Ever wonder just HOW much pressure a watercooling loop can handle before something catastrophically fails?? Let's just say that Alpacool Radiators perform VERY well under... PRESSURE

Jay there's definitely water in your compressor tank now, yes it was under pressure but water can still go down hill asking as air replaces it at the top. Please drain your compressor via the condensate drain plug.

Hey Jay, I work for a company that does a lot of hydro-static testing on industrial and hydraulic hoses, and one huge factor in a successful test is bleeding out any air that might be lingering in the line, seeing as though air will find any little imperfection, (such as a crack, thinned/stretched lining, dry rot, etc.) and create a flawed test whilst damaging/destroying whatever product it is you're testing. Now, while I understand your situation for using an air compressor (to add pressure), I'd have to suggest trying an (almost) airless loop, in a controlled area of course, with a water source connected to a small pneumatic pump, connected to your air compressor, with a pressure gauge and a ball valve to control pressure input to insert more water pressure into the loop to achieve a more accurate test. The air pushing into the loop most likely found the smallest inconsistency in the reservoir o-ring seals, allowing water into the space, then resulting in the friction holding the seal to be loosened, hence the shaved oring. (I realize this is almost unrealistic, but eh fuck it, figured I'd try anyway.)
@jothain
@jothain 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, well he should just use some pump with water pressuring system. I know what you're after at. I occasionally have to pressure test multistage heat exchangers in my work.
@Retrozpeckt

@@jothain yeah we use pneumatic pumps that force water into the hoses rather than air. We don't use electric pumps because of high exposure to water.
@noahluppe
@noahluppe 4 жыл бұрын
Or just connect the compressor to the top of the reservoir directly to the regulator, so you just control the pressure of the air on top of the water thus increasing the pressure of the water without introducing air to the rad and water to the compressor

@@noahluppe if that's possible, sure. But depending what you're pressurising it isn't always possible to do.

@@cardboardpig yup. You fill a large container with water, something like a 4 gal jug and attach a hose from it's lid to your loop. Jay, I just clicked on one of your videos from last year and instantly thought "holy shit, he looks so much healthier now". I don't know if you are watching what you eat, working out, are just generally happier in life versus a year ago, etc., but whatever it is keep it up! You are looking great, man!
