Daub is like plaster that goes on the outside of the wattle walls. It's basically mud and some manure, and you just slap it onto the wattle (woven sticks) walls to provide protection from drafts and moisture.

Those women at the shed don’t do it because you have to have the shed within 50 meters of trees. It says that in the description on the woodshed. So destroying that one and placing it in the forest up the hill will produce a lot of wood.

@@crokusgaming1164 trees do not actually get cut when a worker cuts them...At this point its a simulation, but my be fixed in the future? I have my woodshed in the middle of some trees and the same trees are still there after two game years. They continue to produce wood.

Spears take 33% damage for each throw, if u throw a spear that only has 33% durability, it breaks. That's why some disappear when u throw them.

I'm really not Mr. Know-it-all, I just happen to know about these things you have questioned in this game: *"Wattle"* is exactly the construction you currently have. It's one of the most primitive methods of building walls where long sticks (like sapling trunks) are driven into the ground at two to three foot vertical intervals and then smaller or more flexible sticks are woven horizontally into them - just like the fence you placed around the farm plot. Some tribes of American Natives on the east coast living in vast hardwood forests used this method for their permanent villages. *"Daub"* is overlaying a supporting lattice structure (like wattle but it can also be built with milled wooden strips) with any material that is pliable but then dries to a hard and (nearly) waterproof surface. Traditional materials include clay, clay mixed with pulverized limestone, clay mixed with cow, or sheep dung, and the longest lasting is a combination of all three of those materials. The dung is added because it extends and reduces the weight of the clay and provides a fibrous "matrix" to the clay to prevent it from cracking as it dries and the lime stone is added to eliminate odors, add hardness to the clay and brightens the color of the dry clay. The people that came up with the method probably didn't know it but the limestone also helped prevent or resist the growth of mold, mildew, and fungus.The method is still used today although the clay and dung has been replaced with a fiber filled cement called Ferrocement (you can actually build a boat using this modern version of "daub").

Wattle and daub is a step up in building technology. Wattle is like walls/mats of interwoven posts and sticks. Daub both clay/plaster and the action of "coating a surface". The clay is often mixed with some form of like hay or straw or some other easily collectible organic fiber to produce a "cob" mixture which has better strength than pure clay. There are other traditional clay or mud mixtures, some including animal feces - useful since it often contains a lot of organic fibers. A wattle and daub structure is not only much stronger but much better insulated and protected from wind and hostile creatures or enemies. Especially since a more extensive wattle and daub structure would consist of two wattle walls separated by a loose organic material as an insulating gap.

18:12 I actually found a chest full of stuff, some tools, few bows, 200 arrows, but it wasn't in any village. It was like a small settlement with 3 houses not marked on the map. I found it while exploring and you can actually sell stolen stuff, at least I did

Npc farming gives passive exp from what I have read. Besides using scythe on random towns wheat/rye field in the dark you can just make a 3x3 farm plot and plow it then break it down. Rinse repeat this to speed up farm from what I’ve heard.

u can skill farming when u harvest the wheat or rye from other villages (take the starter village .... just get a scyte from the east shed and harvest their fields) but dont steal ... just take a scyte and mow it down u will be a pro farmer in no time! DAUB - unlocked in farming -"goose building" you need 10 clay+10 straw = 10 daub . crafted in barn FARMING - SE of Gostovia there is a storage hut with scythes "borrow" a scythe, then cut the wheat (same location) in spring and summer.

Kage in one of those two buildings next to the fields at the starter town check the storage boxes. The shack to the south east will have stuff in the box. It will have 5 or scythes 5 stone hoes and 5 iron hoes. I've hit that and their fields twice now. It replenishes every year. There's also another chest with items in it next to a hermit near the northwest part of the map, it's in a hut like 40 yards away from his house. Hint, it has weapons

@@ahipskind further money tip: Grab the scythes and hoes, equip them and swing them once to remove the 'stolen' red marker on the names. The save and quit also applies to the fields run by the NPCs, so you can scythe and harvest their wheat and rye fields around the shed.

However, I didn't know about the crops and that is amazing! Does it count as robing them though? I got caught one time in a city to the north, and you lost a ton of dynasty points!

