A bow + 50 arrows weighs as much as 1 spear. With the bow, you have the option to shoot 50 times if you don't kill the animal with the first shot. You must have a few spears to be able to correct your throw. So not only in terms of durability, the bow is better, but also the weight.

For a fast start, use the unstuck function and build a Hunting Camp. 2 houses, 1 hunting lodge, 1 resource storage, 1 food storage, 1 woodcutter. Now go to any wooded area and chop down all the trees and put the logs into a super pile(more than you can carry). After an area is cleared out pick them all up and use unstuck. You have now transported to your town with a super heavy load. Drop them on the ground. Move them as you can into storage. When you ready to move on just build your farms next to the northern towns that let you build real close by and use them as sell off points. You just have to pay attention that hunters live in the houses by the hunting lodges so they are close to work. You can also skip having farms and just make mass hunters and woodmen until you build that tech up significantly. By the time your hunting tech is high level you can switch to excavation and mining so you can build all the top tools and weapons. Mean while you will have gathered tons and tons of materials so you can just craft all kinds of things and sell, sell, sell. When your ready to farm you can now have all the best tools and you can just have a total focus on it so it levels up quickly. As your building skill trees up make sure you ALWAYS take the first skill that gives you bonus skill points for each action so that they level up MUCH, MUCH faster. Later after it's maxed just have your wife reset them for strictly useful ones. Diplomacy is so VERY boring but if you build it up right away before you start working on the bigger chapter quests you can gain huge bonuses. 3 into skill bonus points and then three into dynasty reward points. Then finish off your chapters and BOOM you will get massive bonus rewards that accelerate the game very fast. Enjoy!!!

I think the biggest problem I can see while you're hunting is you're not "stalking" you're running at them which is keeping them alert, you should be able to literally walk up to a creature and then draw on it and kill it in 1 hit unless it's an aggressive one. Also I heard that arrows don't break.

Concentrating on rye and flax as crops as I mentioned in my previous comment made a huge difference in boosting my crafting skill and technology because all of it needs to be processed before use. I just built the smithy II shortly before winter of year 4. Not really a trick, but there is a rat trap you can also set to help with hunting skill, so you can have three traps total running at a time.

1:09 Looks like you'll have to wait for next season for the game to update this, because in Spring of the next year I checked and it will show the size of the field at the bottom middle of your screen. 21:22 You do not get any Diplomacy for a negative reaction, but you do get 5 Diplomacy (with Diplomacy Knowledge skill at 3/3) for every positive reaction. Even the +0 reaction gives you 5 Diplomacy.

Kage, you can move the villagers around if you break a part of every one of their houses, it’s really annoying to do but it works! I did it just yesterday. Once a piece of a house is missing, the villagers in it become homeless. Once they were all homeless I was able to put whoever I wanted where. I hope this helps 🙂

"My days of chopping wood are over". Right? I've been dumping logs in stacks of 10 in that nook that has a piece of timber sticking out of the floor to hold the logs in place. This frees up room in my storage so that I don't go over the limit and my dudes stop supplying the storage. I also have started stacking stone, leather and other, very heavy, items in the various nooks (per a commentors recommendation). I have so much stone, logs, leather and other heavy items. I need more crafters to make me stuff!

Ya I'm going to start doing this as well. Awesome idea. It almost seems like that is what the devs had in mind by making all of those little nooks in the storage sheds? Also throwing stacks of 14 or 15 logs right there at the door will be a Huge time saver when building stuff! That suggestion made my day 😃

Use the item "no despawn" to your advantage. If you notice in the resource storage as soon as you walk in on the left there is an area built for logs. Walk up the middle holding post and drop a stack of 12 or 13 logs and repeat! You can save so much storage in your chest and also it looks cool and is convenient to just grab a stack when building! 😊

Kage, Glad you decided to try the bow now, they are much better since the fix, the bleed effect is great and yes, they can bleed out, the arrow fall arch is a little much but set up an archery target and practice till you adjust ( You don't need a melee weapon with the bow just shoot them at close range but if you prefer one use an iron axe) I don't think selling them is the way to go since you need flax and lots of it and I find I have to keep the large fields up myself or it doesn't all get taken care of! Also the arrows degrade slowly but you will eventually lose them. Keep it up, still enjoyin the vids as always!

Longbow+iron arrows is a one shot for everything but bear/buffalo if you FULLY draw back the bow (takes a bit) and get a headshot. Makes the hunting quests super easy.

