I just pray that Jared will have more time to throw because as soon as the ball was snapped he would have to get rid of it because of just instant pressure. As the game progresses and technology (ie training tools) progresses, the NFL game is going to have less and less "strong and FAT linemen". As Alex points out numerous times here, footwork and evasive agility wins you more battles at the trenches than any amount of brute strength. A combination of footwork, agility, AND strength is what the apex lineman should be. Aaron Donald is the epitome of that. We're seeing it first hand over the last 5 years in the NBA and I feel like we will inevitably see it in the NFL over the next 5-10 years. Linemen will be shredded 6'2"-6'4", 275 pounds, sitting at 8-10% body fat. The game is going to get even faster and faster across all positions.

11:23 - Coach Alex Gibbs teaches us in his clinics that the linemen should have a backside hook arm being thrown to try and catch your man and stop this. Will that stop a beast like Donald? Not really. As an amateur lineman and coach myself though, against non-elite talent, I can tell you how well this works at preventing those moves from working against me and my team mates in zone blocking. My guys and I are ALWAYS throwing that backside hook, unless the situation calls for a flipper, which is another conversation.

AlexRollinsNFL yeah I mentioned that in my other comment, he studied Quinns game against Seattle, and didn’t it originate from Osi Umenyiora(sorry I have no idea how to spell his name) brought it to the league? Furthermore my point is that Donald is the first player to completely master the move and uses it in a much more versatile and has it as such an integral part of his arsenal compared to other guys who use it more sparingly and not as a consistent move like Donald does. I’ve seen tape of Barrett getting a rush on a LT with a single hand using the cross chop, he literally doesn’t even use his right arm at all. It’s just crazy to think about how this move is a new trend among pass rushers and Donald was already ahead of the game and has been using it consistently for a decent amount of time

When Suh played with him you could see there was a chasm in comparison to the two talents. Donald is so calculating and efficient. Suh flopped around with no discipline thinking he could just toss people.

Khalil mack is EASILY the better pass rusher than Donald is. Not taking anything away from his game, he's hands down the best DT in the game, but as far as pass rusher, I give that to Mack any day TWICE on Sunday!!!

Soon rules will change so you can't rush the passer. Offenses rely on rules changes to be competent, and this man proves they can't have high scoring tight games like plebs want. Personally I'd rather see a 17-10 game with great plays than a high scoring game because of rules hindering defenses.
