Artistic influences flow in both directions. Just as Star Wars was influenced by Dune the book, for Dune Part I the movie, Villeneuve acknowledges his own cinematic indebtedness to past masters (including David Lean's "Lawrence of Arabia", David Lynch's 1984 "Dune" and Coppola's "Apocalypse Now"). But it's clear that the scene here in "Part I" in which the "vision of Jamis" talks Paul into "going with the flow" (which is NOT in Dune the book) is also a direct quote from the scene in the first Star Wars movie itself (when the disembodied voice of Obiwan tells Luke to use the force to guide him to his target...)

You can’t draw conclusions by just watching the first movie. Wait until you have seen it all before you condemn it. The book is far too much to squeeze into a single movie. That was the problem with the movie they made in the 80’s.