One of the biggest advantages of the bow over the spears is the weight. A bow and a stack of 100 arrows doesn't even weigh as much as 2 spears! And also the bow draws faster!

Lesnica Vendor sells recurve bow. Seems to have the same damage breakpoints as spear (with iron arrows) but faster draw than longbow? Will down wolf, boar, and deer in 1 headshot.

Longbow is better than Recurve imo. They do the same damage but Longbow has longer range and is easier to aim, because the projectile doesn't drop anywhere near as much - I did some testing and the Longbow shoots twice as far as the Recurve bow, every single time. Recurve has slightly better durability and is slightly faster to draw, but the Longbow's better range and aiming advantage make it the superior choice.

Hi Kage, love your vids! A lot of help! Can't wait for next video, as not sure if theres a bug going on with uniegost story quest 3 but it happen to me. It happen during autumn/winter after doing quest 2 with collecting the taxes. It says to 'wait for further events' , no other explanation then it says 'you have failed the quest' . And when you go back to the village where uniegost lives, he is no longer there in the village and nothing in story quest. I have yet to wait till spring to see if he's back to pay my taxes. Waiting to watch if you'll be encountering it too ! Also diplomacy via conversation doesn't always go up when talking about hunting for some NPCs.

Iron arrows do break, just much less frequently. I made a single stack of 50 iron arrows over 3 game years ago and I still have more than half of them left. Since then, quest rewards have kept me topped up on iron arrows so I haven't needed to make any ever again!

Man I made it 911 reputation on the old rep point system, then in one season shot right to 1000. The reward was another 500 reputation, but I jumped 1000. I'm not sure if there was another mission I did without knowing it or what. That one was to have 10 villagers and put 5 to work and it gave me 2500, so now I am at 4500 and growing fast. The building limit is already at 16. I'm not sure how many villagers I can have, but I am at 12 now. The next mission says to get a wife and have a child, so I am having a child now that I have the extra villagers. I am converting all my homes to rock was with daub and wood tile rooks. I did not know you could do this. When you go to build the walls you can press E and select if you want a wall, window or door for that section and if it is sticks, logs, or stone. You can also pick thatch shingles or wood tiles (or something like that). The stone with daub added and the wood tiles makes the villagers the happiest (so they work harder) and is more durable. I think my happiness is at 68% right now. I wish something like the tavern added 5% as they use it if I have someone working there. I went out of my way to get men to even out the numbers and have a man and woman in every house. I am about maxed on all my technologies but farming. I still need sheep and cows and food storage III to be unlocked, but that is it. I still need to update the clothing workshop, regular storage, and tavern to three also, but at least all the houses are updated. I just hope they do not all have kids at the same time. I was told kids count as villagers though. I hope that is not the case because I am hoping to add at least 2 more houses and 4 more villagers. I did run into a bit of a glitch. When you get a villager it does not have problems with auto assigning 2 women into the same house, but when knocking down my stick walls to make stone walls on the houses and update the roofs it evicted the people from the house and showed them as homeless. I had 4 women to place in 2 homes. I seemed to let me put 2 in the first home, but for the last woman it would not let me place her, so I have to build a new home fast before she got too made. She got down to 5%. I have still seen a few rewards of 1-2 rep, but I have also seen several 15 and one at 30. I even 25% of the village wrapped in a spiked log fence. I had to stop to update homes when I found out you can change what the walls and roof are made of. I think that 2500 bump was a bit much... as wat the 1000. I think instead to get that up he should give rep for building buildings for the first time, like a workshop gives +10, a smithy gives +25, and a smithy II gives +50. Also maybe rep for hitting certain amounts of gold on hand for the first time, like +10 at 5000, +25 at 10,000, and +50 at 25,000 gold. Both of these things in real life would attract villagers as you have jobs for them and you have money and that is what the reputation is used for. I finally tried the recurve with iron arrows and the damage is close to that of the wooded spear. The good thing is it is much lighter and the iron arrows, for some reason, do not take feathers and 50 (costing 10 iron and 10 sticks) weights only .25 kg. You can also sell them for 7 gold each (or 350 for 50). Taking 500 arrows to town and cleaning out merchants is only 2.5 kg. Also since you make them in bundles of 50 they take far less time than building a bunch of iron hammers or scythes to sell... and make more money still.

Longbow with iron arrows weight a ton less than spears, you can keep them on yourself at all times. arrows do break, but rarely.

Side quests seem to give 15ish reputation now. Which I think is pretty good. BTW, after spending 40 hours on my first game and getting stuck at 800/1000 rep, I started a new game. Within 8 hours, I was past my original game on main quest progress due to the increased rewards in the update from a couple days ago. It was well worth the time, not having to grind side quests to hit my 1k rep.

