Absolutely GOATed villain. A common thread across ATLA and LOK is that most of the villains' ideologies are reflections of the nature of their respective elements taken to the ultimate extreme. Earth is the element of substance and stability, which is why Long Feng and the Dai Li from season 2 of ATLA was so obsessed with order. Fire is the element of power and energy but without control it spreads and destroys everything in its path like admiral Zhao, Azula, and Firelord Ozai. Water is the element of balance and equilibrium, and Amon wanted to bring equality to the world by getting rid of people's bending. Finally, there's air, which is the element of freedom. Zaheer wants to bring "true freedom" to the world by ending any kind of organized authority or centralized power structure. The common denominator with most of Korra's villains (with the exception of Unalaq maybe) is that they all started out with basically good intentions before taking things too far. I loved it!! The mystery they established was epic, they really built up the Red Lotus to be a serious threat, I don’t know how they continuously ramp up their villains to get worse and worse but they do it so well

Yeah when the earth queen was killed by Zaheer it shocked me cause it was the first time they actually showed a death up close in an Avatar series btw I knew you were gonna make a Dune reference when they got trapped in the desert Cat

Omg reeeaaally good point!! The (animated) avatar universe usually doesn’t highlight death that much or they cut away from it, maybe that’s why it was so jarring!
