The Undertaker has said in interviews his orbital bone was actually fractured by Mabel in a (untelevised) house show. They did the leg drop fight within the next few days for a Kayfabe explanation. Mabel apparently got tired and missed his mark when trying to do a forearm clothesline and instead caught Taker with his fist while Taker was running at full speed at him.

He was my favorite wrestler in the 90s and I'm sure im on an incredibly short list when saying that. I first started watching wrestling in the couple weeks prior to the 1995 King of the Ring and when I first tuned in, in one of the first bouts on RAW, I saw this dude come out. No one looked like Mabel. NO ONE. Say what you will about his wrestling moves, his crazy purple gear and other intricacies but this dude stood out. I watched the match at air where he was beat by Diesel in 8 seconds and something told me something was wrong when he got jobbed that badly. To say the least I was very happy in 98 to see him return and attack Ken Shamrock. Even moreso was I happy when he was a part of the Ministry. Viscera was my favorite incarnation of any of his gimmicks. AGAIN, no one looked like this guy, especially as Viscera. He had a presence no one could be compared to and while his career could have definitely been more fruitful he is one of the reasons why I became a fan of Pro Wrestling.

10:05, strange that you say Mabel left the WWF after the 1996 Royal Rumble match. when i also remember him giving his unique opinion on the Wrestlemania 12 Iron-man match between WWF Champion Bret Hart and Challenger Shawn Michaels when WWF superstars were asked their opinion on who they thought would win that matchup.
@JMFSpike4 жыл бұрын
He actually did far better then you'd expect a guy like him to do. He was a poor wrestler and ridiculously obese, but he still managed to get himself hired by the WWE and win the King of the Ring. The tag titles may have been an accident, but he was also the hardcore champion(although only for a few minutes do to the goofy 24/7 thing at the time). He managed to win the tag belts once in AJPW as well. So all in all, he did pretty well for himself considering.

I think Nash for sure embellished, but given that Mabel had a history of this and was soon out anyways, he probably did play a role in delaying the firing at that time. It was more like "nah Vince, you don't HAVE to fire him for that".
@insignificantaftermathPROJECTS2 жыл бұрын
@@Ian-Omega not really. It's well documented how the Kliq had influence backstage so why would Nash want to keep Mabel around if he nearly ruined Nash's title reign? Other than maybe Mabel was one of Takers boys or was well liked backstage, I see no reason for Nash to protect him.
@PhillipCummingsUSA5 жыл бұрын
First, I'm not convinced that the WWF was keeping information about concussions away from talent like the NFL did. Second, Mabel's death was related to his weight. If he had medical documents stating that he had concussion issues I'd be willing to be more empathetic on that issue. Either way that lawyer must want to take advantage of these poor people with stories about his NFL class action suit. What a pos.

Nelson was both underrated and underutilised. At about 6,5½ and between 6,7 and ,6,8 in his boots and at 360 minimum he was just intimidating as a human being. They gave him a strange initial gimmick and an outfit made to make him look bigger but it seemed to go over with fans for a while. He could have earlier on had a huge heel change and challenged wrestlers for titles and worked his way up cos his im ring skills were great he could move fast and so stuff smaller guys couldnt even do but as many wrestlers reported he sometimes forgot how big he was and injured guys including the samoans then of course the nail in the casket... Kevin Nash!! When he came back as viscera i am everyone else loved it! He was the only wrestler of that type at the time and worked welll with both the stable and tag team with mideon who again was another 6,6ish kinda guy who could plough through you and all those guys worked well together for the time and it helped takers career and i believe it got him reigns as both tag team and hardcore champs and he had shots ay the big belt and think he deserved a shot at being ECW champ given that they gave it to some undeserving characters! He just never got what id call a serious push as a serious athlete he was always just a gimmick! Sadly my 2nd favourite wrestler kane has suffered from that too with masks and wigs and silly tag teams and corporate kane and all at the expense of a man just as talented as taker is and always in matches with taker was 50/50!! Kane deserved several title runs and its hard to even say he was a legit champ cos he didnt win the match it was taker who hit austin and he lost it the night after in a poor match. Anyway i love Nelson he was an enigma and wished he had a bigger career. RIP Big man

How do you injure that many people, including main eventers, who have that much pull backstage, that consistently, while not drawing or selling merch, and keep your job? I've always wondered (half jokingly) if he had blackmail on Vince or something. It's not like he became a better or more popular performer as the years went on. Some questions will never be answered.