Bows medieval weapons? Yeaah, they had crossbows in iron age and those pesky hittites were pretty medieval in their bow and other technologies, and in their day and age it was a compliment.

You were saying that the bows are super realistic either this or last episode idr so possibly the reason you arent killing things faster with the bow is that your using it like a gun and going to head shots. Try shooting the shoulder area get them in the heart or the lungs like you would with real bow hunting? Idk how advanced the hunting is in this game so it could obviously just be that the bow isnt as powerful as we'd like. hopefully that works

Scythes are really worth selling. It's 4x Iron, 1x log and 1x stick. All ingredients are automated, and you get 100 gold per. Everything made of flax isn't worth selling. Flax takes a shitload of work, from plowing, manuring, sowing, scything, picking, beating and then sewing.

Iron hammers are better 2 iron & 1 stick and sells for 70 gold, arrows are just as good at 10 iron/10 sticks and 350 gold per 50 stack. Hammers give more exp where as arrows are much lighter as in you can carry thousands.

have 2 hunters in the hunting cabin will get you xp in the tech tree, you could even do a fishin hut too to get more xp, time your bow shots with the bleed effect and you will make those kills easier

You can crouch and sneak up on animals. Making spear hunting easier.

Longbow is awesome. I finally got the tech level to make Recurve Bows, but maaan... they suck. They don't do any more damage than the Longbow, and they have waaaaay worse arrow drop. I did some testing and the longbow consistently shoots an arrow twice as far as the recurve bow. Less drop makes the longbow so much easier to aim. The only advantage to the Recurve bow is it takes less time to fully draw it, but compared to the better range and easier aiming of the longbow, that's a pretty meaningless difference. Crossbows are decent and do a lot of damage (a single headshot will kill every animal with Iron Bolts), but they still have more projectile drop than the longbow - the biggest advantage to the crossbow is once it's loaded, it stays loaded, so you can shoot instantly. Loading another bolt takes ages though and that's a major drawback when you have wolves chasing you. My conclusion - Longbow with Iron Arrows is the best ranged weapon, period. Also, Iron Axe is a better melee weapon than spears. It swings faster and is easier to aim, with the added bonus of being a useful tool outside of combat.

I rarely hunt .only for side quests. I do trap all animals including fishes. My hunting lodge 2 is even unlocked. So i think trappings work Also good.

The positive and negative outcomes from speech are based on the npc profession. NPC with high crafting skill love the "hard working" line and the "noble robes" line but tend not to care much about the weather in either direction NPC with high farming skill or extraction love the "spent all day in the field" line and love good weather but hate poor weather. The only one i have not figured out is the "how are you doing" line, most npcs love that shit but some just give 0 relation. For bows honestly you better of buying them then waiting to craft as they are very durable i purchased the long bow the first spring by picking berries and it was very worth it you can also get one the first fall or so from a quest chain with Alwin.

The trick to get hunting level up fast, dont use hunting lodge for meat and leather, hunt yourself on every day a bit, get the Trapper perk to have more trap limit as fast as you can ... basicly thats all. Oh and arrows have a bleed effect ...

Most annoying thing is, that you have to manually transfer the logs your ppl chop to the storage building, same with the stone and the material the hunter and gatherer collect. I feel like walkign around my town for 10 minutes t ocollect all this, its doesnt transfer it automaticallyy neither can you put someone into the storage house to do this all for you..instead they become a "shop keeper" who doesnt do anything at all. Otherwise fun game so far!

Only problem i have had is later on when you have like 8+ houses your woodshed don't create nearly enough firewood even with stone houses and daub upgrades leading you to have to keep on top of firewood chopping all the time.

That's the risk you take with Early Access, however the developers are releasing patches almost daily and most of the bugs I've come across since day 1 have already been fixed. I've got nearly 70 hours in this game, so the $35AUD I spent is already worth it, even if they were to stop working on it today.

I have but rarely. It seems to be biased towards salt of the earth, hard workers that don't like that fru fru stuff. Only occasionally do they like talking about money or clothing presumably because they don't like being reminded that they're poor.

spent a whole summer season grind picking FREE berries over 10k gold that's 3 or 4 years tax paid so now i can play without worring about it,everyone talks about the best things to make and sell,well i just like free stuff and they are not hard to find

Kage848 There are only 7 or so animals per region per day. If you save and reload the game is forced to reset and the animals will respawn.