Daub is a wall construction similar to modern day Tudor wall construction. Basically a layer of clay or mud applied over a stick or lattice wall. also, as of the update on 09/19/2020 you are now able to destroy farm fields by hitting the field with your hammer while it is in destroy mode. The "linked" resource storage building thing does indeed work. In my world, I built a second resource storage building right next to the "unstuck" spawn spot. That way I can go to the mine, or any other spot, gather stuff until i absolutely can not move, then "unstuck" and TP right to the building, dump everything into storage, and when i get back to base I have instant access to all of the stuff. For the mine, I go in and mine the rocks, temporarily dump everything in one big pile. When I am ready to leave, I grab everything in the big pile, TP to unstuck, and drop it on the ground. then its just a matter of picking up as much as i can move with and shuffle the 10 feet or so to the storage building. rinse and repeat til it's all in the chest, then go back to my main town area. The unstuck area is also a handy place to hunt prey (lots of deer, rabbits, a few wolves a bit to the south, and a buffalo or two tot he south), cut trees, gather sticks and stones, and has lots of mushrooms in the fall.

Having lived in a real wattle and daube pub before wattle ,as we see in your vid is the woven coppiced wood in your walls and daube is a mixture of stuff often mud, straw, manure that is mixed into a paste and then "Daubed" all over to fill the spaces in the wattle making it wind proof and weather proof. It is then painted with lime wash making it whiter and harder surface finish. Trivia: Some places like in Suffolk mix things like bulls blood into the wash making their houses a dark pink "Suffolk Pink" Edit: I'm in the UK btw 😉👍

HEY KAGE love your content ill leave your some tips first farming skill - in the first village go to the shed outside and steal one or 2 stythe and harvest the fields ...if they don't see you robing the stythe or the rye and wheat you ill not lose dynasty points and harvesting the crops is not considering stealing. if you pick them crops up to do it at night when nobody can see you you cannot sell them but you can bring to the barn and then sell the sub-product second - sell stone knives and simple bags much more profitable and you can craft 20 knives selling it for 400 gold. and third - save always before talking with the NPC if the reply is wrong to reload and try it again. Man, I love the content keep it coming ... big hi-five from Portugal. ps. sorry my English is not the best but I tried my best I don't have too much money for buying the game but I am playing in a friends account ... I follow 7 days to die but when I saw this I wanted to try it and I love it

Love the vids man, this game has me hooked too. A few tips for you: The resource storage for wood works by weight of the wood placed in it. For example: 1 log is 2kg = 2 wood value or 1 log = 4 firewood (4kg) = 4 wood value. Therefore always turn logs into firewood to double your wood storage values. Tip 2: Food storage goes by nutrition value. Example: 1 cooked meat = 6 nutrition, 1 onion = 4 nutrition which is 10 food in storage. OR 1 cooked meat + 1 onion = 1 meat with gravy = 25 food in storage for a 15 point gain. Tip 3: if you have a crop which grows after a single season you can plant said crop in the final hours of the end of the season it can be planted and when seasons change it will be ready for harvest. Doesnt give you an advantage but if you're busy doing quests or gathering resources in the beginning of the season you won't have to worry about planting crops right away. Hope these help a bit, keep up the great work with the series.

one thing i have seen is the freaking carts that are sitting in towns that would be used for hauling large amounts of logs. Those carts need to be added in to help transport large amounts of logs, and i have no doubt they had a way to transport large amounts of iron easily.

South of the main town, by the 2 fields, is a hut with 5 iron hoes, 5 stone goes and 5 scythes, IN THE CHEST. Steal an iron hoe, create a 16x16 crop. Plow it. Once plowed, use hammer and destroy it. Rinse/repeat

I think this is so good because in a small way it really does what skyrim does with the leveling system. Yes, it's a bit different but it's similar in the way that you build levels by doing things and when you level up you put those points into a particular thing. It works because it makes you feel like the things you are doing really make a difference over time. I still love the fallout way of leveling but I do love the skyrim way too.

A very quick and easy way to make money is set a macro to repeated press E when toggled, toggle it on and just run from batch to batch or herbs, and look at the ground and move around clicking left alt for a sec to find the net batch.

Daub, back then, would have been a mix of sand/soil, straw and clay... i have a feeling as sand isnt readily available in game it will probably just be a mix of straw and clay id imagine. Wattle is the intertwined branches and daub would be the clay mix which is effectively placed in the indents between the branches.

Best/fastest way for cash is gathering st johns wort and broadleaf plantains, they weigh 0.01 each and sell for 2g and they're everywhere. I can make 3-4k in one day/night cycle doing that. Berries are ok but require a lot of trips as they're kind of heavy.

So far best money for me is flachs seeds. I think they sell for 6 a piece. After harvest of a 5x10 field and threshing you have like 500 seeds so this will make you 2500-3000 gold.

