I don’t know man. imo you can’t call that a complete lift with elbows wrapped that tight. Still an epic lift.

yeah maybe has 661 or so without the elbow wraps which would equal Kaz back in 1981 but about 80lb lighter bodyweight!

Impressive lift by all means. though if I critiqued anything from my highly unqualified non expert point of view. I wasn’t overly excited to see the the eccentric control and spring back of the bar on the touch and go give a lot of momentum to the lift. He’s in the history books now regardless.

Remember when Eric Spoto came out of nowhere to hit those 700 pound benches well this reminds me of those days. Incredible benching even more so at his weight.

@benschilling5465 ай бұрын
The difference between this and a meet bench is huge. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tumbarello could only do 650 in an actual meet. Plus with the way plates aren’t perfectly accurate anyway, he might have only benched 690-695, there’s just no way to know without calibrated plates. Not to take anything away from him but doing it in a meet is a whole different thing
@tobib71435 ай бұрын
He might’ve benched more or less, we’ll never know for sure. 😅😮

Uncalibrated plates weight goes both ways, sometimes they can be 46 lbs and even up to 49 lbs. This almost means each side can have an uneven level weight

I'd rather see him lifting paused bench. If he can do 620-630lbs with a paus it still would be more impressive than bouncing the barbell for two thirds of the lift.

Have him do a touch and go without the bounce. No doubt he's a great bencher I would be surprised to 600 which would be more impressive

@@chriscota1635it’s definitely a bounce. Julius Maddox sinks it into his chest, which is an advantage too, but if this isn’t a bounce, idk what is.
@chriscota16355 ай бұрын
Looks like a gym bench to me. We have all seen worse bounces than that. He maintains some control throughout the lift. Definitely not competition standard. But I say a solid lift at 700 lbs which is more than most people will ever deadlift or are even capable of deadlifting.
@chriscota16355 ай бұрын
I have never seen any bounce add 100 lbs to a lift, much less more than that.

Why is there always someone that just has to find something negative to say. He benched 700lbs while being well under 300lbs in bodyweight. That is insane strength. This isn't about comparing one man to the next, it's about acknowledging how insanely strong this guy is.

Edit: Larry wheels is fucking crazy if he thinks his own product only adds 3% to your bench, he did 675 with his wraps and his best bench ever raw was like 630-640 in the gym and in comp this mother fucker did an additional 35-45lbs over that under gym settings using his sleeves and elbow wraps. Speaking as someone who also uses a pair please if you read this understand those wraps can actually add about 40-50lbs onto your bench if you're already strong off your chest. My raw max bench is 385 and I have done 420lbs in the wraps granted though I have not tested either of my maxes in or out of them rn, but everytime I have there has been that much of a difference in weight for me when I used them. 700lbs is 700lbs, but lets not be over the top with this accomplishment. This 700lbs was and is not done in a sanctioned meet, plus this weight was done with sleeves and wraps and Idc what people say that shit adds poundage to your bench when combined and im speaking from experience. Impressive accomplishment, but for this to be "history made" it needs to be done in a competition and im sure joseph himself knows this, but just simply wanted to hit this weight.
