A global currency would still be needed for general trade. And right now, given the situation, it is very hard to completely replace the US dollar by some other national currency (US really postured itself well with its policies in this domain, not so much in the Vietnam War). However, a good idea would be to re-invent a totally new currency not used by any nation and overseen by some global organization, like UN, and have it pegged in value to a basket of currencies like USD, Yen, Yuan, UK pound, EUR, Ruble, etc. and have new printing plates and mints set up for that by a multilateral agreement by all UN nations. This way no one has to worry about one country specifically freezing the reserve for right or wrong intentions, as freezing can be carried out by proper voting at the UN, something agreed on by most countries.

If one assumes that the BRICS group will not want to micro manage their members actions, and that India and China will not break out into major conflict, the concept of a BRICS group could provide a level of international security that would be better than how much of the global south currently experiences the international system as it currently functions. That is not true! If you look at it on a graph, logarithmic decay basically looks like a horizontal line that almost imperceptibly arcs gently downwards. But eventually the arc downward becomes steeper and steeper until it’s practically a vertical line down.
