Fun fact about the Percy resurrection: Taliesin said things could have gone very wrong when Vox Machina tried to bring Percy back. It wasn't just fighting off Orthax or doing a complicated ritual, it was convincing Percy to want to live again. Because Percy (and Taliesin) were convinced his story was always meant to be a tragedy, and if it ended with Anna Ripley then maybe that was something like justice. Any pleas to the Gods wouldn't have worked. Neither would telling Percy he still needed vengeance, or reminding him of his dead family. But Vex admitting she was in love with him? In Taliesin's own words: "Oh yeah, that'll do it."

It also shows they did the right move in making it more dramatic and not the "lets go to the next temple and use a diamond" kind of ressurection that it was in the campaign. But you win some, and you lose some. I know there are people out there who were dissappointed that "A bard's lament" was missing from the show. I'm not sure how I feel about its absence. I felt it was not necessary in the show. Pike was around more to comfort and guide Scanlan. And one of the main reasons why that moment was so strong in the campaign was because you were not quite sure how much of it was acted and how much of it was genuine shock. That is hard to translate to a tv show. I still miss it, but not that much that I would it trade it for something else they did instead.

Without delving into spoilers, I don't see how "it's a completely different story now." I expect we're getting the time jump and while off traveling a certain someone could still stumble upon things and draw everyone back together. Then everything is right back on track.

Another vote for EXU:Calamity. It is 4 episodes with a break in the middle of each one. Each section could be treated like a movie reaction. Just scrub the youtube video to find the break, take note of the time, and plan your reaction based on the run time of each section. Also if you don't have the wherewithal to do reactions, I agree, just watch it for yourself on your own time.

Keyleth’s come a long way since Season 1. She found love that keeps her tethered. She found her own path to becoming a leader. She’s survived undeath, passed through fire, braved the fey realm, went to hell and back, and conquered her nemesis. And she did so by utilizing all she’s learned across three seasons to outlast and outwit her, baiting her into incinerating her own corpse, thus leaving the diseased ashes open to being “reclaimed” by the earth and free to be transferred back into her new body. In other words, she _deceived the Deceiver,_ beating Raishan at her own game and reducing her to being the DECEASED Deceiver.

I also look forward to Yasha getting more development, as is she's my least favorite character in CR (other than Opal) and deserves much more. I'm so glad Ashley has been able to flourish in c3

Yes, I know, very unpopular opinion, but I just don't find her charming the way most people seem to. I hope that the series is good, because I couldn't watch all of C2.

I absolutely adore Caleb and Cad, I do like Jester and think she's Laura's chaos incarnate (but I don't love her the way others do), Fjord is just good, Nott was really good but then should have left after some things were resolved, Beau is OK, and Yasha is...meh? I like Yasha because Ashley's dry humor is fun, but as a character she really suffered from her not being there. Oh, and Molly exists. I have no emotional connection to Molly. As a group I find them really fun, but overall I enjoy the individual characters more in C1 and C3. I really don't think C2 is as great as the majority says, I think it hits that nostalgic spot because that's where most jumped on and many just skipped C1 because they couldn't watch from the beginning and didn't like the quality of the recordings.

The good news is that Critical Role really cranks out content. LoVM only debuted in 2022, and they've released 3 season in 2 years. Invincible, another adult animation on Prime, debuted in 2021 and only dropped its second season this past April. Most likely we'll get The Mighty Nein in 2025, and probably LoVM s4 in 2026.

I don't think it's brought up enough how great Matt Mercer is in his few roles in the show. Like, he went absolutely ham voicing Orthax in this episode. And him as the Clasp member in episode 10 felt so genuine to the stream, like him giving exposition to Vax and Vex felt like a moment at table.

In the stream, Keyleth wasn't the one who killed Raishan, it was a guest character. Well that's not entirely true, she did essentially kill who Raishan was with a clutch spell, Feeblemind. If successful upon a failed Intelligence save, it sets Intelligence and Charisma scores to 1, renders them completely able to cast spells or even speak. There is a chance to shake it off once every month, but with the user's intelligence at a severely low level, they would have to be INCREDIBLY lucky. However, for boss monsters, they do have an ability to just say "Yup, I succeeded" a few times in a fight. But, luckily, they forced her to use them all before Kiki made the play.

