continue to live on or not. However in the series Frank didn't seem to suffer too much from a terminal illness and did most of the things fine, so there was no need for him to end his life. All in all it was a bit awkward social commentary forced upon the viewer.

It also mirrors Bill's role in the game showing what living only to survive looks like and leads to as a warning to Joel where here it's an example of how he did find meaning by opening up to frank whilst in the game he drove him off. If you can't see the themes and appreciate how it fits and both ties into the main characters you got some huge political blinders on yourself.

bill and frank were very much gay in the game before frank left bill. it’s not our fault you are incapable of reading into subtext.

I cant believe people think this was a good episode. 40min of rubbish ( the rest was great) The only reason people are saying its great is to follow the Woke agenda. How it added to the story is beyond me. Im not watching the show anymore. I know I will get hate for this... Im expecting it. LOL

@@kathydoro1527 Maybe you should do your research on shows before you watch them. If you are so easily turned off by the subject matter of one episode maybe the extra work would be worth it.

This was easily the best episode of the series yet! IMO of course but just AWESOME Acting, Directing, and Writing! If you have not seen it, it is a MUST! These two men deserve some sort of award for their performances! Just GREAT! 😎👍🤙✌💖💖💖💖
