I think Ellie left behind the message "I'm sorry" not only because she wasn't able to cure him with her blood but because she promised Sam to stay awake with him, to watch over and comfort him. In the end she fell asleep, meaning Sam was/felt alone when he finally turned :(

That big monster is called a bloater, it's an infected who's been infected for 20 years. In fact there's an actor inside that 40kg mask 😂

The cordyceps fungus takes control of the body but does not feed them. It uses the body for food and replaces body parts that rot or die with fungus. Some don't survive and turn into that human body-fungus combination that Tess and Joel found against the wall when they were in the subway in episode 1. Others remain alive for years and become Clickers. Those that remain alive the longest (more than 10 years) become the large creature at the end of episode 5. Almost the entire body is replaced by fungus.

Another reason these infected were still around is remember the scientists from the first scene of episode 1, the fungus doesn't let the host die, it prevents decomposition by gradually replacing the host parts with the fungus.

They are infeccted but thei body is rotting basicly. The fungi just makes it very slow so they can spread more before they end up like the one we saw on the wall on first episode and, if the time and conditions are right, the last stage is that Bloater/big boe on the end. Oh and don't worry about calling them Zombie/Infected, ppl call them one or another it don't really matter that much. Great react!

The thing isn't alive...Ellie said so near the end😉She can't be wrong right?! Infected/Zombie imo who cares call a monster a monster, call a thing running around biting at your tootsies a zombie. The thing to remember about this show is that it's not meant to be scary. It's not about the infected, or the apocalypse. It's about the people and their relationships, and how they move through the world. It's right there in the title. The Last of US.

Recently found your channel. Started this video and wondered where you were from. Then, ten seconds later you say your from Argentina. Also, don’t feel bad about calling them zombies. Everyone throws a fit when they’re called zombies for some reason. But let’s be real, that’s essentially what they are. The way they’re depicted in the show is no different than any zombie in anything else.

An interesting feature of the show so far is that real "brutality" is only shown to us when Ellie sees it. We see Joel beating the soldier to death in episode 1 because Ellie is there and sees it. Ellie tortures and kills the stalker in episode 3. We see Joel's sniper kills because Ellie sees them. We see Henry's death, Sam being shot and Kathleen's death. With all other killings (Old Sniper, Bryan) you only hear it because the camera is focused on Ellie while she doesn't see these killings herself. I found it really good to make Sam deaf. In the end, this opened the door for Sam to show Ellie the bite and then she could stay in the room with him without being attacked. He simply didn't hear her. Better than solved in the game and has given Ellie even more depth. She really hoped she could help Sam at that moment. In the game, Sam said nothing about his bite. Ellie entered his room the next morning and was attacked. Elli's scream at the end went through and stuck. She's really on a mission now. "I didn't ask for this" she said at the beginning. Now she wants that something like this never happen to anyone again. She wants to bring the cure. Joel said some infected people live 2 months, others over 20 years. The giant at the end was a bloater. He's one of the 20-year-olds.

We see brutality before ellie is even introduced as a character. We see brutality against Bill and frank. We see Kathleen's brutality to the doctor and her prisoners. We see her resistance groups brutality at the start of this episode. Etc.

@@bobandy13 Oh man. That is the point. Again slowly for you. All scenes in which Ellie was not present are completely uninteresting. It's about the scenes in which Ellie was present. It's not so hard to understand. If Ellie has a view of a victim who is being killed, then we also see that like the Fedra Officer in episode 1 or the stalker Ellie kills in episode 3. But if Joel sends Ellie away while killing Bryan in episode 4, the camera stays on Ellie and we don't see the kill. The same thing happens with the sniper. Just before Joel kills him, the camera goes back to Ellie and we only hear the kill.

One of the hard things about this story is we are going to have to realize there are no good guys and bad guys. Joel and Ellie are both making mistakes and will have done a number of bad things in the story by the time of this episode but you are going to learn about them slowly to make you question what is right and wrong. The theme of the show is how love will keep us surviving but that same love may doom humanity. In this episode everyone did what they did from the position of love of someone or something. In the end all but our lead characters are dead. Humanity is in trouble. It is the last of us.