Take them away and she becomes nothing but an angry, slobbering beast. Her actual death was just formality at that point. Plus, Patrick Rothfuss finally finished something.

I imagine that the voice work is already done ,usually it's always done before the animation and we already had a first look for that a couple months ago and on top of that Travis also said that there is a chance that the Mighty Nein will premiere in late 2025 so they defenitly had recorded the voice linea for the show

Vex and Vax are mercs who drift everywhere and had bad reps with most of their past clientele, Percy was “no mercy Percy”, Scanlan, Grog, and Pike were basically professional bar-crawlers, and Keyleth was the nicest one of them all. Mighty NEIN start with a lot of bad baggage, but their whole story is overcoming it.

This last episode had it all. Percy's resurrection, Keyleth really coming into her power, Scanlan coming to grips with being a good father along with another really good song, Vax coming to terms with being the Matrons champion, and knowing he has obligations, Vex having some real happiness, Grog and Pike just having fun. A minor spoiler though is that spinning ball was shown at the very end of season one under the ziggurat, and is the beginning of the final arc of Vox Machinas campaign, and it only gets better.

The thing that this set is missing is a tail in constant motion while the juggernaut of puppy before it intimidates an inanimate object. This is a sub-plot that we know we all need. Additional tearjerker i noticed after rewatching the season: If you look back at the scene where Scanlan is talking to Kaylie in Marquet, the melody of the song she’s playing IS Kaylie’s song and he mentions that he’s good at lyrics when he was trying to come up with a topic to talk about after leaving the bar. he wrote lyrics to the song she was playing on her flute. that realization really got me.

Something about portraying men in such a great light, watching them call each other brother and clasping hands. Reckon there's a lot of blokes starving for that recently. Asides tho, what a great show this is, put purely and simply, its CHARACTERS. Motives, flaws, arcs, redemptions, this is what we need so much more of. I have a feeling we are going to get the first season of Mighty Nein (their second campaign, animated) before we get Season 4. I'm okay with that since my absolutely favorite FAVORITE CR character ever is part of it. Also, the fan-made love letter and "get well soon" to Sam is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Calamity is on YT. I'm just going to say this: if you choose to watch it, start buying boxes of Kleenex and bottles of wine now. And watch it in small doses. There is a reason that those who saw it probably jumped up and screamed when they heard Xerxus's name (and saw him on screen) in this season of LoVM.

This was hands down the most emotional season. I am a SUCKER for brotherhood so when Vax is reaching out for Percy and says he and Vex love him and calls him "brother" I absolutely LOST it. Fantastic season.

One of them mentioned a month or more ago that they were so busy these days, and how difficult it was to switch characters so much as they had to go from recording Vox Machina to Mighty Nein to then playing on Thursdays their characters for Bells Hells. This told me that they were already recording a fourth season of VM because the voice acting was already in the can for season 3 long ago.

If you will recall Vax did already say the words out loud to Kiki back in season 1. When they were by the sun tree fighting off a horde of undead he told her and got rejected but has been there ever since.

So the spinning ball of death we saw before, it was after the Briarwood arc, when they defeated Sylus and Delilah, thats what they summoned in the ziggurat. And in the post credit scene a guard or someone went down, touched and died.

Angela, I find it funny how attached you are to the characters. No disrespect intended but imagine what it is like for us OG critters that spent 500+ hours with these wonderful characters. I am deeply in love with each and every one of them. TLOVM is kind of an alternate universe and the live show show is main time line, I hope you get a taste of the live show, you will never look back if you love the animated show. Great reaction!

raishon now inhabits thordak’s body, so lance may have been written off the show that way. i think it is an acceptable compromise if thats the case. i’m still amazed they made S3 work as well as they did with what was probably a first draft of the script. and… i want more, just like you!