Put the firewood in storage. It's much more economical than the villagers using logs. For money put your craftsman on wooden shovels and go about your business for a couple of seasons. Since the firewood will be used in the village you'll still get to craft it for the skill gain, but shovels get you more money per log. Firewood sells for 2 coins each, at least it does on my character without the seller skill, giving each log a value of 8 coins. Shovels take two logs and sell for 18 coins in pristine condition, or 9 coins per log. That one coin gain might not mean much for two logs, but if you sell in bulk it adds up. 20 logs will get you 80 pieces of firewood at two coins each for a total of 160 coins. Those same 20 logs will get you 10 shovels at 18 coins each for a total of 180 coins. That's two pieces of manure/fertilizer if you want to play the long game on seed acquisition (plant a 1 x 2 plot, roll over the seeds each year until you're satisfied), and 10 shovels are easier to carry than 80 pieces of firewood. That 50 coin investment in the tech paid my taxes for three years, and even though I now have to sell off part of my food to make taxes shovels are still the backbone of my economy, at least until I can get a proper farming operation up and running, assuming I ever get bored enough with hunting to buckle down and focus on more than an annual plot of onions.

Not sure if it has been said yet but you can actually collect all of the spears that are in an animal just by skinning the animal. Once the skinning process is complete you will see on the left hand side "+ 'X' Spear, + 'X' Spear, + 'X' Meat, + 'X' Fur..." Hope this might help you or some one else.

I can confirm there is a house in the top left of the map not marked as a city and it has a whole bunch of items in the chest so there are definatly items in chests just not every cheat

It's not in the town main area they are in the food storage by the field (northwest food storage) and you can sell stolen stuff in the next town over. However, stolen stuff is cut in half. Buy a scythe cost 600, selling a scythe that you made is 300 (100% durability) but if you steal it and try to sell it it is only 100 (100% durability).

if you use your hammer you can destroy veg plots so you can get rid of unwanted ones and you need trees around your log storage or she wont collect any try placing the building nearer trees and stone knives give you 21 gold great for starter money

My tip for making money, collect rocks and sticks until you cant move. Then craft "Stone Knife" until they're all done which ends up being lighter. Keep doing this until you can't hold any more then go sell them. 21 gold per knife and you can hold heaps.

If your workers are doing a task, it adds to the dynasty XP. Your lumberjack is leveling up your building XP for you right now. Adding a hunter to the hunters cabin will save you having to hunt a billion animals to unlock recurve bows. It's slow but steady XP. I have a chicken coop and a hunter my farming and hunter XP is going up nicely. My wife is a level 10 hunter. Not seen higher.

Your location to build your settlement is common and sparked by an article for a gaming magazine. It is not a good location for a settlement. Proximity to the town is only needed to sell and recruit, neither of which will require daily visits. A better location is west where there is an island in the river. Just south or southeast of that island is a better location. The best location is further south of that where there is a valley surrounded by mountains with a lake. Just west/northwest of that lake is the best location for a settlement. It has access to all the materials and close enough to the settlements for recruiting. To move you'll want to build a Food Storage and a Resource Storage at the new location as they will share storage with the old ones. You simply move everything into the old ones and it will be available in the new ones. As you rebuild your structures you can destroy the old ones. You'll need 3 free building slots to make a move. Two for the resource buildings and 1 free slot to move the other structures destroying the old as the new get built.

Daub is that white stuff you see covering the walls of ye olde style buildings - it's kind of like a plaster of sorts - a sticky mix of soil/ clay/ dung and straw that covers the wattle (woven branches) of the walls

For farming XP you can build a huge farm plot, hoe it , then destroy. Rinse and repeat for XP.

Build stick fences and destroy and rebuild for fast construction skills.. sticks are easy to find of course.

In the little shacks by the farms in the first village there are tools in the shack to the right. TAke the scythe and use it on there plants. Major increase in farming skill. Just dont let them see you do it because its stealing and it will decrease dynasty reputation. Do it at night

yeah, at the start, you should be the one doing farming to increase farming exp, once you got animals, you can work on that and leave farming to npcs

when hunting use crouch, then you can get glose up to the animals and kille them.

Renaming saves might take a little effort. As far as i know you can rename the file in the game location in save folders?? For more save files. You can move the save files from the save folder of the game location to another new folder. A NON tested option.

You can destroy the walls and rooves on houses and when rebuild them with different materials. But do them one at a time. So destroy one wall and rebuilt using the Edit option

To lvl your farmskill Just use a scythe on npc flieds when they are ready to be harvested and you can steal the things you cut down at night so you wont get bad rep and sell it at an other town or Prozess it further

Well if the same storage type buildings are connected, why not try the cheapest building with storage by the mine and stick the ore/stones in there, then when back to base move it around from the matching building storage and put it where you want to. Id check to see if stones, ore, etc can be stored in your house at your base first, reason is if they cant be stored at base they cant be put in by the mine...
