The reason why I like these one takes is they aren't just car reviews they are also drives. Reviews quickly get boring and talking about a car can't fully express how it feels to drive while these one takes SHOW how the cars drive. For example I'm not going to watch any review of this car if it doesn't include onboard scenes and from most reviews you only get to know what the host thinks about a car and how it drives in his opinion. In a one take you just see more of the cars. I can't watch doug demorons videos because he never even drives the cars and if he does then he will only show us his face while driving. A big part of the audience probably shares my opinion. Just wanted to make it clear because some people still don't understand why I appreciate these videos even though they are a "low budget" production and can't even get myself to watch some of the higher production "quality" (cost) videos like carfection, petrolitious etc. Doug and a lot of the other channels will always be included in my youtube blocker list.
@herberthans70156 жыл бұрын
These days most of the "automotive" youtubers focus the videos on themselves or irrelevant things turning automotive journalism into a personality cult, most car channels don't even include onboard scenes and don't put any importance on actual driving, and motorsports is getting less attention because there are a lot of cockroaches who use cars to get exposure for their vlogs/products and they steal the spotlight from motorsports and driving videos. that's why TST became my favorite channel, because I simply get to see the cars driving and the videos come with little or no bullshit attached. the fact that doug is one of the most successful in the industry right now and he got there by simply using clickbaits and producing lots of low quality videos shows the horrible state of automotive journalism.

Toyota4Life I’m not knocking the GS, in fact I’m prepping to supercharge my AWG GS F Sport next summer. The GS-F is great value for the performance it provides. My statement was based on the conversation Matt had with Doug on the yesterdays podcast about where the GS-F fits amongst high performance sedans. Doug felt it was too weak and too expensive on power to truly compete with the E63-S, M5 and RS6. Matt said he felt it was great value for the money and it doesn’t need anymore hp. The GS-F is $85k and those sedans I mentioned are also near that $80-95k price, they may not be the full performance from their respective brands, but they match it on price, size and performance S6 has 450hp E53 has 430hp GS-F has 467. None of them offer carbon ceramics.

It took me about 3 months to get really good with it, but that's on me, not the car, I gradually ran faster and faster, corners are a dream, and with all this power, the computers in it will not let me lose it and that make driving it such a relaxing fun time. To be able to hall ass and no worries about spinning out, that's wonderful. The quality of every part on the car is were that money goes, I couldn't be happier with the way the built it, except of course the interface with the maps but I got over that real fast, the screen on it is huge and looks great, built in instead of slapped on the dash, I hate that in so many cars now, this one looks designed right. I also love that it is not a cookie cutter design, most people that aren't car guy, don't know what it is at first and I like not having something that everyone else has. It didn't sell in big numbers is just fine with me. I almost bought an SUV, but I already have two vans, so I skipped that idea and went with a really sweat machine. I think this is the ultimate driving machine, the BMW's just break down too much with little things all the time, I hate that.

And thats wayyyyyyy faster than this car bettee built etc etc. But i guess if you want to go with the germans you gotta pay a bit extra upfront.

If i were on the lookout for a big GT car, i'd take the Lexus LC over the MercAston any day. ..and after watching this it seems that to me, the Lexus GSF is FAR more interesting than the BMW M5. We live in insane times.. I used to love BMW back in the E39, E90 and the likes days. Now the newest BMW i really want is the 1M. I know people say the M2 is great, but that one doesn't speak to me either. ..if only Lexus could come up with less ugly grills..

When this first came out, I was upset Lexus didn’t inject more power in to the engine and also upset that a BMW 550i is a little faster than it. Now, even 2 year old BMW N63 engines are starting to show problems. Lexus did good with the NA engine. This will give at least 20 years of enjoyment from the V8 and this chassis, well worth the price. The turbo V8s on the German mobiles are fun for 3-4 years. After that, you have to worry about putting load on the engine. I cannot wait to find a good 4 year old example of a GSF at a good price.

Everyone likes to state that the car is behind the average CTSV or AMG, but has anyone even tried to live with those cars daily? I'm genuinely curious cause they don't hook up in most normal driving conditions, they're a handful if the road is wet in any way and from what I've seen the people who own them never daily drive them. I daily my ISF, and there are folks where I work who daily their F cars no matter what weather we have (utah). CTSV's AMG's and the M cars on the other hand are kept away in their garages from what I've seen. Hell my ISF is a handful the second the roads get wet and I'm still at stock HP. So 600hp in the hands of an average driver although momentarily thrilling isn't something you're even close to extracting on the street. I get the comparison in terms of spec sheets but for daily use, none of those cars are really being used daily sadly. Also if you want more power RR racing gets these motors upto 650hp. Their latest tune got the ISF to 725. From what I've seen folks make huge hp and then put those beasts to sleep while they putter along in other daily's. Why not buy something sane, that's middle ground and doesn't bite your arm off in bad conditions instead? and hell decent reliability isn't cheap folks. That has to be engineered which costs time and money. Hence the comparable price to their higher powered German counterparts.
@normt54636 жыл бұрын
vidurc It would still be missing AWD with that power level.
@d1sturb3d1196 жыл бұрын
@@normt5463 The CTSV doesnt have awd. The AMG's have their garbage 4 matic which shouldnt even be considered AWD, M cars are RWD only and Audi does provide AWD but is the only car with decent AWD with a performance package.
@ratmtbola6 жыл бұрын
What you're saying is maybe true for the M5's or E63 AMG's from about 10-15 years ago. The new ones make absolutely perfect daily drivers, they can be supremely comfortable if you want them to, they have stuff like adaptive cruise control, massaging seats and whatnot and they both have AWD nowadays, should you ever find yourself in wet/snowy conditions. As a matter of fact im 100% sure they'll make much, much better dailys than this. The GSF seems to be more of a purists version of a high end sports sedan with that beautiful 5.0 V8. Also it's quite a lot cheaper, so I'm not sure if you really can/should compare them. The M5/E63 definitely are the better/more complete cars (just watch Matt's One Take on the E63), whereas I see the GSF as the cheaper (but still awesome!) purists version.

People daily their M cars all the time. There was an E39 M5 sold with 400.000 miles original engine and gearbox. BMWs are extremely durable.
@d1sturb3d1196 жыл бұрын
@@davissilvestrs1996 lol extrememly durable if the owner has durable pockets. I always wonder why bmw owners like to get defensive about reliability. Why dont owners stop making excuses and demand better engineered products? Bmw comes no where near reliability compared to lexus. They could if then wanted to but that's not who they sell to. They engineer cars to fail.