Percy died in episode 68 in the campaign & was brought back via a resurrection ritual in the next episode, 69 (nice). So Critters had to wait a week to see if Percy would be brought back & so it was fitting that TLOVM watchers also had to wait a week for it to happen. Since the campaign uses D&D 5e rules where revivify, resurrection, and raise dead spells exist, in Exandria the Matron is a little more lax on those type of spells. By this point in the campaign, Pike had died once (pre-stream; it's why her hair turned white), Grog twice, Vex twice, Percy twice, and Scanlan twice. At that point in the campaign, only Vax & Keyleth hadn't died. But keeping that faithful to the animated series would have made each death not that impactful. So I understand why they made resurrection magic in the animated series world much, much rarer & the cost for doing so much more severe. As to the EXU: Calamity 4-episode series (20hr 17min in total), most of the ppl that have reacted to it on KZbin have uploaded it in multi-parts. I think most have watched 1 hour and then made that part 1; watched another hour and made that part 2; etc etc. I don't know if that matches Critical Role's content policy when it comes to reactions of their material, but you can find those specifics on their website.

As for the teaser at the end, there are some tells throughout the show that give hints as to who that is, and what they're after. - Lady Briarwood tells Silas to "Trust in the Whispered One, for we are his blood." - When she barely fails to summon the Whispered One at the end of season one, he leaves behind a spinning black orb with purple lightning. - The devil Xurxes tells Yenk to kill Vox Machina earlier this season, ending with "We are his blood, and the time of his ascension draws near." - The cultists around the spinning dark orb with purple lightning are chanting "We are his blood," while summoning someone.

In D&D, there are different spells that can bring someone back from the dead. The weakest spell that can bring someone back is Revivify, which can only bring someone back who has been dead for less than a minute. This is what was used on Vex in the Sunken Tomb. Someone who is Revivified comes back to life with only a single hit point, but they are otherwise unaffected by their ordeal. More powerful spells can raise someone who has been dead longer. But those spells take longer to cast (meaning they can't be performed during combat like Revivify can), and they take a toll upon the person who is brought back. Raise Dead can bring someone back to life that has been dead for 10 days or less, but the person that was brought back takes a -5 penalty to any attack roll, skill check, or saving throw that they make afterwards. That penalty is reduced by one each time the revived person takes a long rest (which is 8 hours of sleep). Unless the show changes things to make stuff more dramatic (which they've done before), Percy should be right as rain in less than a week.

I'm pretty sure that dark orb with the cultists at the end, is from season 1. In the ziggurot where (I can't remember the characters or VA's names, so I'll name other characters they've voiced) Azula from Avatar TLA and McCree from Overwatch (the witch and the vampire) died.

The actual battle to defeat Raishan obviously went different, but was a huge moment for Marisha and Keyleth nonetheless. With Scanlan down, everyone else on their last legs, and Raishan still being a huge threat, Marisha took a risk that paid off. I highly recommend finding the clip online. A great "snatch victory from the jaws of defeat" moment.

A tad disappointed they didn't do bards lament from the campaign as it was which is a much more gut wretching split of the team for a bit and the indefinite leave of scanlan for an arc or two.

The Grog story, in my own reasoning, is that he is just there to fuck shit up whenever and is happy to be with his friends, his past was resolved, so it's time to look for the future, and i believe he has 1 or 2 Amazing things that they can do with Grog, in LOVM , Pike's story was DONE on season 1 , so in season 2 they gave her the start of her "romantic arc"...........buuuutttt.......... when your character is so agresively tied to faith, and you want to pair your "brand new conflict" with some character and that conflict is tied to the Hells(Originaly the Plane of Fire, changed because idk), you give that character a Struggle of Faith... now, that is the second time Pike has had a Struggle of Faith, and personaly it didn't work for me because she spent half of season 1 BEGGING to the Everlight to guide her, is an important difference to the Campaign, i say important because Pike's personality was tied to her faith for a long time as she got used to and happy with her way of living under the Everlight, so if they change anything, i sure hope they stick with it and don't change it back because she has no God and her blood is magical i guess?. why did i write all that? (other than vent a little :p hehe) Because Grog story in LOVM feels complete, if they want to put him in the spotlight again, they will have to come up with some kind of struggle A G A I N for him to overcome (like Cravenedge) and i could get weird 'cause he doesn't have anything but strength. Also, Grog is sad for the break because last season he found out where his Strength comes from, now if you go into S4 and make my boy a Lone Wolf and that his strength comes from his whatever... OH BOY WOULD I RIOT hahaha
