I agree 100%. As a taxpayer, I support rehabilitation..... NOT taxpayer funded free drug dispensing !!!!!!
@Carlos-sd6czКүн бұрын
as a Taxpayer why I have to pay the rehab of some one that I don't know? A drug user is a personal decision, why I have to pay for others decisions? Drug users must be responsible from their actions.
17 сағат бұрын
@@Carlos-sd6cz Because you're one country. Paying taxes into a common pile, is common for the entire people of the nation (or state). But it looks like US people don't totally get this concept.
@Carlos-sd6cz16 сағат бұрын
I immigrate legally to Canada, and I had assimilate completely to this country, respect laws and traditions and done nothing but work hard, never got a dollar for free. So it bothers me that irresponsible people receive the same (or better) services than me. If a drug user want to get in a rehab program great, but not with my taxes.
16 сағат бұрын
@@Carlos-sd6cz Yeah, I see what you're saying. Not least because I'm kind of a low tax/limited government person myself. And kind of support individualism (over collectivism) too. But I have to admit there's a balance that should be found, you cannot have 0% taxes and 0 government either. What you don't get is that some of those who get rehab will actually manage to clean up, get a job, start payng taxes, then later when you or someone you know get sick, maybe that persons taxes pay for you or those you love. That's what you seem to not get. That drug (ab)user gets help, then later others get help from what the former drug user pays in. Everybody helps everybody. I don't 100% get this negativity you have towards it even IF I'm myself a low tax type of guy.

Tough love has been shown to generally help people much better than enabling, and the rest of Canada should be modeling there recovery programs after Alberta's. Daniel Smith has it right. On the other addiction side we have Premier Doug Ford putting alcohol in grocery stores, gas stations and convenience stores. We have ads galore fore online gambling and we have marijuana stores popping up everywhere. This has got to be creating more addictions that can lead to drug addictions and nobody needs it. It is enough to be high on life.

RIGHTS VS LAW Suspending someone's rights for 'their own good', should never be the case. But if people break the law, their rights are suspended as outlined by their incarceration. So, if we make the selling, buying, or act of using illicit drugs an offence, we can then incarcerate and mandate rehabilitation for these addicts. But these drugs must be made illegal, in order to do this. We have, or at least should have, the right to do as we please, until we are caught breaking the law. Then, and only then, should we have certain rights suspended...not before.
