Still think you should bend some sheet metal to match the bottom of the doors and rocker contour, and build tool boxed under the bed, between the cab and the back tires. It would cover up so much and the storage would be very handy.

Start selling flat beds like yours and youll have a line. Ive got a 03 zr2 s10 as my off road toy and would to have a flat bed just like yours style curves and one of a kind.

That long section of straight pipe under the cab isn't helping the drone situation. Long straight lengths of exhaust tubing tend to resonate in diesels. If you decide you want it to be quieter in the cab, try installing a Flo-Pro Twister in that straight section of pipe. A few years ago, I replaced the factory 3" exhaust on my lightly modified Dodge Ram 12 valve diesel with a 4" Diamond Eye turbo-back system. It came with a 24" straight through muffler that was packed with stainless steel wool. I liked the sound around town, but on the highway, the drone was terrible. Long trips were miserable. I replaced the Diamond Eye muffler with a 40" Donaldson muffler (think small dump truck muffler). The truck is much quieter and I do not believe I lost any performance.

I forget the brand, got it on ebay! It works great for exhaust, but don't use for intakes and such. Eventually it can come off

What did you brush on the inside of the pipe before you started to weld? How do you not have to back purge the pipe with argon? Are you getting any surgaring on the inside? I'm not expert, in fact I have only been TIG welding now for 2 1/2 years, so definitely still learning. I'm interested in some new tips and tricks that I can pick up. Thanks. Keep up the good work!

That is solar flux. It protects the inside of the pipe so no back purging is needed. For exhaust is works great, BUT do not use it for intakes and anything of that nature. Eventually the solar flux may break free and come off

I guess AVR Customs still will not do TDI Conversions. I am still waiting. I am the guy with the like new S10 Blazer. DCS (Diesel Conversion Specialists) makes a kit to attach a TDI to my transmission (adaptor plate, fly wheel, starter all the nuts and bolts, etc...).

It might be better with a more conventional style or large multi chamber muffler. Unfortunately with it being a 4 cylinder it's near impossible to not have it just sound like a Civic with a rice cannon.

His exhaust is TOO LARGE Tdi has no problem breathing through 2” pipe. The turbo inlet and outlet is about 1.5”

A tdi needs no muffler. With a reasonable sized pipe all you hear is turbo whistle Also, the drone is likely his open air filter. Because there is no throttle an incredible amount of noise comes backwards through the intake on these.
