A criminally underrated Action classic. There should've been a *Charly Baltimore* franchise/TV series/action figure/breakfast cereal/reboot by now. Geena Davis was the biggest female movie star on the planet in the mid-90s and the 1995 bomb _Cutthroat Island_ pretty much killed her career. _Long Kiss_ came out a year later and was completely ignored - in part, because of a lackluster marketing campaign & the stink of _Cutthroat._ Bad guy Craig Bierko is actually hilarious in real life. Check out his shortlived "talk show" _Bathing With Bierko_ where Craig interviews John Malkovich - in a bathtub.

I'm happy to have learned that this film has a cult following. It was supposed to have a sequel, but It didn't perform as expected at the box office. In 2007 reports of a sequel resurfaced, but nothing as of now; the same thing happened with another hit film Geena Davis was in, Beetlejuice. I would love to see a sequel of both those films. Other films I liked that Geena Davis stared in are Thelma and Louise, A League of Their Own, The Fly, and Fletch. I was pretty young when most of those films came out, but back when I was a teen in a small town we had to walk to our local video rental store and rent a VHS tape, and the selection was small compared to what is available online nowadays. Thanks for sharing your reaction!

Whenever he's asked about his favorite movies that he did, Jackson talks this one up. Samantha Caine (note that "Sam Caine" is an anagram for "amnesiac") was Jason Bourne before it ever occurred to anyone to make a Jason Bourne movie. Brian Cox is epic as Waldman and was technically the first actor ever to play Hannibal Lecter way back in a great movie called Manhunter. Out of the blue Geena Davis (Sam/Charlie) took up archery and qualified for the Olympics, and I think you see how assuredly she would hold a bow from the way she handles a rifle. This is the movie that introduced me to Semisonic's "FNT (Fascinating New Thing)." One of my most gigantic guilty pleasures.

I am so pumped you reacted to this movie! It's one of my all-time favorites. It tanked at the box office when it came out because female action hero movies weren't well received at the time and I think it kind of was forgotten about by a lot of people. I love watching people discover how good it is! Some of Geena Davis's other movies that are extremely good are "The Fly" (1986), "Beetlejuice" (1988), "Thelma & Louise" (1991), and "A League of Their Own" (1992). She was the main protagonist in the pirate movie "Cutthroat Island" which bombed at the box office as well and was not well received by critics. I always enjoyed it, regardless. I think it's a very fun action adventure movie. She's also been in some very obscure comedy movies such as "Earth Girls are Easy" and "Transylvania 6-500" of which I'm a big fan. Not everyone likes the humor in "Transylvania 6-5000", it's very satirical and absurdist, but not quite as absurd as Monty Python or Mel Brooks movies.
