I subscribe to the idea that the Legion of the Damned are dead Space Marines with such devotion and loyalty to the Emperor that Big E turns them into his Angels beyond death and when a Legionary is spotted on two separate planets across the universe at the same time it is the same Legionary from past, present or future.

​@@ruyman90 Possibly because it might be seen as extreme disrespect, both by the Emperor and the Custodes themselves. The Custodes are one of the only organizations in the galaxy who still know and believe in the Imperial Truth. Being twisted by Chaos, even through the Emperor's own will, might read as a grave insult to their loyalty, especially considering they weren't even comfortable with the Grey Knights and Primarchs intentionally being made psykers. Also, a lot of them were the Emperor's confidantes and buddies, though they're in the minority in the modern day. Violating their souls even in death would be an extreme abuse of their trust.

The warp exists out of time so a living person could theoretically be at both at the same time due to the way they travel so my assumption is they have a great control over that so from their perspective its two different points in time linearly but they can basically just time travel

The tech priest needs to talk to your tank because your tank is frozen in fear. Fortunately, this effect extends to hostile machine spirits as well.

What I love is: they've leaned into this with the Dark Imperium series - Guilliman is said by Chaos to be cutting through the warp and through intense warp storms straight to his target, and it's strongly implied it's either Guilliman's own nascent divinity (as a Son of the Emperor) or Big E himself looking at that part of the Crusade and helping. Which to me seems to imply that Big E is getting as part of his "pantheon" that he can cut through the schemes and lies of the other chaos gods - he is the Supreme Navigator, who cannot be misled or waylaid. Which in turn feels like it's a natural outgrowth of the universe-wide belief that the Emperor Protects - in order to protect you, he has to be able to reach you. SO people, by believing that the Emperor could cut through any storm or any obstacle to come help them, may very well have made it into truth.

My favorite theory, is that the Legion is The Emperor's Wraith made manifest. I read a story about one bring captured on a prison ship, and an inmate ended up releasing one, and the Legion of The Damned Marine reinvigorated those who were left to fight with unbridled rage. The Immate fled on an escape pod, and keeps telling the story to himself just so he doesn't forget it.

If I recall correctly, the firehawks also had a mutation in their geneseed that had them become wreathed in fire as they fought, without the fire harming them, and were slated for termination by the inquistion for being mutants, before disappearing and getting that warp illness.

Random funfact. You could play as Legion of the Damned Marine in Fantasy Flight Games RPG called Deathwatch. They showed up in one of expansions and they were added as an option "when PC died during game and player had to hang out with the rest". So they could recieve replacement for a remainder of adventure.

I think they are/were the Flame Falcons from the 20k era. They were purged by the Grey Knights after all! With their bodies catching a flame just like the Legion of the Damned, it makes them the closest to the LoTD chapter.

No, most of them not. Higher levels of psyker powers are very rare and they are too dangerous to themselves to live to adulthood without supervision on a general rule. Golden throne receives either weak willed, or too dangerous to train psykers. Others will either do astropathy, or be train for battle uses in different organisations of imperium.

I wonder if the reason Big-E was atheist, despite knowing about the Chaos Gods, is because he is so powerful. There is that saying about how a society technologically advanced enough will appear like magic to a lower-tech society. Celestial Lions next? Also, side note: Francis Ford Coppola is Nicholas Cage's uncle, and Cage's original last name is indeed Coppola. He changed it so he could get jobs in Hollywood on his own merits, rather than via nepotism. The name Cage says alot about Nic's geekdom - it's taken from two sources - Johnny Cage from Mortal Kombat, and Marvel character Luke Cage. He also took that role in Ghost Rider because he's a massive fan of the character. He has a large Ghost Rider tattoo that the makeup department had to cover up for the role. 🙂 As for F F Coppola films, besides The Godfather, he also made book-accurate adaptations of both Frankenstein and Dracula titled "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein" and "Bram Stoker's Dracula". Both are insanely good!

These guys make me believe that if one day the Emps "recovers" a bit, he will he actually be "enlightened" enough about the warp that he will make the sacrifice of becoming the God of Humanity. Not unwantingly like he is now, but fully committed to his role. Hell all he needs to do is use what Lorgar already wrote and let himself be worshipped for the glory of Mankind. The "Dream" scenario would be him redeeming his sons from the clutches of other Chaos Gods.

I just feel compelled to "um actually" here. Koda's math is off by well over an order of magnitude. He said that the Golden Throne has been fed trillions of psykers. 1000 psykers x 365 days x 12000 years = 4,380,000,000. 4.38 billion psykers is the maximum fed to the throne as we have not quite hit 12 thousand years after the Emperor ascended the throne.
