I was expecting a muddy slog down Usal road but I suppose that might technically be south of the Lost Coast.

I don't think that road is open yet. This is the northern part of the lost coast. We will do the full thing again sometime. I was disappointed in Usal beach, so many people! The trail is fun though.

The lost coast trail is awsome. I hiked it about 20 years ago. We took a Troup of boy scouts from Alturas there. we spent the first night in the lighthouse

I finally broke down and ordered a new GFC camper shell for my truck. All aluminum construction with a cabover pop up tent. Weighs less than 300 lbs total. Should be delivered to Sacramento for installation in late July. Mfr'd in Montana. This will change the whole way I have been camping for the past 40 years!

@@campoutwestus I currently have a 19 Y/0 Snugtop witch is falling apart. Just did the full 165K required maint on my 04 Tundra. It is not feasible to trade this truck in and buy something new just because its going on 20 years old. Probably the same for your guys Jeep. Old does not mean its bad.

Ferndale/Petrolia had that big earthquake last year...like a 6 plus!!!

Yes, it caused the landslide on that road on our way out in the redwoods. They just recently reopened the road.

@@campoutwestus One of my good friends lives in Carlotta, up above Fortuna. We have surfed at Centerville beach. You can see where the fault goes out to sea just south of there. Huge past landslides. Almost bought an 11 acre piece of property down by HoneyDew before the big storms.

Very cool! I camped at the campground on the beach there for three days in late April last year. Drove up the road you guys were on. I lucked out the first two days and had beautiful warm weather, no wind. Day three a huge fog bank formed offshore and it got so windy.
